The Taiwan Central Epidemic Command Centre (CECC) has announced that it will remove several African countries from the high-risk list due to the Omicron variant on 12 January 2022. The CECC will be reviewing and assessing the countries, as well as imposing quarantine measures applicable to arrivals from areas under Level 3 lockdown travel measures. The CECC has stated that travellers will be allowed to quarantine at a Government quarantine facility for 14 days at their own expense if they purchased a ticket before flight before the implementation of this policy. The listed countries include South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, eSwatini, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Egypt, and Nigeria.
