260807 Advisory: Smash-and-grab attacks targeting motorists in South Africa
UNCLASSIFIED // OPEN SOURCE BASED Date: 07 August 2026
Smash-and-grab incidents remain a persistent and opportunistic threat across South Africa. Criminals target stationary or slow-moving vehicles at robots, stop streets, congested intersections, and near shopping centres or petrol stations. They smash a window (usually the passenger side) and rapidly seize phones, handbags, laptops, or other visible valuables before fleeing on foot or by vehicle. These attacks are fast, often occur in broad daylight, and rely on the element of surprise and driver hesitation.
Keep valuables out of sight, stay alert at every stop, and never leave items on seats — prevention is far more effective than reaction.
IF YOU ENCOUNTER A SMASH-AND-GRAB ATTEMPT
Do:
- Immediately drive forward if it is safe to do so (even through a red robot if necessary to escape the immediate threat).
- Sound your hooter continuously to attract attention.
- Keep your windows closed and doors locked.
- Call 10111 or your armed response as soon as you are clear of the scene.
- Note any description of the suspects (clothing, direction of flight, vehicle details if any) once you are safe.
Do NOT:
- Open your door or window to confront the attackers.
- Attempt to retrieve items or fight back — your safety comes first.
- Chase the suspects.
- Remain stationary arguing or assessing damage while still vulnerable.
IF YOU HAVE ALREADY BEEN A VICTIM
Do:
- Move to a safe, well-lit, populated location as quickly as possible.
- Contact SAPS (10111) and open a case.
- Notify your bank or mobile network provider immediately if cards, phones, or banking apps were taken so accounts can be frozen.
- Contact your insurance company and retain all documentation.
- Inform your armed response or community safety group.
Do NOT:
- Delay reporting in the hope of recovering items yourself.
- Post detailed information about the incident on social media while emotions are high (this can compromise investigations).
- Leave the scene without noting basic details if it is safe to do so.
GENERAL PREVENTION AND SAFETY TIPS
- Always lock doors and keep windows fully closed the moment you enter the vehicle, even for short trips.
- Place handbags, phones, laptops, shopping bags, and any valuables in the boot before you start driving or as soon as you get in — never leave them on seats or the floor where they are visible.
- Be especially vigilant at robots, stop streets, and congested intersections. Scan your surroundings and the pavement on both sides.
- Avoid using your phone or looking down while stationary in traffic.
- Leave enough space between your vehicle and the one in front so you can manoeuvre if needed.
- When approaching shopping centres, petrol stations, or known high-risk intersections, prepare by ensuring valuables are already secured out of sight.
- Prefer well-lit, busy routes where possible, particularly after dark.
- If you regularly carry work equipment or high-value items, consider using a less obvious bag and keeping it in the boot.
- Teach family members, especially new or younger drivers, these habits as standard practice.
REPORTING SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY OR INCIDENTS
- Emergency: 10111 (SAPS)
- Your local police station
- Armed response / private security provider
- Community safety or neighbourhood watch WhatsApp groups (for awareness, not as a substitute for official reporting)
- Crime Stop: 08600 10111
Report suspicious individuals loitering near robots or repeatedly approaching vehicles. Early information helps disrupt patterns.
LEGAL AND COMMUNITY REMINDERS
Smash-and-grab is a form of robbery. Do not take the law into your own hands. Accurate, timely reporting assists SAPS in identifying hotspots and patterns. Support local community safety initiatives and encourage others to secure their valuables out of sight — collective habits reduce opportunities for these crimes.
EMERGENCY CONTACTS
- SAPS Emergency: 10111
- Crime Stop: 08600 10111
- Your armed response / security company (save the number in your phone and vehicle)
- Medical emergency: 10177

260807 Advisory: Breek-en-gryp-aanvalle gerig op motoriste in Suid-Afrika
UNCLASSIFIED // OPEN SOURCE BASED Datum: 07 Augustus 2026
Breek-en-gryp-voorvalle bly ’n volgehoue en opportunistiese bedreiging dwarsdeur Suid-Afrika. Misdadigers teiken stilstaande of stadigbewegende voertuie by robotte, stopstrate, opeenhopings by kruisings, en naby winkelsentrums of petrolstasies.
AS JY ’N BREEK-EN-GRYP POGING TEËKOM
Doen:
- Stilstaande bly argumenteer of skade assesseer terwyl jy nog kwesbaar is nie.
AS JY REEDS ’N SLAGOFFER WAS
Doen:
- Beweeg so vinnig as moontlik na ’n veilige, goed verligte, besige plek.
- Kontak die SAPD (10111) en open ’n saak.
- Stel jou bank of selfoonnetwerkverskaffer onmiddellik in kennis as kaarte, fone of banktoepassings geneem is sodat rekeninge gevries kan word.
- Kontak jou versekeringsmaatskappy en hou alle dokumentasie by.
- Lig jou gewapende reaksie of gemeenskapsveiligheidsgroep in.
Moenie:
- Wees veral waaksaam by robotte, stopstrate en besige kruisings.
- Leer familielede, veral nuwe of jonger bestuurders, hierdie gewoontes as standaardpraktyk.
AANMELDING VAN VERDAGTE AKTIWITEIT OF VOORVALLE
- Noodgeval: 10111 (SAPD)
- Jou plaaslike polisiestasie
- Gewapende reaksie / privaat sekuriteitsverskaffer
- Crime Stop: 08600 10111
Meld verdagte individue aan wat by robotte loer of herhaaldelik voertuie nader.

ADVISORY: Safety Guidelines for SARS-Related Scams and Fake Tax Refund Tactics in South Africa
UNCLASSIFIED // OPEN SOURCE BASED
April 15, 2026
The South African Revenue Service (SARS) has warned of a rising criminal tactic where fraudsters impersonate SARS officials to trick taxpayers into revealing banking details or making payments, often under the guise of fake tax refunds, outstanding returns, or urgent compliance issues. These scams aim to empty bank accounts through phishing, spoofed emails/SMS, or social engineering.
The primary message from SARS, SAPS, the South African Banking Risk Information Centre (SABRIC), and consumer protection experts is clear: SARS will never ask you to make immediate payments or provide banking details via email, SMS, or unsolicited calls. Always verify directly through official channels. Report all suspicious SARS communications immediately.
IF YOU RECEIVE A SUSPICIOUS SARS MESSAGE OR CALL (INCIDENT IN PROGRESS)
Do:
- Do not click links, download attachments, or provide any personal or banking information.
- Hang up immediately on unsolicited calls claiming to be from SARS.
- Verify the matter yourself by logging into your eFiling account or contacting SARS via official numbers.
- Take screenshots of the message/call details (number, email address, content).
- Report immediately to SARS, SAPS, and your bank.
Do NOT:
- Respond to or engage with the message.
- Make any “urgent” payments or supply OTPs/banking details.
- Assume it is legitimate because it looks official or uses SARS branding.
IF YOU HAVE ALREADY SHARED DETAILS OR MADE A PAYMENT
Do:
- Contact your bank immediately to freeze accounts and reverse transactions if possible. • Report to SARS (official channels) and open a SAPS case.
- Monitor all accounts closely for further unauthorised activity.
- Change all passwords and enable two-factor authentication.
Do NOT:
- Ignore the incident or delay reporting.
GENERAL PREVENTION AND SAFETY TIPS
- Official SARS Communication: Real SARS communications come via eFiling, registered post, or verified SMS/email from official domains (sars.gov.za). They never request immediate bank transfers or OTPs.
- Red Flags: Unsolicited calls/emails demanding payment, threatening arrest, promising refunds, or asking for banking/OTP details.
- Verification: Always log into your eFiling profile directly (never via links) to check for real issues.
- Phishing Awareness: Hover over links to check URLs. Avoid clicking suspicious attachments.
- High-Risk Periods: Tax filing season (July–November) and refund periods when scammers are most active.
- Account Security: Use strong, unique passwords and enable 2FA on all financial and government accounts.
REPORTING SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY OR INCIDENTS
- Report to:
- SARS: Official fraud reporting via eFiling or 0800 00 7277.
- SAPS: 10111or local station (mention cyber/fraud).
- SABRIC or your bank’s fraud department.
- Crime Stop: 08600 10111.
- Provide: full message content, sender details, phone numbers, and screenshots.
- Early reporting helps track syndicates and protects others.
LEGAL AND COMMUNITY REMINDERS
- Impersonating SARS and financial fraud are serious crimes under the Cybercrimes Act and common law.
- Victims who report promptly have better chances of recovery.
- Public awareness and collaboration between SARS, SAPS, and banks are key to disrupting these syndicates.
EMERGENCY CONTACTS
- SAPS Emergency: 10111
- Crime Stop: 08600 10111
- SARS Fraud Line: 0800 00 7277
- Your bank’s 24-hour fraud line

ONGEKLASSIFISEER // GEBASEER OP OOPBRONNE
15 April 2026
AS JY ’N VERDAGTE SARS-BOODSKAP OF -OPROEP ONTVANG (INSIDENT IN PROGRESS)
Doen:
- Moenie skakels klik, aanhangsels aflaai of enige persoonlike of bankinligting verskaf nie.
- Enige “dringende” betalings maak of OTP’s/bankbesonderhede verskaf nie.
- Aanvaar dit is eg net omdat dit amptelik lyk nie.
ALGEMENE VOORKOMINGS- EN VEILIGHEIDSWENKE
- Amptelike SARS-kommunikasie: Kom via eFiling, geregistreerde pos of geverifieerde SMS/e-pos van sars.gov.za. Hulle versoek nooit onmiddellike bankoordragte nie.

ADVISORY: Safety Guidelines for Snake Encounters and Snake Bites in South Africa
UNCLASSIFIED // OPEN SOURCE BASED
May 16, 2026
South Africa is home to many venomous snakes (mambas, cobras, puff adders, boomslangs, etc.). Encounters are common in rural areas, farms, gardens, and during warmer months when snakes are more active. Most bites are preventable through awareness and caution. Prompt medical treatment is critical for venomous bites.
The primary message from Arrive Alive, the South African Snakebite Association, SAPS, and rural safety experts is clear: Avoid unnecessary encounters, remain vigilant in snake-prone areas, and seek immediate professional medical care for any bite. Do not attempt to catch or kill snakes yourself.
IF YOU ENCOUNTER A SNAKE (INCIDENT IN PROGRESS)
Do:
- Stay calm and keep a safe distance (at least 2–3 metres).
- Slowly back away without sudden movements.
- Alert others nearby and keep children/pets away.
- If on a road or path, give the snake space to move away.
- Once safe, report the sighting to local authorities or snake removal services if in a residential area.
Do NOT:
- Attempt to catch, kill, or provoke the snake.
- Approach or corner it — most bites occur when snakes feel threatened.
- Panic and run — this increases the chance of startling the snake.
IF A SNAKE BITE OCCURS
Do:
- Stay calm and immobilise the bitten limb (splint it if possible).
- Seek immediate medical attention — go to the nearest hospital with anti-venom facilities.
- Note the time of the bite and try to identify the snake (photo from a safe distance if possible).
- Remove tight clothing/jewellery near the bite site.
- Keep the victim still and transport them lying down if possible.
Do NOT:
- Cut, suck, or apply ice/tourniquets to the bite.
- Give the victim alcohol or painkillers.
- Chase or try to kill the snake for identification.
- Delay getting to a hospital — every minute counts.
GENERAL PREVENTION AND SAFETY TIPS
- Be vigilant in high-risk areas: Tall grass, woodpiles, rocky areas, gardens, and near water sources.
- Wear protective clothing: Closed shoes, long pants, and gloves when working in gardens or on farms.
- Home and property safety: Clear clutter, seal gaps under doors, keep grass short, and remove rodent attractants (snakes follow prey).
- Night-time caution: Use a torch when walking outside after dark.
- Children and pets: Educate children not to play in long grass or pick up “sticks”. Supervise pets.
- High-risk periods: Warmer months (spring to autumn), especially after rain when snakes are active.
- Snake removal: Use professional snake catchers rather than attempting removal yourself.
REPORTING SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY OR INCIDENTS
- Report snake sightings in residential/public areas to local municipality or snake removal services.
- Report bites or dangerous encounters to SAPS 10111 (if public safety risk) and seek medical help.
- Provide: exact location, snake description (colour, size, pattern), and bite details.
LEGAL AND COMMUNITY REMINDERS
- Snakes are protected under biodiversity laws — killing them unnecessarily is illegal in many cases.
- Responsible behaviour and community awareness reduce snakebite incidents significantly.
- Collaboration between Arrive Alive, rural communities, and health services improves outcomes.
EMERGENCY CONTACTS
- SAPS Emergency: 10111
- Nearest hospital or trauma centre (with anti-venom)
- National Snakebite Hotline or local snake removal services
- Childline (if child involved): 0800 55 555
- Always provide a clear location and description.
Final Word: Most snake encounters are avoidable through vigilance and respect for their space. By staying calm, wearing appropriate clothing, clearing habitats around homes, and seeking rapid medical care for bites, you and your family can greatly reduce risks. Arrive Alive, and snake safety experts emphasise that “prevention through awareness, safe behaviour in snake-prone areas, and immediate professional medical response save lives from snake bites in South Africa.”
Stay alert, respect wildlife, clear your surroundings, and seek help fast if bitten.

16 May 2026
AS JY ’N SLANG TEENKOM (INSIDENT IN PROGRESS)
Doen:
- Bly kalm en handhaaf ’n veilige afstand (ten minste 2–3 meter).
- Beweeg stadig agteruit sonder skielike bewegings.
AS ’N SLANGBYT GEBEUR
Doen:
- Slange word beskerm ingevolge biodiversiteitswette — onnodige doodmaak is in baie gevalle onwettig.
NOODKONTAKTE
- SAPS Nood: 10111
- Naaste hospitaal of traumacentrum (met anti-venom)
- Nasionale Slangbyt-noodlyn of plaaslike slangverwyderingsdienste
- Childline (indien kind betrokke): 0800 55 555

ADVISORY: Safety Guidelines for Counterfeit Goods and Mafia-Style Syndicates Using Spaza Shops in South Africa
UNCLASSIFIED // OPEN SOURCE BASED
April 15, 2026
Mafia-style criminal syndicates are increasingly using spaza shops and informal retail outlets as fronts to sell counterfeit and illicit products (especially household cleaning items, detergents, and FMCG brands). These operations involve illegal manufacturing in hidden facilities, repackaging into fake branded containers, and distribution through township economies. Recent seizures (e.g., Hawks operations in Boksburg) highlight risks of toxic chemicals, financial losses to legitimate businesses, and harm to consumers (including child deaths linked to counterfeit products).
The primary message from SAPS (including the Hawks), the South African Spaza and Tuck Shop Association (SASTA), the National Consumer Commission, and business safety experts is clear: Avoid suspiciously cheap or duplicate-looking products from informal outlets. Prioritise legitimate retailers and verify packaging. Report counterfeit goods and suspicious spaza operations immediately.
IF YOU ENCOUNTER SUSPICIOUS OR COUNTERFEIT PRODUCTS
Do:
- Check packaging carefully: look for spelling errors, poor print quality, inconsistent logos, missing batch numbers, or unusual smells/textures.
- Buy from reputable retailers, supermarkets, or official spaza shops with visible business registration.
- If you suspect a product is counterfeit or harmful, stop using it, preserve the packaging, and report it.
- Seek medical attention immediately if anyone shows signs of illness after using a suspect product.
Do NOT:
- Purchase unusually cheap versions of well-known brands (e.g., cleaning products, soaps, detergents) from informal vendors.
- Ignore warnings about toxic counterfeit chemicals.
- Confront shop owners yourself if you suspect criminal activity.
IF YOU OWN OR OPERATE A SPAZA SHOP OR SMALL RETAIL BUSINESS
Do:
- Source stock only from verified wholesalers and legitimate suppliers.
- Display your business registration and tax documents visibly.
- Cooperate with regular municipal and police inspections.
- Report pressure from syndicates or suspicious suppliers to SAPS.
Do NOT:
- Accept suspiciously cheap stock or deals that seem too good to be true.
- Allow your shop to be used as a front for illicit goods.
GENERAL PREVENTION AND SAFETY TIPS
- Consumer Vigilance: Stick to trusted brands from formal retailers. Compare prices and packaging quality.
- Red Flags: Extremely low prices on premium brands, recycled-looking containers, missing safety seals, or products sold from informal setups.
- Community Awareness: Support legitimate spaza shops and report illegal operations through community structures.
- High-Risk Products: Household cleaners, detergents, personal care items, and foodstuffs are frequently counterfeited.
- Business Protection: Legitimate retailers and manufacturers should collaborate with SASTA, the National Consumer Commission, and SAPS to combat illicit trade.
REPORTING SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY OR INCIDENTS
- Report counterfeit goods or suspicious spaza operations to:
– SAPS 10111 or local station (mention Hawks if serious).
– National Consumer Commission hotline.
– SASTA national hotline (for spaza-related complaints).
– Municipal health/environmental officers.
- Provide: photos of products/packaging, shop location, and details of suspected illicit activity.
- Early reporting protects consumers and supports enforcement actions.
LEGAL AND COMMUNITY REMINDERS
- Manufacturing and selling counterfeit goods is a serious offence (trademark infringement, fraud, and potential endangerment).
- Spaza shops used as fronts for crime face closure and prosecution.
- Collaboration between SAPS, SASTA, municipalities, and the private sector is essential to protect legitimate businesses and consumers.
EMERGENCY CONTACTS
- SAPS Emergency: 10111
- Crime Stop: 08600 10111
- National Consumer Commission
- SASTA Hotline (for spaza complaints)
- Your local municipality’s health department
- Always provide clear evidence and location details.
Final Word: Mafia-style syndicates are exploiting spaza shops to flood townships with dangerous counterfeit products, harming legitimate businesses, consumers, and the economy. By staying vigilant, buying from trusted sources, checking packaging carefully, and reporting suspicious activity promptly, communities and consumers can help disrupt these networks. Authorities and associations stress that “regular inspections, consumer awareness, legitimate sourcing, and strong enforcement are key to stopping illicit trade through informal retail.”
Stay alert, verify products, support legitimate businesses, and report responsibly.

ADVISORY: Safety Guidelines for Scholar Transport (School Transport) in South Africa
UNCLASSIFIED // OPEN SOURCE BASED
May 11, 2026
Scholar transport (school buses, taxis, and private operators) is used daily by millions of South African learners. Recent tragic incidents highlight the risks posed by overloading, unroadworthy vehicles, unqualified drivers, and poor safety practices. Parents and caregivers play a critical role in verifying operators and vehicles.
The primary message from SAPS, the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC), Department of Basic Education, Discovery Safe Journeys to School, and child safety experts is clear: Verify the driver’s Professional Driving Permit (PrDP), operating licence, and vehicle roadworthiness before allowing your child to board. Prioritise safety checks over convenience. Report unsafe operators immediately.
IF YOU NOTICE UNSAFE SCHOLAR TRANSPORT (INCIDENT IN PROGRESS)
Do:
- Check key documents: valid PrDP on the driver’s licence, operating licence, roadworthy certificate, and vehicle licence disc.
- Inspect the vehicle: seatbelts working, tyres in good condition, no overloading, doors secure from inside, windows intact.
- Ensure the driver is alert, not using a cellphone, and the vehicle is not a bakkie or open vehicle for children.
- If unsafe, do not let your child board — arrange alternative transport and report immediately.
- Document issues with photos and report to the operator, school, and authorities.
Do NOT:
- Allow your child to board an overloaded, unroadworthy, or suspicious vehicle.
- Ignore expired permits or poor driver behaviour.
- Assume “it’s always been fine” without regular checks.
GENERAL PREVENTION AND SAFETY TIPS
- Legal Requirements: Drivers must hold a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) (with medical and criminal checks), a valid operating licence, and a current roadworthy certificate.
- Vehicle Checklist:
– No transport on the back of bakkies or open vehicles.
– Number of learners must not exceed available seats.
– Seatbelts functional for every child.
– Tyres not worn or smooth.
– Doors and windows safe.
– Indicators, brakes, and wipers working.
- Driver Standards: Alert, rested, no cellphone use while driving. Regular health screenings recommended.
- Pick-up/Drop-off Points: Choose safe, well-lit, supervised locations. Teach children safe boarding behaviour.
- High-Risk Periods: Peak school terms, rainy weather, and month-ends when fatigue or shortcuts may occur.
- Community Role: Support programmes like Discovery Safe Journeys to School. Report unsafe operators anonymously.
REPORTING SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY OR UNSAFE PRACTICES
- Report immediately to:
– School principal or governing body.
– SAPS 10111 or local traffic department.
– RTMC / Provincial Transport Department.
– Anonymous tip line: 0861 400 800 or 012 999 5407.
- Provide: vehicle registration, operator details, photos, and specific safety concerns.
- Early reporting prevents accidents and improves sector standards.
LEGAL AND COMMUNITY REMINDERS
- Overloading, expired permits, and unroadworthy vehicles are illegal and endanger lives.
- Parents have the right (and responsibility) to verify safety.
- Collaboration between operators, schools, parents, and authorities (including initiatives like Discovery Safe Journeys to School) has achieved zero fatalities in participating groups.
EMERGENCY CONTACTS
- SAPS Emergency: 10111
- Childline (if child safety is involved): 0800 55 555
- Provincial Transport / Traffic Department

ADVISORY: Safety Guidelines for Criminal Tactics Targeting Short-Term Rentals (Airbnb & Similar) in South Africa
UNCLASSIFIED // OPEN SOURCE BASED
April 15, 2026
Criminals are increasingly targeting short-term rental properties (Airbnb, Booking.com, private rentals) as the industry grows rapidly in South Africa. Common tactics include fraudulent bookings using stolen or fake identities, third-party reservations for accomplices, theft during stays, and attempts to move conversations off-platform to avoid evidence trails. Hosts face financial losses, property damage, and safety risks, while guests can also be affected.
The primary message from SAPS, private security experts, and short-term rental specialists (e.g., South Africa Airbnb Playbook) is clear: Strong vetting, platform discipline, and physical security are essential. Never move conversations off the booking platform. Prioritise verification over maximising bookings. Report suspicious activity immediately.
IF YOU SUSPECT A FRAUDULENT OR SUSPICIOUS BOOKING (INCIDENT IN PROGRESS)
Do:
- Verify all bookings thoroughly: check guest profile picture, ID verification, time on the platform, review history, and profile completeness.
- Keep all communication strictly inside the booking platform (Airbnb, etc.) — never move to WhatsApp, SMS, email, or calls.
- Request additional verification (ID copy or video call) for new or suspicious guests.
- Install visible security measures (cameras, smart locks, inventory lists with photos).
- If theft or damage occurs, open a SAPS case immediately and document everything.
Do NOT:
- Accept third-party bookings (“booking for a friend/family”) without full verification of the actual guest.
- Allow conversations to move off the platform.
- Ignore red flags such as no profile photo, unverified ID, or pressure to book outside the platform.
IF A GUEST IS ALREADY ON YOUR PROPERTY AND YOU NOTICE PROBLEMS
Do:
- Document everything (photos, videos, inventory discrepancies).
- Contact the platform’s emergency line immediately.
- Report to SAPS with evidence.
- Activate the armed response or notify the neighbours if safety is compromised.
Do NOT:
- Confront guests aggressively without support.
- Allow additional people to stay without platform approval.
GENERAL PREVENTION AND SAFETY TIPS
- Guest Vetting: Always review profile completeness, reviews from other hosts, ID verification, and booking history. Decline or request more info for incomplete profiles.
- Platform Discipline: Keep every conversation, payment, and agreement inside the official app/platform.
- Property Security: Install external cameras (visible), smart locks, Wi-Fi cameras inside communal areas, and detailed photo inventories of all items.
- Third-Party Bookings: Treat these as high-risk — verify the actual occupant.
- High-Risk Periods: Peak tourist seasons, holidays, and major events when demand is high.
- Insurance & Protection: Use Airbnb’s AirCover (or equivalent), but still open a police case and keep strong evidence.
- Neighbourhood Watch: Inform neighbours and local security when renting out.
REPORTING SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY OR INCIDENTS
- Report immediately to the booking platform’s emergency/ resolution centre.
- Open a SAPS case (10111 or local station) for theft, fraud, or trespass.
- Provide: booking reference, guest details, screenshots, and photos of damage/theft.
- Early, well-documented reporting improves chances of recovery and platform support.
LEGAL AND COMMUNITY REMINDERS
- Fraudulent bookings and theft from short-term rentals are serious crimes (theft, fraud).
- Hosts have the right to protect their property, but must comply with the platform’s and legal processes.
- Collaboration between hosts, platforms, SAPS, and community security is increasing to address this growing trend.
EMERGENCY CONTACTS
- SAPS Emergency: 10111
- Crime Stop: 08600 10111
- Your armed response/neighbourhood security
- Booking platform emergency line (Airbnb Host Support, etc.)
- Always provide booking references, guest details, and evidence.
Final Word: Short-term rentals offer excellent income opportunities but have become prime targets for criminals using identity fraud and off-platform tactics. By implementing strict vetting, keeping all communication on-platform, installing appropriate security measures, and documenting everything, hosts can significantly reduce risks. Experts emphasise that “thorough guest screening, platform discipline, visible security, and prompt reporting protect your property and the growing short-term rental industry in South Africa.”
Stay vigilant, verify thoroughly, secure your property, and report responsibly.
Sources: Compiled from BusinessTech reports on short-term rental crime trends (May 2026), insights from South Africa Airbnb Playbook author Lethabo Lee Ntshudisane, SAPS fraud and theft advisories, and private security recommendations for property owners (2022–2026). Advice is consistent with law enforcement and industry experts.

South Africa: Constitutional Court Ruling Revives Impeachment Proceedings Against President Ramaphosa
UNCLASSIFIED / / OPEN SOURCE-BASED
May 8, 2026
South Africa’s Constitutional Court on 8 May 2026 delivered a landmark judgment (CCT 35/24) reviving impeachment proceedings against President Cyril Ramaphosa. The Court declared National Assembly Rule 129I unconstitutional and set it aside, invalidated the 13 December 2022 parliamentary vote (214-148) that blocked referral of the independent panel report, and ordered the Speaker to refer the November 2022 Ngcobo Panel Report directly to the Impeachment Committee. While the ruling strengthens constitutional accountability mechanisms, it introduces acute short-term political risk to Ramaphosa’s leadership and the stability of the post-2024 Government of National Unity (GNU).
Under Section 89(1) of the Constitution, the National Assembly may remove the President by a two-thirds majority only on grounds of a serious violation of the Constitution or law, serious misconduct, or inability to perform the functions of office. The independent panel chaired by former Chief Justice Sandile Ngcobo found prima facie evidence that Ramaphosa may have committed such violations in relation to the February 2020 Phala Phala burglary, where large sums of undeclared foreign currency (allegedly proceeds of a buffalo sale) were hidden at his private game farm. In 2022, the ANC’s outright majority enabled it to terminate the process after the panel’s report. Following the ANC’s loss of its majority in the May 2024 national elections, the party now governs in a GNU coalition with the Democratic Alliance (DA) and smaller parties.
The main threats centre on the revived impeachment process and its political fallout. For Ramaphosa and the ANC, the inquiry will now proceed without the procedural shield they previously enjoyed. The Impeachment Committee must examine the panel’s detailed findings—including concerns over undeclared currency, failure to report the theft under anti-corruption laws, involvement of presidential protection unit personnel, and inconsistencies in explanations provided to the panel. Although removal remains unlikely (requiring 261 votes in the 400-member Assembly), the process will dominate the political agenda for months, exposing the President to sustained scrutiny and damaging his reputation for clean governance.
The ANC faces the loss of unilateral control. In 2022 it blocked referral alone; today it must secure support from GNU partners, particularly the DA, or risk ad-hoc opposition alliances pushing the matter forward. EFF leader Julius Malema has already demanded immediate committee action and Ramaphosa’s resignation, while the ATM hailed the ruling as a victory for accountability. The DA has indicated it will engage on the evidence rather than offer blanket protection.
The most dangerous escalation risks are second-order effects on GNU cohesion and governance. A protracted, highly public inquiry could fracture coalition relations, particularly if the DA distances itself to protect its anti-corruption credentials or if smaller parties leverage the process for concessions. Internal ANC divisions over leadership may intensify ahead of local government elections and the party’s next elective conference. Ramaphosa could face growing pressure to resign voluntarily to avoid prolonged embarrassment, triggering a destabilising succession contest within the ANC. Even without removal, the distraction risks slowing critical policy implementation and coalition negotiations.
The National Assembly retains the option to amend its rules to restore a constitutional framework for future Section 89 matters, as contemplated in the Court’s reading-in remedy. Ramaphosa’s office has stated it respects the judgment and will cooperate with the process. However, the actors appear resigned to the inquiry unfolding. The most likely outlook is several months of intense political theatre, and media focus on the Phala Phala matter, with Ramaphosa surviving the formal process but emerging significantly weakened. GNU stability will be tested but is expected to hold in the near term, though underlying coalition tensions will remain elevated through at least the end of 2026.
COUNTRY RISK REPORT: SOMALIA
UNCLASSIFIED / / OPEN-SOURCE BASED
Date: 8 May 2026
Somalia faces a deepening constitutional crisis as the federal president’s four-year mandate expires on 15 May 2026 without national elections having been held. The federal parliament’s term ended on 14 April 2026, also without a successor legislature. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s government has relied on controversial constitutional amendments passed in March 2026 to extend both parliamentary and presidential terms to five years and to shift toward direct “one-person, one-vote” elections. Opposition parties, the Somali Future Council, and several federal member states (FMS) reject these changes as illegitimate power grabs. The resulting standoff has created a high risk of institutional paralysis and renewed political violence in the coming weeks, even as the Islamist militant group Al-Shabaab continues to exploit divisions across the country.
Under Somalia’s provisional constitution, the bicameral Federal Parliament—comprising the House of the People and the Upper House—selects the president, who then appoints a prime minister and cabinet. Traditionally, members of parliament have been chosen through an indirect, clan-based (4.5 formula) system involving elders and regional assemblies. The government’s recent amendments aim to replace this with universal suffrage, but implementation has been repeatedly delayed by logistical, security, and political obstacles. No credible nationwide electoral timetable exists. The ruling alliance around President Mohamud appears intent on retaining power through the extended mandates and phased regional polls, while the opposition insists that both parliament and the presidency lost legal authority on their constitutional expiry dates. A negotiated compromise seems unlikely in the short term.
Security threats are already intensifying along multiple axes. In southern and central regions, Al-Shabaab has stepped up attacks on civilians and security forces, launching coordinated operations in March 2026 that killed at least 47 people in targeted assassinations and ambushes. The group has publicly welcomed the federal government’s weakening legitimacy, viewing the crisis as an opportunity to expand its influence in areas where state coordination is fracturing. Federal-regional tensions pose an even more immediate danger. In late March 2026, federal troops intervened in Baidoa, the capital of South West State, ousting President Abdiaziz Laftagareen after the state suspended cooperation with Mogadishu; the move was framed by critics as an unconstitutional power play. Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni has warned that, absent a political agreement by 15 May, the federal government “will no longer be considered in existence,” raising the spectre of de facto non-recognition by key FMS. Jubaland has issued similar alarms. These rifts threaten to disrupt joint counter-insurgency efforts and could spark localised clashes between federal forces and regional militias.
The most dangerous post-15 May risks centre on competing claims to legitimacy. If President Mohamud attempts to remain in office on the basis of the disputed extensions, opposition leaders have signalled they will reject his authority and may convene parallel political processes or even form alternative governance structures. Such a scenario could produce dual centres of power, particularly in Puntland and Jubaland, and trigger street-level violence in Mogadishu or targeted assassinations of officials. A fragmented federal system would further erode security cooperation against Al-Shabaab, allowing the militants to consolidate control over rural supply routes and urban peripheries. Escalation could also draw in external patrons—Turkey, the UAE, and Gulf states—which have competing interests in different FMS. In the worst case, renewed political violence would compound Somalia’s existing humanitarian crisis and delay the African Union transition mission’s planned drawdown.
The federal government’s options remain limited. President Mohamud has called for national dialogue talks (tentatively scheduled around 10 May), but opposition figures have set stringent preconditions and show little willingness to participate without major concessions. Additional security deployments around key institutions are expected, yet they risk inflaming regional suspicions. Absent a last-minute inclusive agreement on an electoral roadmap and power-sharing, the most likely outlook for the coming weeks and months is prolonged institutional uncertainty, incremental erosion of federal cohesion, and heightened Al-Shabaab activity. While outright civil war remains improbable in the near term, the crisis has already weakened the state’s ability to govern and secure its territory, setting Somalia on a precarious trajectory through the remainder of 2026.
ADVISORY: Safety Guidelines for Online Networks Targeting Children in South Africa
UNCLASSIFIED // OPEN SOURCE BASED
April 15, 2026
Sophisticated online networks systematically identify and groom vulnerable children through social media, gaming platforms, chat apps, and encrypted services. Predators use behavioural signals, gradual grooming phases, and AI tools to build trust, isolate, and exploit children. These are not random attacks but targeted operations that exploit emotional needs. South African children are at risk just as children worldwide are.
The primary message from the South African Police Service (SAPS), National Department of Social Development (DSD), Childline, and child protection experts is clear: Build trust and open communication first. Teach children that coming forward brings help, not punishment. Combine awareness, rules, and technology for layered protection. Act early at the first signs of isolation or secrecy.
IF YOU SUSPECT YOUR CHILD IS BEING TARGETED OR GROOMED (INCIDENT IN PROGRESS)
Do:
- Stay calm and reassure your child: “We will handle this together. You are not in trouble, and it is not your fault.”
- Immediately stop all contact with the suspicious person — block and report on the platform.
- Preserve evidence: screenshots of conversations, usernames, profiles, dates, and any images exchanged. Do not delete anything.
- Talk openly with your child about what happened, and seek professional support (e.g., Childline or a counsellor).
- Report to SAPS, Childline, and the platform. If images are involved, report to the Film and Publication Board.
Do NOT:
- Panic, blame, or punish your child — these only drive them further into secrecy.
- Confront the suspected groomer yourself.
- Ignore secrecy, rapid emotional bonding, or requests to move to private apps.
IF YOUR CHILD SHOWS SIGNS OF BEING APPROACHED ONLINE
Do:
- Listen without judgment and document patterns (late-night activity, withdrawal from family, new “friends,” secrecy).
- Review apps and devices together in a supportive way.
- Strengthen real-life connections so your child seeks validation from family and trusted friends first.
- Activate monitoring tools while explaining why you are doing it.
Do NOT:
- Dismiss emotional posts or late-night online time as “normal teen behaviour.”
- Assume “my child would tell me” without having explicitly promised safety first.
GENERAL PREVENTION AND SAFETY TIPS
- Build Trust: Repeatedly tell your children: “If anything uncomfortable happens online, come to me. No punishment — we will fix it together.”
- Rules Like Real Life: No private chats with strangers, especially at night. Devices in shared spaces after bedtime. Treat online spaces as public.
- Teach Red Flags:
– Strangers who quickly become your “best friend” or only supporter.
– Pressure to keep secrets from parents.
– Moving conversations to encrypted/private apps.
– Requests for photos, personal details, or meeting up.
- Monitor Patterns: Watch for loneliness posts, late-night activity, withdrawal from family/friends, or sudden secrecy.
- AI Awareness: Explain that many “peers” online may be fake profiles created by adults or AI.
- Layered Protection: Use parental controls and monitoring as support — not the only defence. Focus on open conversations and real-world confidence.
- High-risk Platforms: Gaming chats, social media DMs, and anonymous apps require extra vigilance.
REPORTING SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY OR INCIDENTS
- Report immediately:
– Childline: 116 or 0800 55 555 (24 hours)
– SAPS: 10111 or nearest station (Cybercrime Unit)
– DSD GBV Command Centre: 0800 428 428
– Platform reporting tools and CyberTipline (international)
- Provide usernames, screenshots, and timelines.
- Early reporting protects your child and helps stop networks.
LEGAL AND COMMUNITY REMINDERS
- Online grooming and exploitation of children are serious crimes under the Sexual Offences Act and Cybercrimes Act.
- Mandatory reporting applies to many professionals. Parents play the most important role through awareness and trust.
- Collaboration between families, schools, SAPS, DSD, and NGOs creates safer online spaces.
EMERGENCY CONTACTS
- Childline South Africa: 116 or 0800 55 555 (24-hour)
- SAPS Emergency: 10111
- DSD GBV Command Centre: 0800 428 428
- SAPS Cybercrime Unit (provincial)
- Always provide clear details and evidence.
Final Word: Online networks target children by exploiting emotional vulnerabilities and building secret relationships. By building trust at home, teaching clear red flags, treating the internet like the real world, and responding with support rather than punishment, you make your child a much harder target. Experts emphasise that “strong family connection, open communication, pattern awareness, and quick reporting break grooming cycles and protect children.”
Stay connected, stay aware, keep communication open, and report responsibly.
Sources: Compiled from child protection guidelines by DSD, SAPS, Childline South Africa, NICD behavioural insights, international best practices (NCMEC, FBI patterns), and verified expert briefings on online grooming (2022–2026). Advice aligns with South African law and child safety authorities.

AS JY VERMOED JOU KIND WORD GETEIKEN OF GE-GROOM (INSIDENT IN PROGRESS)
Doen:
Moenie:
- Paniek, blameer of straf jou kind nie — dit dryf hulle verder in geheimhouding.
- Die vermeende groomer self konfronteer nie.
- Geheimhouding, vinnige emosionele binding of versoeke na private apps ignoreer nie.
AS JOU KIND TEKENS VAN AANLYN-BENADERING TOON
Doen:
- Versterk werklike lewe-verbindings sodat jou kind eers by familie en vertroude vriende ondersteuning soek.
- Aktiveer moniteringstelsels terwyl jy verduidelik hoekom.
Moenie:
- Emosionele plasings of laatnag-aanlyn-tyd as “normale tienergedrag” afmaak nie.
- Aanvaar “my kind sal my vertel” sonder om veiligheid eerste duidelik belowe het nie.
ALGEMENE VOORKOMINGS- EN VEILIGHEIDSWENKE
- Bou Vertroue: Sê herhaaldelik: “As enigiets ongemaklik aanlyn gebeur, kom na my toe. Geen straf — ons sal dit saam regmaak.”
- Reëls Soos Werklike Lewe: Geen private chats met vreemdelinge, veral snags nie. Toestelle in gedeelde ruimtes na slaaptyd.
- Leer Rooi Vlae:
– Vreemdelinge wat vinnig “beste vriend” word.
– Druk om geheime van ouers te hou.
– Verskuif na geënkripteerde apps.
– Versoeke vir foto’s of persoonlike inligting.
RAPPORTERING VAN VERDAGTE AKTIWITEIT OF INSIDENTE
- Rapporteer onmiddellik:
– Childline: 116 of 0800 55 555 (24 uur)
– SAPS: 10111
– DSD GBV-opdragsentrum: 0800 428 428
NOODKONTAKTE
- Childline Suid-Afrika: 116 of 0800 55 555
- SAPS Nood: 10111
- DSD GBV-opdragsentrum: 0800 428 428
- SAPS Kubermisdaad-eenheid

ADVISORY: Safety Guidelines for Illegal Hunting with Dogs on Farms in South Africa
UNCLASSIFIED // OPEN SOURCE BASED
April 15, 2026
Illegal hunting with large packs of dogs (often 20–60 dogs) is increasing, especially in the Free State and other rural provinces. These groups often enter farms without permission, leading to stock theft, poaching, trespassing, and other crimes. SAPS operations, such as Shanella II, are actively targeting these activities with arrests and seizures.
The primary message from SAPS, TLU SA, Agri SA, and rural safety experts is clear: Legal hunting requires written permission from the landowner and valid permits. Do not confront hunters. Report them immediately to the police.
IF YOU ENCOUNTER ILLEGAL HUNTING WITH DOGS (INCIDENT IN PROGRESS)
Do:
- Stay calm and ensure your personal safety — do not confront the group.
- Safely note: number of people, vehicles, dogs, registration numbers, descriptions, exact GPS location, and direction of travel.
- Report immediately to SAPS 10111 or your local Stock Theft Unit.
- Activate farm security (armed response, cameras, neighbours) and secure your livestock.
- Take photos or videos only from a safe distance.
Do NOT:
- Approach, chase, or engage with the hunters or their dogs.
- Allow unknown groups with dogs onto your property.
- Interfere with animals, firearms, or vehicles yourself.
IF YOU WITNESS OR HEAR ABOUT ILLEGAL HUNTING
Do:
- Report promptly to SAPS with accurate details only.
- Alert neighbouring farms and your farm watch group.
- Provide information to support police operations.
Do NOT:
- Spread unverified information on social media.
- Attempt your own arrest unless you are in immediate danger.
GENERAL PREVENTION AND SAFETY TIPS
- Farm security: Install clear “No Trespassing – No Hunting” signs, secure gates, and use cameras. Join or strengthen your local farm watch.
- Legal requirements: Always demand written permission and valid provincial hunting permits. Hunting without permission on enclosed land carries a reversed burden of proof.
- Livestock protection: Monitor animals closely, especially during peak hunting seasons. Use secure night kraals where possible.
- High-risk times: Weekends, holidays, and winter/spring seasons. Groups often target Free State, North West, and Mpumalanga farms.
- Suspicious activity: Report vehicles carrying large numbers of dogs in rural areas.
REPORTING SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY OR INCIDENTS
- Call SAPS 10111 or Crime Stop 08600 10111 immediately.
- Contact your provincial Stock Theft Unit.
- Provide: GPS coordinates, vehicle and dog details, and any camera footage.
- Early reporting helps police operations and leads to arrests.
LEGAL AND COMMUNITY REMINDERS
- Illegal hunting with dogs is a serious offence and is often linked to stock theft.
- Landowners have the right to protect their property.
- Strong cooperation between farmers and SAPS disrupts these criminal activities.
EMERGENCY CONTACTS

ADVISORY: Safety Guidelines for Snow, Extreme Cold, and Associated Hazards in South Africa
UNCLASSIFIED // OPEN SOURCE BASED
5 May, 2026
Snowfall and extreme cold conditions, particularly during winter cold fronts, affect high-lying areas of the Western Cape and Eastern Cape, the Drakensberg (KwaZulu-Natal/Free State), and parts of the interior. These events bring disruptive snow on mountain passes, black ice, hypothermia risk, livestock losses, power outages, and dangerous driving conditions. High-altitude farms, rural communities, and travellers on passes (e.g., Chapman’s Peak, Bainskloof, Naudesberg, etc.) are most vulnerable.
The primary message from the South African Weather Service (SAWS), National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC), SAPS, Arrive Alive, and agricultural organisations is clear: Heed all SAWS snow and cold warnings. Avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas. Prioritise warmth, livestock protection, and farm/home preparedness. Report emergencies immediately.
IF YOU ARE IN A SNOW OR EXTREME COLD AREA (INCIDENT IN PROGRESS)
Do:
- Stay indoors or in a sheltered, heated area where possible. Dress in multiple layers of warm clothing and monitor for signs of hypothermia (shivering, confusion, drowsiness).
- If driving, reduce speed dramatically, increase following distance, and use low gears on descents. Fit snow chains if available and legal. Turn around if conditions worsen.
- For livestock: Move animals to sheltered pens with extra bedding, hay, and unfrozen water. Check regularly for frostbite or weakness.
- Conserve heat: Close off unused rooms, use safe heating sources, and have emergency lighting/blankets ready.
- Check on vulnerable people (elderly, children, farm workers). Activate your farm or family emergency plan.
Do NOT:
- Travel on mountain passes or rural roads during active snowfall unless absolutely essential.
- Do not leave vehicles idling in enclosed spaces (carbon monoxide risk).
- Ignore early signs of cold stress in people or animals.
IF YOU WITNESS SOMEONE IN DISTRESS DUE TO COLD OR SNOW (STRANDED, HYPERTHERMIA, ETC.)
Do:
- Call for professional help immediately (SAPS 10111 or 112) with the exact GPS location.
- If safe and trained, provide basic shelter, warm (not hot) fluids, and blankets — do not rub frostbitten areas.
- Report road blockages or stranded vehicles to authorities.
Do NOT:
- Attempt risky rescues on icy slopes or flooded/snow-covered roads without proper equipment.
- Leave the scene without notifying responders.
GENERAL PREVENTION AND SAFETY TIPS
- Monitor warnings: Check SAWS regularly for snow, frost, and cold front alerts.
- Vehicle preparedness: Carry emergency kits (warm blankets, water, snacks, torch, shovel, chains). Ensure tyres are suitable and fuel is topped up.
- Home and farm readiness: Insulate pipes, secure livestock shelters, stockpile feed and generator fuel. Clear snow from roofs to prevent collapse.
- Personal protection: Wear appropriate clothing (waterproof outer layer, insulated boots). Limit time outdoors.
- High-risk groups: Farmers, travellers on passes, the elderly, and those in informal housing face higher risks.
- High-risk periods: Mid-winter (June–August) and sudden cold snaps after rain.
REPORTING SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY OR EMERGENCIES
- Report immediately via SAPS 10111, National Emergency Number 112, or local Disaster Management Centre.
- Provide: exact GPS, number of people/animals affected, and nature of the emergency (stranded, hypothermia, snow-blocked roads).
- Early reporting enables faster rescue and relief.
LEGAL AND COMMUNITY REMINDERS
- Ignoring official warnings endangers lives and rescue teams.
- Collaboration between SAWS, NDMC, SAPS, and farming communities has supported successful responses to severe cold events.

ADVISORY: Safety Guidelines for Hantavirus (Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome / Haemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome) in South Africa
UNCLASSIFIED // OPEN SOURCE BASED
April 15, 2026
Hantavirus infections are rare in South Africa and not considered endemic, but imported cases have been reported in travellers returning from rodent-exposed areas. The virus is transmitted through contact with infected rodents (rats, mice) or their urine, droppings, saliva, or nesting materials. It causes two main syndromes: Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS — severe lung involvement) and Haemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome (HFRS — kidney involvement). There is no specific treatment or vaccine; early medical care improves outcomes.
The primary message from the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), the National Department of Health (NDoH), the WHO, and the CDC is clear: Prevention through rodent control and avoidance of exposure to rodent waste is the only effective defence. Prioritise personal and family protection in rodent-prone areas. Seek immediate medical attention if symptoms develop after possible exposure. Report suspected cases promptly.
IF YOU SUSPECT HANTAVIRUS EXPOSURE OR DEVELOP SYMPTOMS (INCIDENT IN PROGRESS)
Do:
- Seek immediate medical care if you develop fever, fatigue, muscle aches, headache, dizziness, chills, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhoea (especially 1–8 weeks after rodent exposure), followed by shortness of breath or reduced urine output. Inform the doctor of any rodent contact or travel history.
- Isolate yourself from others if symptoms appear and wear a mask if coughing.
- Supportive hospital care (oxygen, fluids, monitoring) may be required — early ICU admission can be life-saving.
- Report the suspected case to your healthcare provider, who must notify the provincial Department of Health and NICD.
Do NOT:
- Ignore early flu-like symptoms after rodent exposure.
- Attempt self-treatment or delay seeking professional medical help.
- Clean rodent-infested areas without proper protective equipment.
IF YOU WITNESS OR ARE INFORMED OF A SUSPECTED HANTAVIRUS CASE OR RODENT INFESTATION
Do:
- Encourage the affected person to seek immediate medical evaluation.
- Report rodent infestations or potential exposure clusters to your local municipality or environmental health office.
- Support community rodent control efforts.
Do NOT:
- Handle rodents or their waste without protection.
- Spread unverified information that could cause panic.
GENERAL PREVENTION AND SAFETY TIPS
- Rodent control: Seal cracks and holes in homes, garages, and sheds. Store food in rodent-proof containers. Remove clutter, woodpiles, and debris near buildings. Use traps and professional pest control where needed.
- Cleaning rodent areas safely: Wet areas with disinfectant (e.g., 10% bleach solution) before cleaning to avoid aerosolising droppings. Wear gloves, N95 mask, and protective clothing. Double-bag and dispose of waste properly. Never sweep or vacuum dry droppings.
- High-risk activities: Be extra cautious when cleaning long-unused buildings, barns, sheds, or camping areas. Farmers, forestry workers, and rural residents face a higher risk.
- Travel awareness: Avoid rodent-infested areas when travelling to endemic regions. Practise good hygiene.
- Pet and domestic rodents: Keep pet rats separate from wild rodents and consult a vet for testing if needed.
- High-risk periods: Increased vigilance during rainy seasons or when rodent populations surge.
REPORTING SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY OR INCIDENTS
- Report suspected cases or clusters immediately to your nearest healthcare facility, provincial Department of Health, or NICD (011 386 6000).
- Environmental health officers handle rodent control reports via local municipalities.
- Provide: exposure history (rodent contact, travel), symptom timeline, and location details.
- Early reporting supports surveillance and prevents further cases.
LEGAL AND COMMUNITY REMINDERS
- Hantavirus is a notifiable condition in South Africa. Healthcare providers must report suspected or confirmed cases.
- Collaboration between NDoH, NICD, municipalities, and communities is key to rodent control and public awareness.
- Responsible prevention and reporting protect vulnerable populations and limit outbreaks.
EMERGENCY CONTACTS
- National Health Emergency Line or the nearest hospital emergency department
- NICD Hotline: 011 386 6000 (or provincial equivalents)
- SAPS Emergency (for related environmental hazards): 10111
- Local Municipality Environmental Health Services
- Always provide clear exposure and symptom details.
Final Word: Hantavirus is a serious but preventable zoonotic disease transmitted primarily through rodent waste. By maintaining strict rodent control, safely cleaning infested areas, avoiding unnecessary exposure, and seeking prompt medical care for symptoms after potential contact, you and your family can significantly reduce risk. Initiatives from NICD, NDoH, WHO, and CDC emphasise that “rodent-proofing homes, safe cleaning practices, awareness of exposure risks, and early medical intervention are the best defences against hantavirus infections.”
Stay vigilant, control rodents, clean safely, and seek medical help promptly if exposed.

Daar is geen spesifieke behandeling of entstof nie; vroeë mediese sorg verbeter uitkomste.
Rapporteer vermoede gevalle vinnig.
AS JY HANTAVIRUS-BLOOTSTELLING VERMOED OF SIMPTOME ONTWIKKEL (INSIDENT IN PROGRESS)
Doen:
- Soek onmiddellike mediese sorg as jy koors, moegheid, spierpyne, hoofpyn, duiseligheid, kouekoors, naarheid, braking of diarree ontwikkel (veral 1–8 weke na knaagdier-blootstelling), gevolg deur kortasem of verminderde urine-uitset.
- isoleer jouself van ander as simptome verskyn en dra ’n masker as jy hoes.
Moenie:
- Vroeë griepagtige simptome na knaagdier-blootstelling ignoreer nie.
- Selfbehandeling probeer of mediese hulp uitstel nie.
- Knaagdier-besmette areas skoonmaak sonder behoorlike beskermende toerusting nie.
AS JY ’N VERMEENDE HANTAVIRUS-GEVAL OF KNAAGDIER-BESMETTING AANSKOU OF INLIGTING KRY
Doen:
Moenie:
- Knaagdiere of hul afval hanteer sonder beskerming nie.
Stoor kos in knaagdierbestande houers.
Moet nooit droë mis vee of stofsuig nie.
- Hoërisiko-aktiwiteite: Wees ekstra versigtig wanneer lang-ongebruikte geboue, skure of kampeerareas skoongemaak word.
- Hoërisiko-tye: Verhoogde waaksaamheid tydens reënseisoene of wanneer knaagdierbevolkings toeneem.
RAPPORTERING VAN VERDAGTE AKTIWITEIT OF INSIDENTE
- Rapporteer vermoede gevalle of kusters onmiddellik aan jou naaste gesondheidsfasiliteit, provinsiale Departement van Gesondheid of NICD (011 386 6000).
- Omgewingsgesondheidsbeamptes hanteer knaagdierbeheer-berigte via plaaslike munisipaliteite.
- Verskaf: blootstellingsgeskiedenis (knaagdierkontak, reis), simptoomtydlyn en liggingsbesonderhede.
- Vroeë rapportering ondersteun toesig en voorkom verdere gevalle.
REGS- EN GEMEENSKAPSHERINNERINGE
- Hantavirus is ’n aanmeldbare toestand in Suid-Afrika. Gesondheidsorgverskaffers moet vermoede of bevestigde gevalle rapporteer.
NOODKONTAKTE
- Nasionale Gesondheidsnoodlyn of naaste hospitaal se noodgevalle-afdeling

ADVISORY: Safety Guidelines for Cyber-Enabled Cargo Theft and Double-Brokering Schemes in South Africa
UNCLASSIFIED // OPEN SOURCE BASED
May 03, 2026
Cyber-enabled cargo theft schemes, including sophisticated double-brokering, phishing, and identity manipulation, are on the rise in South Africa. Criminal groups exploit the fast-paced logistics sector by compromising brokers, carriers, and load boards to divert high-value shipments (such as electronics, pharmaceuticals, and consumer goods). Tactics mirror global patterns reported by the FBI and include spear-phishing, remote-access malware, fake load postings, and physical diversion. Losses in similar operations globally exceed hundreds of millions, with rising incidents in Southern African supply chains.
The primary message from SAPS, the Road Freight Association, Business Against Crime South Africa (BACSA), and logistics security experts is clear: Prevention through cybersecurity hygiene, verification processes, and rapid reporting is essential. Treat all unsolicited logistics communications with suspicion. Prioritise verification over speed. Report the compromise immediately to SAPS and your insurer.
IF YOU RECEIVE SUSPICIOUS LOGISTICS COMMUNICATIONS OR NOTICE SYSTEM ANOMALIES (INCIDENT IN PROGRESS)
Do:
- Do not click links, download attachments, or provide credentials in unsolicited emails (e.g., “review poor ratings,” fake broker agreements, or load confirmations).
- Verify all load bookings, rate changes, or carrier details directly via known phone numbers or official portals — never reply to suspicious emails.
- If a system compromise is suspected (new email rules, unknown access, altered FMCSA-equivalent records, or unauthorised loads under your authority), isolate affected systems, change passwords, and activate incident response.
- Report immediately to SAPS (Cybercrime Unit or local station), your insurer, and relevant authorities (e.g., RTMC or provincial transport).
- Preserve evidence: screenshots, emails, logs — do not delete.
Do NOT:
- Engage with or reply to suspicious requests.
- Allow drivers to proceed with unverified loads or altered documentation.
- Ignore anomalies such as loads booked in your name without your knowledge.
IF YOU WITNESS OR SUSPECT CARGO DIVERSION OR DOUBLE-BROKERING
Do:
- Verify the carrier and documentation independently before the release of goods.
- Cross-check delivery addresses, bills of lading, and insurance details.
- Report discrepancies immediately to SAPS, the shipper/broker, and tracking providers.
- Activate vehicle/cargo tracking alerts and notify response teams.
Do NOT:
- Release cargo based on verbal or unverified digital confirmations.
- Attempt physical intervention without professional security support.
GENERAL PREVENTION AND SAFETY TIPS
- Cyber hygiene: Use multi-factor authentication, avoid free email for business, train staff on phishing (spoofed domains, shortened links, urgent “agreements”). Regularly audit email rules and access logs.
- Load board and carrier verification: Confirm all bids and bookings via phone or official channels. Implement strict vetting for new carriers.
- Physical security: Use GPS tracking, tamper-evident seals, and convoy protocols for high-value loads. Avoid unmonitored cross-docking.
- Supply chain controls: Maintain real-time visibility and independent verification of delivery points.
- High-risk periods: Exercise extra caution during peak seasons, month-ends, or when handling electronics/pharmaceuticals.
- Incident response: Have a pre-approved plan with legal, IT, insurance, and SAPS contacts. Report all compromises promptly.
REPORTING SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY OR INCIDENTS
- Report immediately to SAPS 10111 (or Cybercrime Unit) and Crime Stop 08600 10111.
- Provide: compromised accounts, suspicious emails, load details, and tracking data.
- Notify insurers and industry bodies (e.g., Road Freight Association) for coordinated response.
- Early reporting improves recovery chances and disrupts syndicates.
LEGAL AND COMMUNITY REMINDERS
- Cyber-enabled cargo theft violates multiple laws (e.g., Cybercrimes Act, Theft, Fraud).
- Collaboration between SAPS, logistics associations, insurers, and private security has led to arrests and recoveries.
- Responsible verification and reporting protect the supply chain and economy.
EMERGENCY CONTACTS
- SAPS Emergency: 10111
- Crime Stop: 08600 10111
- SAPS Cybercrime Unit (provincial contacts)
- Your armed response/logistics security provider
- Always provide precise details, logs, and evidence.
Final Word: Cyber-enabled cargo theft blends digital intrusion with physical diversion to steal entire loads with minimal violence. By enforcing strict verification, staying vigilant on cybersecurity, using technology for visibility, and reporting promptly, you can significantly reduce your exposure. Initiatives from SAPS, industry associations, and international partners emphasise that “verification, awareness, layered security, and rapid reporting break these sophisticated schemes and protect South Africa’s supply chains.”
Stay safe, verify everything, secure your systems and loads, and report responsibly — do not engage with suspicious requests.
Sources: Compiled from SAPS cybercrime and logistics security advisories, international threat intelligence (FBI PSA patterns adapted to local context), Road Freight Association guidelines, Business Against Crime South Africa (BACSA) supply chain protection materials, and verified industry reports (2022–2026). ADVIES: Veiligheidsriglyne vir Kubergesteunde Vragdiefstal en Dubbelmakelaarskemas in Suid-Afrika
ONGEKLASSIFISEER // GEBASEER OP OOPBRONNE
03 May 2026
AS JY VERDAGTE LOGISTIEKE KOMMUNIKASIE ONTVANG OF STELSEL-ANOMALIEË OPMERK (INSIDENT IN PROGRESS)
Doen:
- Moenie skakels klik, aanhangsels aflaai of geloofsbriewe verskaf in ongevraagde e-posse (bv. “hersien swak diensgraderings,” vals makelaarsooreenkomste of vragbevestigings) nie.
- Verifieer alle vragbesprekings, tariefveranderings of draerbesonderhede direk via bekende telefoonnommers of amptelike portals — moenie op verdagte e-posse antwoord nie.
- As ’n stelselkompromis vermoed word (nuwe e-posreëls, onbekende toegang, veranderde rekords of ongemagtigde vragte onder jou gesag), isoleer geaffekteerde stelsels, verander wagwoorde en aktiveer insidentreaksie.
- Rapporteer onmiddellik aan SAPS (Kubermisdaad-eenheid of plaaslike stasie), jou versekeraar en relevante owerhede (bv. RTMC of provinsiale vervoer).
- Bewaar bewyse: skermkiekies, e-posse, logs — moenie uitvee nie.
Moenie:
- Betrokke raak by of antwoord op verdagte versoeke nie.
AS JY Vragherleiding OF DUBBELMAKELAARY VERMOED OF AANSKOU
Doen:

ADVISORY: Safety Guidelines for Common Robbery and Hijacking Tactics in South Africa
UNCLASSIFIED // OPEN SOURCE BASED
April 30, 2026
Robbery and hijacking tactics in South Africa continue to evolve. Criminals use deception, opportunism, and violence to target motorists, pedestrians, and homes. Common methods include follow-home attacks, fake accidents or breakdowns, blue-light impersonation, road spiking, animal bait traps, smash-and-grab distractions, and staged collisions. These often occur on highways, off-ramps, suburban streets, near malls, airports, or residential driveways, especially during peak hours, month-ends, and holidays.
The primary message from SAPS, Arrive Alive, the National Hijack Prevention Academy (NHPA), Business Against Crime South Africa (BACSA), and private security experts is clear: Prevention through awareness, defensive driving, and layered security is essential. Never stop for suspicious roadside situations. Prioritise your life and the safety of your passengers over possessions or helping strangers. Stay calm, comply if confronted, and report immediately.
IF YOU ENCOUNTER A SUSPICIOUS TACTIC OR ARE BEING TARGETED (INCIDENT IN PROGRESS)
Do:
- Stay calm and assess the situation quickly.
- Do not stop for roadside “emergencies” (broken-down vehicles, animals in distress, fake accidents, or people waving you down). Continue to the nearest safe, well-lit public area.
- If followed or ambushed, drive to a police station, busy filling station, or populated area. Activate your tracking device/panic button immediately.
- If hijacked or robbed, comply calmly with demands — hand over valuables and the vehicle without resistance.
- Mentally note or safely record: number of suspects, descriptions, weapons, vehicle details, and direction of travel.
- Once safe, report to SAPS with all details and dashcam footage.
Do NOT:
- Stop to assist strangers, inspect damage, or help with animals/accidents on the roadside.
- Exit your vehicle or open windows/doors in suspicious situations.
- Resist physically unless your life is in imminent danger and escape is viable.
- Follow or confront suspects.
IF YOU WITNESS A SUSPECTED ROBBERY, HIJACKING, OR TACTIC IN PROGRESS
Do:
- Create immediate distance and seek safety.
- Call SAPS 10111 or your armed response immediately with exact location, vehicle/suspect descriptions, and direction of travel.
- If safe without stopping, note registrations and key details.
- Activate community alert systems with verified information only.
Do NOT:
- Approach, intervene, or attempt a rescue.
- Follow the suspects’ vehicle.
- Film in a way that endangers yourself.
GENERAL PREVENTION AND SAFETY TIPS
- Situational awareness: Scan ahead constantly. Be suspicious of people waving you down, broken-down vehicles in isolated spots, animals placed as bait, or sudden “accidents.”
- Driving habits: Keep doors locked and windows up. Maintain escape space in traffic. Vary routes and times. Avoid night driving in high-risk areas where possible.
- Common red flags: Fake police (blue lights without marked vehicles), roadside “help needed,” groups near stranded cars, or objects (spikes, debris) on the road.
- Vehicle security: Install high-quality tracking with panic buttons, 360 ° dashcams (where possible), smash-and-grab film, and anti-hijack systems.
- Journey planning: Share live location with trusted contacts. Use reputable ride-hailing or convoy travel in high-risk zones.
- Home arrival: Use the “2 km strategy” — be extra alert in the 2 km radius around home. Circle the block if suspicious.
- High-risk periods/areas: Peak traffic, month-ends, holidays, airports, malls, and known hotspots (Gauteng, KZN, Cape Flats, etc.).
- Digital security: Limit sharing of travel plans or valuables on social media.
REPORTING SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY OR INCIDENTS
- Report immediately via SAPS 10111 or Crime Stop 08600 10111.
- Provide: exact GPS, suspect/vehicle descriptions, tactic observed, and dashcam/tracking data.
- Early reporting helps map emerging tactics and enables rapid response.
LEGAL AND COMMUNITY REMINDERS
- All forms of robbery and hijacking are serious violent crimes.
- Interfering with investigations is illegal.
- Collaboration between SAPS, private security, tracking companies, and communities has disrupted many syndicates.
- Responsible awareness and reporting make South Africa’s roads safer.
EMERGENCY CONTACTS
- SAPS Emergency: 10111
- Crime Stop: 08600 10111
- Your armed response / private security provider
- Always provide precise GPS location, descriptions, and details.
Final Word: Criminals rely on surprise, deception, and your natural instinct to help. By refusing to stop for suspicious situations, maintaining constant vigilance, using technology, and reporting promptly, you deny them opportunities and protect yourself and your family. Initiatives from SAPS, Arrive Alive, NHPA, and BACSA emphasise that “awareness, refusal to stop at bait scenes, defensive driving, and rapid reporting break these tactics and save lives.”
Stay safe, stay alert, never stop for suspicious roadside situations, and report responsibly — do not engage unnecessarily.
Sources: Compiled from SAPS hijacking and robbery advisories, Arrive Alive tactical awareness guidelines, National Hijack Prevention Academy materials, Business Against Crime South Africa (BACSA) reports on emerging tactics (including animal bait), private security intelligence bulletins, and verified incident patterns (2022–2026). Advice is consistent with law enforcement and professional security experts. For the latest updates, consult official SAPS channels or Arrive Alive.

ADVIES: Veiligheidsriglyne vir Algemene Roof- en Motorkaping-taktieke in Suid-Afrika
ONGEKLASSIFISEER // GEBASEER OP OOPBRONNE
30 April 2026
Bly kalm, gehoorsaam as gekonfronteer, en rapporteer onmiddellik.
AS JY ’N VERDAGTE TAKTIEK TEENKOM OF GETEIKEN WORD (INSIDENT IN PROGRESS)
Doen:
- As jy agtervolg of oorval word, ry na ’n polisiekantoor, besige vulstasie of bevolkte area. Aktiveer jou spoortoestel/paniekknoppie onmiddellik.
- Verdagtes volg of konfronteer nie.
AS JY ’N VERMEENDE ROOF, MOTORKAPING OF TAKTIEK IN PROGRESS AANSKOU
Doen:
Moenie:
- Nader, ingryp of ’n redding probeer nie.
- Die verdagtes se voertuig volg nie.
- Riskant verfilm nie.
ALGEMENE VOORKOMINGS- EN VEILIGHEIDSWENKE

ADVISORY: Safety Guidelines for Damaging Waves and High Sea Conditions in South Africa
UNCLASSIFIED // OPEN SOURCE BASED
April 15, 2026
Damaging waves and high seas, often triggered by cold fronts, strong ridging, high-pressure systems, or severe weather, pose a significant risk along South Africa’s coastline, particularly in KwaZulu-Natal (including the eThekwini Municipality area), the Eastern Cape, and the Western Cape. Wave heights of 4–6 metres or more can lead to dangerous swimming conditions, capsizing of small vessels, damage to coastal infrastructure, harbours, and beaches, as well as localised flooding and erosion. These events are regularly highlighted in Level 1–3 warnings issued by the South African Weather Service (SAWS).
The primary message from SAPS, the South African Weather Service (SAWS), the National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC), eThekwini Municipality, Arrive Alive, and coastal safety experts is clear: Heed all SAWS warnings. Avoid unnecessary exposure to the sea and the coastline during high-wave events. Prioritise personal and others’ safety over recreational or fishing activities. Report emergencies immediately and cooperate with rescue services.
IF YOU ARE AT THE COAST OR PLANNING COASTAL ACTIVITIES DURING A DAMAGING WAVES WARNING (INCIDENT IN PROGRESS)
Do:
- Stay calm and immediately move away from the water’s edge, beaches, rocks, and low-lying coastal areas.
- Monitor SAWS updates and local municipal alerts via radio, apps, or official channels.
- If on a boat or small vessel, return to shore as quickly and safely as possible, or delay launching until conditions improve.
- Keep children, elderly family members, and vulnerable persons well away from the sea.
- Activate your family emergency plan, ensure your phone is charged, and have emergency contacts.
- If in distress or witnessing someone in trouble, call for help immediately and provide your exact GPS location.
Do NOT:
- Swim, surf, fish, or engage in any water-based or beach activities during a damaging waves warning.
- Walk on rocks, piers, or promenades that could be swept by large waves or sneaker waves.
- Ignore official warnings or assume “it looks okay” — rogue waves can occur suddenly.
- Allow children or inexperienced individuals near the coastline unsupervised.
These steps align with SAWS, NDMC, and municipal coastal safety guidelines.
IF YOU WITNESS SOMEONE IN DISTRESS DUE TO HIGH WAVES OR COASTAL CONDITIONS (FROM OUTSIDE OR NEARBY)
Do:
- Create immediate distance and seek higher, safe ground — do not enter the water or approach dangerous areas.
- Immediately call SAPS 10111, the National Emergency Number 112, or the relevant coastal/municipal rescue service and report the exact location and situation.
- If safe and without entering the surf zone, note details that can assist rescuers (e.g., number of people in distress, vessel details).
- Activate community or neighbourhood watch alert systems with verified information only.
- Support response efforts only through coordinated official channels (SAPS, NSRI, or municipal emergency services).
Do NOT:
- Attempt a rescue yourself unless you are trained and equipped (e.g., NSRI volunteers).
- Enter the water or climb onto unstable coastal structures to help.
- Film or photograph in a manner that endangers yourself or delays professional response.
GENERAL PREVENTION AND SAFETY TIPS
- Monitor warnings: Always check SAWS weather alerts before heading to the coast. Level 1 Damaging Waves warnings indicate a significant risk and should be taken seriously.
- Beach and coastal safety: Avoid beaches, rock pools, and coastal paths during warnings. Respect beach closure signage and lifeguard instructions.
- Boating and fishing: Small vessels are particularly vulnerable — delay launches and ensure vessels are properly equipped with life jackets, flares, and communication devices.
- Family and community preparedness: Include coastal hazards in your family emergency plan. Teach children about the dangers of waves and the importance of heeding warnings.
- High-risk periods and areas: Exercise extra caution during autumn/winter cold fronts, spring tides, and in known high-wave zones (KZN North Coast, Durban beaches, Wild Coast, etc.).
- Digital awareness: Follow official accounts (@SAWeatherService, @eThekwiniM, local municipalities) for real-time updates. Avoid relying solely on social media for safety information.
REPORTING SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY OR EMERGENCIES
- Report immediately via SAPS 10111, National Emergency Number 112, or your local municipal Disaster Management Centre.
- For coastal emergencies in eThekwini: contact the Disaster Management Centre on 031 361 0000.
- Provide: exact GPS location, nature of the emergency (e.g., person swept by waves, capsized vessel), number of people involved, and any other relevant details.
- Early reporting assists in timely search-and-rescue operations.
LEGAL AND COMMUNITY REMINDERS
- Ignoring official warnings and endangering yourself or others can complicate rescue efforts.
- Collaboration between SAWS, NDMC, SAPS, NSRI, municipalities, and communities has enabled successful rescues during high-wave events.
- Responsible adherence to warnings protects lives and supports effective disaster response.
EMERGENCY CONTACTS
- SAPS Emergency: 10111
- National Emergency Number: 112
- Childline (if children involved): 0800 55 555

ADVIES: Veiligheidsriglyne vir Skadelike Golwe en Hoë See-toestande in Suid-Afrika
ONGEKLASSIFISEER // GEBASEER OP OOPBRONNE
15 April 2026
Doen:
- As jy in nood is of iemand in moeilikheid sien, roep onmiddellik hulp in en verskaf jou presiese GPS-ligging.

ADVISORY: Safety Guidelines for Travel and Operations in Marsabit County (Security-Disturbed Areas), Kenya
UNCLASSIFIED // OPEN SOURCE BASED
April 15, 2026
On 23 April 2026, the Kenyan Government declared 13 localities in Marsabit County (primarily referred to as “Hillo” areas) as security-disturbed and dangerous zones under Section 106(6) of the National Police Service Act. The order, effective for an initial 30 days, authorises intensified security operations and mandates the immediate surrender of illegal firearms. This is in response to persistent banditry, livestock raids, and inter-communal violence in northern Kenya’s volatile pastoralist regions near the borders with Ethiopia and South Sudan.
The affected areas are high-risk for armed attacks, ambushes, and retaliatory violence. Foreign nationals, travellers, businesses, and humanitarian workers operating in or transiting Marsabit County face elevated threats.
The primary message from Kenyan authorities, regional security analysts, and international embassies is clear: Avoid non-essential travel to the 13 declared localities in Marsabit County. If travel is unavoidable, implement strict security measures, maintain low visibility, and coordinate with local authorities and your embassy. Prioritise personal safety and rapid reporting. Monitor the situation closely as the declaration may be extended.
IF YOU MUST TRAVEL OR OPERATE IN MARSABIT COUNTY (HIGH-RISK AREAS)
Do:
- Reassess the necessity of travel. Consider alternative routes or postponement.
- Register your travel with your embassy/consulate and obtain the latest security briefing.
- Travel in a well-equipped convoy with reliable communications and tracking devices. Share your itinerary and real-time location with a trusted contact.
- Use only verified, professional security escorts where available. Avoid night travel and isolated roads.
- Maintain a low profile: Limit the display of valuables, avoid displaying foreign affiliations, and minimise social media posts about your movements.
- Carry valid identification, travel documents, and emergency contacts. Have a personal emergency plan including medical evacuation options.
- If confronted or in an incident: Comply with demands to de-escalate, then report immediately.
Do NOT:
- Travel alone or in unmarked vehicles through the declared localities.
- Ignore local security advice or enter areas under active operations.
- Carry or display firearms unless fully compliant with Kenyan law and properly declared.
- Rely solely on GPS — many roads in the region are poorly maintained or blocked.
GENERAL PREVENTION AND SAFETY TIPS
- Pre-travel preparation: Check official travel advisories from your government, Kenyan authorities, and your embassy. Monitor local news for updates on violence and the status of the 30-day declaration.
- Route and timing: Use major, patrolled roads where possible. Travel during daylight hours and avoid peak risk periods (dusk to dawn).
- Vehicle and personal security: Use vehicles with tracking and run-flat tyres. Carry emergency kits, satellite phones, and medical supplies.
- Community and operational awareness: Engage positively with local leaders where appropriate, but maintain strict operational security. Businesses should review insurance coverage for high-risk areas.
- High-risk indicators: Livestock raids, road ambushes, and retaliatory attacks remain common. Be alert to unusual gatherings or armed groups.
REPORTING SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY OR INCIDENTS
- Report immediately to:
- Kenyan Police Emergency: 999 or 112
- Your embassy/consulate emergency line
- Nearest police post or security forces in the area
- Provide: exact GPS coordinates, descriptions of threats or incidents, and any evidence.
- Early reporting assists rapid response and helps protect others.
LEGAL AND COMMUNITY REMINDERS
- The declaration empowers enhanced policing but does not suspend constitutional rights. Cooperation with legitimate security forces is required.
- Illegal firearms possession and banditry carry severe penalties.
- Foreign nationals should strictly comply with Kenyan immigration and firearms laws.
- Collaboration between Kenyan security agencies, local communities, and international partners aims to restore stability in affected areas.
EMERGENCY CONTACTS
- Kenyan Police: 999 / 112
- Your embassy/consulate emergency line (register your presence)
- Nearest hospital or medical evacuation service
- Always provide precise GPS location and clear details.
Final Word: The designation of 13 localities in Marsabit County as security-disturbed areas highlights the serious and ongoing risks of banditry and inter-communal violence in northern Kenya. Non-essential travel to these zones should be avoided. For those who must operate in the region, rigorous planning, low-profile movement, convoy travel, and close coordination with authorities and embassies are critical. Continuous monitoring of the security situation is strongly advised, as the declaration may be extended.
Stay safe, stay informed, regularly reassess travel plans, and report responsibly.
Sources: Compiled from official Kenyan Government Gazette notices, Capital FM, Kenyans.co.ke, allAfrica.com, and other verified Kenyan media reports (23–27 April 2026), alongside regional security assessments. The advice is consistent with the Kenyan authorities and international consular guidance. ADVISORY: Safety Guidelines for Adulterated / Contaminated Diesel Fuel in South Africa
UNCLASSIFIED // OPEN SOURCE BASED
April 26, 2026
A growing criminal practice involves the large-scale adulteration of diesel with cheaper illuminating paraffin (illuminating fuel) to exploit tax differences. Criminal networks remove chemical markers from diesel, blend it with paraffin, and sell the contaminated product through illicit depots and certain service stations. This has escalated significantly, with over 100 illicit depots detected and at least 70 service stations confirmed selling contaminated fuel. The issue is particularly acute amid record-high diesel prices (projected above R30 per litre with substantial under-recovery).
Using adulterated diesel can cause severe engine damage, including injector failure, fuel pump problems, reduced performance, increased emissions, and costly repairs. It also results in massive tax revenue losses to the state.
The primary message from SAPS, the South African Revenue Service (SARS), Bidvest Protea Coin, and fuel industry experts is clear: Only purchase diesel from reputable major oil company service stations. Prevention through source verification is essential. If you suspect you have purchased contaminated fuel, act quickly to prevent further damage and report the incident.
IF YOU SUSPECT YOU HAVE PURCHASED OR USED ADULTERATED DIESEL
Do:
- Stop using the vehicle immediately if you notice symptoms such as rough idling, loss of power, excessive smoke, unusual fuel smell, or warning lights.
- Have the fuel tank drained and the fuel system professionally inspected as soon as possible to limit engine damage.
- Keep proof of purchase (receipt, pump number, date, time, and location).
- Report the incident promptly to:
- The service station manager
- SARS Fuel Tax Fraud Hotline: 0800 00 2878
- SAPS (for criminal activity)
- Your vehicle’s manufacturer or authorised dealer
- Document everything: photos of the receipt, vehicle symptoms, and any suspicious activity at the station.
Do NOT:
- Continue driving with suspected contaminated fuel — this can cause irreversible and expensive engine damage.
- Attempt to “dilute” or treat the fuel yourself.
- Ignore the issue — early action protects your engine and supports investigations.
GENERAL PREVENTION AND SAFETY TIPS
- Buy from reputable sources only: Always refuel at major, well-known oil company-branded service stations (e.g., Engen, Shell, BP, Total, Sasol). Avoid independent or unknown roadside stations, especially in rural or high-risk areas.
- Check before refuelling: Look for proper branding, clean and well-maintained pumps, and professional staff. Be wary of unusually low prices.
- Monitor your vehicle: After refuelling, watch for immediate changes in performance, unusual smells, or dashboard warnings.

ADVIES: Veiligheidsriglyne vir Vervalsde / Besmette Dieselbrandstof in Suid-Afrika
ONGEKLASSIFISEER // GEBASEER OP OOPBRONNE
26 April 2026
AS JY VERMOED JY HET VERVALSTE DIESEL GEKOOP OF GEBRUIK
Doen:
- SARS Brandstofbelastingbedrog-hotline: 0800 00 2878
- SAPS (vir kriminele aktiwiteit)
- Jou voertuig se vervaardiger of gemagtigde handelaar
- Koop slegs by betroubare bronne: Vul altyd by groot, bekende oliemaatskappy-gebrandmerk diensstasies (bv. Engen, Shell, BP, Total, Sasol). Vermy onafhanklike of onbekende padkant-stasies, veral in plattelandse of hoërisiko-areas.
Oorweeg brandstofbymiddels of moniteringstelsels waar gepas.
- Rapporteer verdagte stasies: As ’n stasie konsekwent verdag lae pryse bied of jy verdagte aktiwiteit opmerk, rapporteer dit anoniem aan SARS en SAPS.
RAPPORTERING VAN VERDAGTE AKTIWITEIT OF INSIDENTE
- Rapporteer onmiddellik via:
- SARS Brandstofbelastingbedrog-hotline: 0800 00 2878
- SAPS Nood: 10111 of jou plaaslike stasie
- Crime Stop: 08600 10111

ADVISORY: Safety Guidelines for Driving in Wet Conditions in South Africa
UNCLASSIFIED // OPEN SOURCE BASED
April 15, 2026
Heavy rainfall, flash floods, and slippery road surfaces are major causes of serious crashes in South Africa, particularly during the summer rainfall season. Wet conditions significantly reduce visibility, tyre grip, and braking efficiency, increasing the risk of hydroplaning, skidding, and loss of vehicle control. Rural roads, low-lying areas, and major highways become especially dangerous.
The primary message from SAPS, Arrive Alive, and the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) is clear: Slow down, increase following distance, and avoid unnecessary risks. Prevention requires vehicle preparation, defensive driving, and heeding weather warnings. Your safety and that of your passengers come first — never drive through floodwater.
IF YOU ARE DRIVING IN HEAVY RAIN OR WET CONDITIONS (INCIDENT IN PROGRESS)
Do:
- Reduce speed significantly — driving at normal speeds in wet conditions can cause loss of control.
- Increase the following distance to at least 4–6 seconds to allow for longer braking distances.
- Switch on headlights (even during daylight) and activate hazard lights only if stopped or moving very slowly.
- Avoid sudden braking, acceleration, or steering movements — steer and brake gently and smoothly.
- If you feel hydroplaning (loss of steering control), ease off the accelerator, do not brake hard, and steer in the direction you want to go.
- If water depth increases, turn around and find an alternative route — never drive through flooded roads.
- Pull over safely in a well-lit, elevated area if conditions become too dangerous.
Do NOT:
- Driving through any standing water, even shallow water (15 cm), can cause loss of control or engine damage.
- Use cruise control in wet conditions.
- Brake suddenly or make sharp turns.
- Ignore road closure signs or warnings from traffic authorities.
GENERAL PREVENTION AND SAFETY TIPS FOR WET CONDITIONS
- Vehicle preparation: Ensure tyres have adequate tread depth (minimum 1.6 mm, preferably more). Check wiper blades, lights, and brakes regularly. Keep windows clean and defoggers working.
- Driving technique: Reduce speed by at least 20–30 km/h in heavy rain. Avoid overtaking. Use lower gears on slippery surfaces.
- Route planning: Check weather forecasts and traffic reports (Arrive Alive, RTMC, or apps) before travelling. Avoid low-lying areas, known flood-prone roads, and rural routes during heavy rain.
- High-risk periods: Exercise extra caution during summer thunderstorms, month-ends, and holidays when traffic volumes are high.
- Night driving: Reduce speed further and increase following distance — wet roads reflect light and dramatically reduce visibility.
- Family preparedness: Teach all drivers in your household wet-weather driving techniques, and include wet-weather and flood scenarios in your family emergency plan.
REPORTING SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY OR INCIDENTS
- Report flooded roads, accidents, or stranded vehicles immediately via SAPS 10111 or Arrive Alive hotline.
- Provide: exact GPS location, nature of hazard (flooded road, accident, etc.), and any other relevant details.
- Early reporting helps authorities close dangerous roads and assists other motorists.
LEGAL AND COMMUNITY REMINDERS
- Driving in a reckless or negligent manner in wet conditions can lead to charges of reckless or negligent driving.
- Interfering with emergency response or ignoring road closure signs is illegal.
- Responsible driving in wet conditions protects lives and supports safer roads for all users.
EMERGENCY CONTACTS
- SAPS Emergency: 10111
- Arrive Alive (road incidents): 083 704 2111 or provincial traffic numbers
- Crime Stop: 08600 10111

ADVIES: Veiligheidsriglyne vir Bestuur in Natte Toestande in Suid-Afrika
ONGEKLASSIFISEER // GEBASEER OP OOPBRONNE
15 April 2026
AS JY IN SWAAR REËN OF NATTE TOESTANDE BESTUUR (INSIDENT IN PROGRESS)
Doen:
- Skielik rem of skerp draaie maak nie.
Vermy verbysteek. Gebruik laer ratte op glibberige oppervlaktes.
- Roetebeplanning: Kontroleer weervoorspellings en verkeersberigte (Arrive Alive, RTMC of apps) voordat jy reis. Vermy laagliggende areas, bekende vloedgevoelige paaie en plattelandse roetes tydens swaar reën.
- Hoërisiko-tye: Wees ekstra versigtig tydens somer donderstorms, maand-einde en vakansies wanneer verkeer swaar is.
- Nagbestuur: Verminder spoed verder en verhoog volgafstand — nat paaie reflekteer ligte en verminder sigbaarheid dramaties.
- Gesinsvoorbereiding: Leer alle bestuurders in jou huishouding natweer-bestuurtegnieke en sluit nat/vloed-scenario’s in julle gesinsnoodplan in.
RAPPORTERING VAN VERDAGTE AKTIWITEIT OF INSIDENTE
- Rapporteer vloedgevloeide paaie, ongelukke of gestrande voertuie onmiddellik via SAPS 10111 of Arrive Alive.
NOODKONTAKTE
- SAPS Nood: 10111
- Arrive Alive (padinsidente): 083 704 2111 of provinsiale verkeersnommers
- Crime Stop: 08600 10111

ADVISORY: Safety Guidelines for Drivers Facing Suspicious Firearm Stops and Extortion by Metro Police on the N1 near Carousel Toll Plaza
UNCLASSIFIED // OPEN SOURCE BASED
April 15, 2026
A disturbing pattern has been reported on the N1 highway just before the Carousel Toll Plaza (near Hammanskraal). Groups claiming to be Metro Police (TMPD) officers are systematically stopping bakkies, particularly hunting vehicles with visible emblems or stickers. They question drivers about firearm possession, demand to inspect licences, and then engage in prolonged arguments regarding whether the firearm is loaded (“one up” – round in the chamber), magazine status, or the presence of ammunition in the vehicle. Stops occur primarily from approximately 19:00 until first light, increasing the risk of overnight detention at Hammanskraal police station. In documented cases, drivers have faced immediate demands for cash payments ranging from R5,000 to R10,000 to avoid arrest.
Demanding on-the-spot cash payments is illegal and constitutes extortion or corruption. Legitimate firearm checks must follow the Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000 (FCA). Any deviation, especially demands for immediate cash, must be reported.
The primary message is clear: Your personal safety and legal rights come first. Remain calm, polite, and firm. Never pay any cash on the spot. Verify all actions through the proper legal process. Record interactions where safe, and report every suspicious stop immediately to SAPS and IPID.
IF YOU ARE STOPPED AND QUESTIONED ABOUT YOUR FIREARM (INCIDENT IN PROGRESS)
Do:
- Stop safely, keep your hands visible, and remain inside your locked vehicle with windows up until you feel safe.
- Be polite and cooperative, but firm. Ask for the officers’ names, ranks, service numbers, and appointment certificates.
- When asked about your firearm: “Officer, I have a valid firearm licence. Here is my licence card.” (Hand it over.) “I am carrying the firearm in accordance with Section 84 of the Firearms Control Act.”
- If they ask to inspect the firearm: “I will produce the firearm safely for inspection as required by Section 107. It is carried in a holster attached to my person (or suitable holder), completely covered, and under my effective control, as per Section 84.”
- If they allege any transgression (e.g., “You cannot have one up”, “Magazine must be empty”, or “Ammunition not allowed”): Calmly reply: “Officer, I respectfully submit that my carriage complies with the Firearms Control Act. Section 84 governs carrying a firearm in a public place and requires only that it be in a proper holster (or suitable holder), completely covered, and under effective control. There is no prohibition in Section 84 — or anywhere in the Act — on carrying a round in the chamber, requiring an empty magazine, or applying different rules based on licence type. If you allege an offence, please specify the exact section of the Firearms Control Act or Regulations I have allegedly contravened. I request that you issue an official notice or SAPS 55 so I may address it through proper legal process.”
- If immediate cash payment is demanded: “Officer, I cannot make any on-the-spot payment. That would be illegal. If an offence is alleged, please follow due process and issue the proper documentation.”
- Activate your dashcam or phone recording (audio and video) as soon as the stop begins, if safe. Calmly state: “I am recording this interaction for my protection and to ensure proper procedure is followed.”
- Call SAPS 10111 during the stop to report the incident and request verification or backup. Provide your exact location.
- If arrested: Do not resist physically. Request to contact a lawyer or family member promptly and ensure your firearm is properly receipted and secured.
Do NOT:
- Pay any cash, “fine,” or “settlement” on the spot — this is extortion.
- Argue aggressively or resist physically — this can escalate the situation and weaken your position.
- Hand over your firearm or consent to searches without a clear legal justification.
- Allow yourself to be isolated or transported without verification.
- Delete any recordings or evidence.
Key Legal Reference (Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000):
- Section 84 – Carrying of a firearm in a public place requires the firearm to be in a proper holster (or suitable holder), completely covered, and under effective control. It does not prohibit a round in the chamber (“one up”), require an empty magazine, or differentiate rules by licence type.
- Section 107 – You must produce your licence and the firearm for inspection when lawfully requested by a police official.
GENERAL PREVENTION AND SAFETY TIPS
- Before travel: Ensure your firearm licence is valid and you understand your specific conditions. Carry physical and digital copies of your licence. For long-distance travel, consider transporting the firearm unloaded and secured in a case with ammunition stored separately to minimise disputes.
- Vehicle preparation: Install a reliable dashcam (forward- and rear-facing) and vehicle tracking with a panic button. Travel with a witness when feasible.
- During the journey: Avoid predictable patterns. Be extra cautious on the N1 near Carousel Toll Plaza from 19:00 until dawn. Consider alternative routes or daylight travel if your schedule allows.
- Documentation: Keep a short, factual summary note of Section 84 for quick reference during stops (not a substitute for knowing the law).
REPORTING SUSPICIOUS STOPS AND MISCONDUCT
- Report every suspicious stop immediately:
- SAPS Emergency: 10111 (call during or immediately after the stop)
- Crime Stop: 08600 10111
- Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID): 012 399 0000 or report@ipid.gov.za (for complaints against Metro Police or SAPS members)
- SAPS Anti-Corruption Unit: 082 820 6467
- Provide: exact time and GPS location, officer names/ranks/service numbers (if given), vehicle details, exact words and demands made, and any recordings.
- Also notify the Central Firearms Registry and firearm rights organisations (e.g., GOSA or NARFO) for support.
- Early, detailed reporting with recordings helps expose patterns of misconduct and protects other drivers.
LEGAL AND COMMUNITY REMINDERS
- Demanding cash on the spot is extortion/corruption and a serious criminal offence.
- Legitimate firearm checks must follow the Firearms Control Act. Abuse of power or improper procedure can be challenged.
- You have the right to record interactions for your protection and to ensure due process.
- Calm, factual reference to the actual wording of Section 84 is one of your strongest defences against unfounded allegations.
EMERGENCY CONTACTS
- SAPS Emergency: 10111
- Crime Stop: 08600 10111
- IPID: 012 399 0000 or report@ipid.gov.za
- Your legal advisor or firearm rights organisation
- Always provide precise location, officer/vehicle details, and evidence.
Final Word: These suspicious firearm stops on the N1 near Carousel Toll Plaza appear designed to exploit licensed firearm owners through intimidation and illegal cash demands. By remaining calm, knowing your rights under Section 84 of the Firearms Control Act, recording interactions, refusing on-the-spot payments, and reporting promptly to SAPS and IPID, you protect yourself and help stop these practices. Law-abiding citizens with valid licences have clear rights — exercise them firmly, politely, and safely.
Stay safe, stay legal, document everything, and report responsibly.
Sources: Compiled from the Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000 (especially Sections 84 and 107), SAPS public safety advisories, reported community incidents on the N1 Carousel area, National Credit Regulator and anti-corruption guidelines, and verified legal interpretations (2022–2026). This advisory summarises the law as of April 2026 and is provided for informational purposes only. It is not personalised legal advice. ADVIES: Veiligheidsriglyne vir Bestuurders wat met Verdagte Vuurwapenstoppe en Afpersing deur Metro Police op die N1 naby Carousel Tol Plaza te Kampe Het
ONGEKLASSIFISEER // GEBASEER OP OOPBRONNE
15 April 2026
AS JY GESTOP WORD EN UITGEVRA WORD OOR JOU VUURWAPEN (INSIDENT IN PROGRESS)
Doen:
- Wanneer uitgevra word oor jou vuurwapen: “Officer, I have a valid firearm licence. Here is my licence card.” (Gee dit oor.) “I am carrying the firearm in accordance with Section 84 of the Firearms Control Act.”
- As hulle vra om die vuurwapen te inspekteer: “I will produce the firearm safely for inspection as required by Section 107. It is carried in a holster attached to my person (or suitable holder), completely covered, and under my effective control, as per Section 84.”
- As hulle enige oortreding beweer (bv. “Jy mag nie one up hê nie”, “Magasyn moet leeg wees”): Antwoord kalm: “Officer, I respectfully submit that my carriage complies with the Firearms Control Act.
- As onmiddellike kontantbetaling geëis word: “Officer, I cannot make any on-the-spot payment. That would be illegal. If an offence is alleged, please follow due process and issue the proper documentation.”
- Aktiveer jou dashcam of foonopname (audio en video) sodra die stop begin, indien veilig. Sê kalm: “I am recording this interaction to ensure proper procedure is followed.”
Verskaf jou presiese ligging.
- Opnames of bewyse uitvee nie.
- Rapporteer elke verdagte stop onmiddellik:
- SAPS Nood: 10111 (bel tydens of onmiddellik ná die stop)
- Crime Stop: 08600 10111

ADVISORY: Safety Guidelines for Drivers Facing Suspicious Vehicle Repossession Claims and Impersonation Tactics in South Africa
UNCLASSIFIED // OPEN SOURCE BASED
April 15, 2026
Suspicious vehicle repossession claims and impersonation tactics involve criminals or unscrupulous operators falsely claiming to be repossession agents, sheriffs, or law enforcement to seize vehicles through intimidation, fake court orders, or threats. These incidents often occur on public roads, at homes, or in parking areas, and may combine with hijacking, robbery, or extortion. Perpetrators exploit fear of legal consequences to coerce compliance. Legitimate repossessions must follow strict legal processes under the National Credit Act and court orders — any deviation is illegal.
The primary message from SAPS, the National Credit Regulator (NCR), Business Against Crime South Africa (BACSA), and legal experts is clear: Your personal safety comes first. Never surrender your vehicle to unverified individuals. Prevention through verification, documentation, and calm refusal is essential. Do not engage physically or negotiate on the roadside. Report all suspicious claims to SAPS immediately and verify them through official channels.
IF YOU ARE CONFRONTED WITH A SUSPICIOUS REPOSSESSION CLAIM (INCIDENT IN PROGRESS)
Do:
- Stay calm and remain inside your locked vehicle with windows up.
- Politely but firmly refuse to hand over the vehicle or keys. State that you will only comply with a valid court order presented by an officially authorised sheriff or law enforcement officer, and that you need time to verify.
- Ask for identification: Request official ID, court documents, and contact details of the claimant. Take clear photographs or videos of the individuals, their vehicles, documents, and any markings (from inside your car if safe).
- Immediately call SAPS 10111 to report the incident and request verification. Provide your exact location and details of the claim.
- Note key details: descriptions of individuals (age, build, clothing, accents, tattoos), vehicle registrations, company names claimed, and any threats made.
- Once safe, contact your financing institution or legal advisor to verify the claim through official channels. Do not sign anything or agree to anything under duress.
- Follow SAPS instructions precisely and cooperate with any legitimate investigation.
Do NOT:
- Hand over your vehicle, keys, or documents to unverified individuals, even if they claim to have a court order.
- Exit your vehicle or engage in physical confrontation.
- Argue aggressively or make sudden movements that could escalate the situation.
- Ignore the incident — even if the claim turns out to be legitimate, improper repossession tactics are illegal and must be reported.
These steps align with SAPS guidelines on impersonation and extortion, the National Credit Act, and consumer protection advice from the National Credit Regulator.
IF YOU WITNESS A SUSPICIOUS REPOSSESSION ATTEMPT (FROM OUTSIDE OR NEARBY)
Do:
- Maintain a safe distance and do not intervene physically.
- Immediately report to SAPS 10111 with precise location, descriptions of individuals/vehicles, claimed company or court details, and nature of the activity.
- If safe and without loitering, note registrations and key identifiers.
- Activate community or neighbourhood watch alert systems with factual information only.
- Support response efforts only through official channels (SAPS or authorised security).
Do NOT:
- Approach the individuals or attempt to mediate.
- Follow suspicious vehicles.
- Film in a manner that endangers yourself or alerts the perpetrators.
GENERAL PREVENTION AND SAFETY TIPS
- Know your rights: Legitimate repossessions require a court order and must be carried out by a properly authorised sheriff. Any roadside “repossession” without proper process is likely illegal.
- Documentation readiness: Keep your vehicle financing/ownership documents, court orders (if any), and contact details of your financier readily accessible (digitally and physically).
- Vehicle security: Install quality tracking devices with panic buttons and remote immobilisation. Use dashcams (forward- and rear-facing).
- Situational awareness: Be extra cautious if approached by unmarked vehicles or individuals claiming authority. Verify any “official” stop by calling SAPS 10111.
- High-risk periods and areas: Exercise heightened caution in known hotspots for vehicle-related crime or during financial stress periods when repossession threats may increase.
- Community and professional support: Join neighbourhood watch or business forums for alerts. Have legal counsel or your financier’s contact on speed dial. Report patterns of impersonation to the National Credit Regulator.
- Digital security: Be wary of phishing attempts or fake repossession notices sent via email or SMS.
REPORTING SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY OR INCIDENTS
- Report immediately via SAPS 10111, Crime Stop 08600 10111, or your nearest police station.
- Provide: exact GPS location, descriptions of claimants/vehicles, claimed court or company details, any documents shown, and evidence (photos/videos).
- For organised impersonation syndicates, request involvement of the Hawks (DPCI) or provincial organised crime units.
- Also notify your financier and the National Credit Regulator if the claim appears fraudulent.
- Early reporting protects you, disrupts illegal tactics, and supports investigations.
LEGAL AND COMMUNITY REMINDERS
- Impersonating law enforcement or court officials to seize property is a serious criminal offence (fraud, extortion, impersonation).
- Legitimate repossessions must follow due process under the National Credit Act — any deviation can be challenged legally.
- Interfering with a legitimate process or contaminating evidence is illegal, but resisting illegal impersonation tactics is protected when done lawfully.
- Collaboration between SAPS, the National Credit Regulator, financiers, and communities helps curb these scams and protects consumers.
EMERGENCY CONTACTS
- SAPS Emergency: 10111
- Crime Stop: 08600 10111
- National Credit Regulator (for credit-related complaints)
- Your vehicle financier / legal advisor
- Your armed response / private security provider
- Always provide precise location, descriptions, and evidence details.
Final Word: Suspicious vehicle repossession claims and impersonation tactics prey on fear and confusion, but calm verification, refusal to comply without proper process, and immediate reporting to SAPS protect both your safety and your rights. By staying vigilant, documenting incidents, knowing your legal protections, and cooperating only with verified authorities, you significantly reduce risks and help disrupt these illegal practices. Initiatives from SAPS, the National Credit Regulator, and BACSA emphasise that “awareness, verification, lawful refusal, and prompt reporting protect drivers and deter impersonation and fraudulent repossession tactics.”
Stay safe, stay calm, verify before you comply, and report responsibly — never surrender your vehicle to unverified claimants.

15 April 2026
Doen:
AS JY ’N VERDAGTE TERUGNEEMPoging AANSKOU (VAN BUITE OF NABY)
Doen:
- Ondersteun reaksiepogings slegs deur amptelike kanale (SAPS of gemagtigde sekuriteit).
Moenie:
- Rapporteer onmiddellik via SAPS 10111, Crime Stop 08600 10111, of jou naaste polisiekantoor.
NOODKONTAKTE
- SAPS Nood: 10111
- Crime Stop: 08600 10111
- Nasionale Kredietreguleerder (vir kredietverwante klagtes)
- Jou voertuigfinansier / regsadviseur
- Jou gewapende reaksie / private sekuriteitsverskaffer
