• EAST LONDON – 10 JUN 2022 (09H10) The African National Congress (ANC) in the Dr WB Rubusana Region has given the ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) ten days to reverse the outcomes of the Eastern Cape conference. The ANC members in the Dr WB Rubusana Region claim that processes leading up to the conference were marred by irregularities and disregarded adopted guidelines. The ANC members in the Dr WB Rubusana Region stated that the conference should be nullified.

• WELKOM – 09 JUN 2022 (19H30) Protest reported in Phomolong village outside Welkom. Community members are protesting due to the lack of electricity supply. Demonstrators are barricading the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Police are monitoring the protest.
• BLOEMFONTEIN – 10 JUN 2022 (06H00) The former Premier of the Free State, Ace Magashule, is expected to appear in the Bloemfontein High Court for the pre-trial hearing today, 10 June 2022. Magashule and ten others, as well as five companies, face more than 70 fraud, corruption, and money laundering charges in the asbestos roofing case. Supporters of Magashule are expected to protest outside the court during the hearing. Motorists are advised to be vigilant. Police will be dispatched to the scene.

• SOWETO – 09 JUN 2022 (19H00) UPDATE Legwale Street is closed with stones and debris. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. • KEMPTON PARK – 09 JUN 2022 (19H45) Comair announced today, 09 June 2022, that the company will be liquidated. Comair has been under voluntary business rescue for over two years as practitioners worked to safeguard the company and the interests of stakeholders. The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) is expected to meet with members to discuss Comair’s liquidation. NUMSA Solidarity Sector Coordinator for Defence and Aerospace Derek Mans stated that they are negotiating with the airline. Comair agreed to pay all employees’ pensions and medical aid for this month. Practitioners have made an application for liquidation, and the matter will be heard on an urgent basis on Tuesday, 14 June 2022.
• SOWETO – 09 JUN 2022 (21H00) Protest reported on the R553 Golden Highway and Stockvel Avenue intersection outside Lenasia in Soweto, Gauteng. Protestors are demonstrating due to poor service delivery and are burning tyres and debris to block off the roads. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
• ROODEPOORT – 09 JUN 2022 (21H30) Protest reported in Zandspruit in the vicinity of Honeydew. Protestors are blocking off public roads with rocks and burning tires. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes and avoid the area.
• VLAKFONTEIN – 10 JUN 2022 (06H35) Protest reported on the Golden highway from Lenasia South to Zakariyya Park. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.

SOUTH AFRICA – KWAZULU-NATAL – 10 JUN 2022
• DURBAN – 09 JUN 2022 (19H20) Protest reported at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) Edgewood Campus on Mariannhill Road near the Pinehill Avenue intersection in Pinetown. Students are protesting due to unpaid National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) allowances. Demonstrators are barricading the road and throwing stones at officers. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes and avoid the area. Fidelity security officers and Police officers are monitoring the protest.
• DURBAN – 09 JUN 2022 (22H30) Unrest reported at Hammarsdale Junction Mall in Hammarsdale, Durban today, 09 June 2022. This follows after community members attempted to loot stores in Hammarsdale Junction Mall. However, members of the public, including taxi owners alongside Security and Police Officers, have intervened. Authorities are at the scene, and the situation has been resolved. Motorists are advised to remain vigilant when travelling in the area.
• DURBAN – 10 JUN 2022 (02H30) Unrest reported in the Central Business District (CBD) in Durban. Community members are reportedly looting various stores in the area. Police are discharging teargas and stun grenades in attempts to disperse groups. This follows after a national shutdown was announced for 10 June 2022 due to increased fuel prices. • PROSPECTON – 10 JUN 2022 (05H45) UPDATE Police have dispersed the demonstrations. The road has been reopened for traffic. Motorists are advised to be vigilant. Police are monitoring the area. SOUTH AFRICA – LIMPOPO – 10 JUN 2022
• POLOKWANE – 09 JUN 2022 (20H40) Anglo American Platinum has announced that it has received a memorandum from the Sekhukhune Combined Mining Affected Communities (SCMAC). This follows after youth sectors from various mining communities, including Mogalakwena and Sekhukhune, marched to the Anglo American offices in Polokwane on Wednesday, 8 June 2022, to submit a memorandum of demands that included the reopening of the Twickenham Platinum Mine outside Burgersfort, compliance of social labour plans, support and involvement of youth-owned enterprises and creation of jobs for the unemployed youths in the host communities. Anglo American Platinum has stated that it will engage with the relevant stakeholders after studying the memorandum.

SOUTH AFRICA – MPUMALANGA – 10 JUN 2022
• MBOMBELA/ NELSPRUIT – 09 JUN 2022 (22H00) Eskom has announced that its Mampumalanga Operating unit is scheduled to implement load reduction from 05H00-07H00 and again from 17H00-19H00 in the eHlanzeni and Nkangala districts on Friday, 10 June 2022. Eskom has stated that the planned load reduction prevents network overloading in the affected areas, which otherwise could damage electricity infrastructure. Eskom urges customers to treat all installations as live during power interruptions.
• CAROLINA – 10 JUN 2022 (05H20) Protest reported in Carolina. All entrances have been blocked with trucks and burning tyres. The affected areas include Wonderfontein/Carolina road, Breyton Road, Badplaas Road, and Machadodorp/Carolina road. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. • RUSTENBURG – 09 JUN 2022 (20H00) Protest expected at Sibanye K6 Shaft from Monday, 13 June 2022, until Friday, 17 June 2022 from 04H00. Demonstrators from Greater Boitekong will be protesting for employment, socio-economics and business opportunities. Motorists are advised to avoid the area for the duration of the protest. • KIMBERLEY – 10 JUN 2022 (08H40) The Member of the Executive (MEC) for the Department of Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Rural Development and Land Reform, Mase Manopole, is expected to host a farmers lekgotla today, 10 June 2022, at Boontjieskraal from 09H00. The lekgotla is expected to inform the department of the needs to be done to transform the sector with issues that include lack of funding, access to land and water and climate change. The Participants will be drawn from the land reform and food security beneficiaries, youth, women and farmers with disabilities, representatives of different commodities in each district and communal farmers.
