The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a contribution of $85 million to support humanitarian operations in Ethiopia. In coordination with the Famine Relief Fund, the contribution is expected to be disbursed to several agencies in Ethiopia, including the World Food Programme (WFP), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). UAE Minister of State Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan has stated that the UAE remains committed to the importance of stability in the Horn of Africa region. Minister Al Nahyan has stated that the contribution aims to ensure that humanitarian agencies are equipped to support vulnerable communities in need of immediate assistance.
