Authorities have announced that seven civilians, including three security forces in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, were killed during an attack on Thursday, 13 January 2022. Suspected Mai-Mai militiamen had set alight a health facility during the attack and killed two Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) in Butembo. The Army’s Spokesperson in the Beni region, Anthony Mualushayi, has stated that a Police officer and four militiamen had died during the clashes.
