SOUTH AFRICA – EASTERN CAPE – 14 JUN 2022
• GQEBERHA/ PORT ELIZABETH – 13 JUN 2022 (20H45) The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality stated that the dam levels are currently above 12%. This follows after claims that its dam levels have reached 0%. The Municipality management stated that it had put measures in place to address the region’s water crisis. Operational challenges are among the main causes of its water crisis. The Municipality has set up water collection points for residents in affected areas.
• MTHATHA – 14 JUN 2022 (09H10) President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to deliver a keynote address at the Youth Day Commemoration on Thursday, 16 June 2022, at the Mthatha Stadium from 10H00. The Youth Day Commemoration will be celebrated under the theme of Promoting sustainable livelihood and resilience of young people for a better tomorrow. Ramaphosa is also expected to deliver an update on the Presidential initiatives aimed at stimulating youth employment.

• ROADSIDE – 14 JUN 2022 (08H25) UPDATE Motorists are advised to avoid the R26 from Reitz to Villiers due to ongoing protests. Stone-throwing reported. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. (06H30) Road closure on the N3 due to truckers. Previous demonstrations have been related to the All Truck Drivers Forum and Allied South Africa – ATDF ASA members protesting over the employment of foreign nationals. Police are on the scene. (05H40) Protest reported on the N3 in the vicinity of Roadside between Warden and Villiers. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.

SOUTH AFRICA – GAUTENG – 14 JUN 2022
• TSHWANE/ PRETORIA – 13 JUN 2022 (19H15) South African Post Office branches failed to process the June 2022 social grant payments. The Post Office branches were unable to process payments due to issues with connectivity and biometric authentication, money shortages and security issues. Post Office branches that experienced challenges include Standerton in Mpumalanga, Kariega in the Eastern Cape, and Pietermaritzburg, Howick and Amanzimtoti in KwaZulu-Natal. The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) Spokesperson Paseka Letsatsi stated that approximately 500,000 people have been accessing their grants from a Post Office branch.
• TSHWANE/ PRETORIA – 13 JUN 2022 (20H00) Protest reported on the N4 at the Acridian Street intersection in Kalafong heading towards Lotus Gardens. Community members are protesting due to poor service delivery. The demonstrators are barricading the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes and avoid the area. Police are on the scene.
• TSHWANE/ PRETORIA – 13 JUN 2022 (21H30) Protest expected at the Tshwane Automotive Special Zone at Samcor Park in Mamelodi from 09H00 on Tuesday, 14 June 2022. Community members under the aegis of Mamelodi Stakeholders are expected to gather at Solomon Mahlangu Square in Mamelodi from 09H00 before marching to the Tshwane Automotive Special Zone. The protest aims to raise concerns regarding the increasing rate of unemployment and a lack of community development. Streets that are expected to be affected by the march include J Ledwaba Street, Maphalla Street, Waltloo Road, Simon Vermooten Road, and Alwyn Street. Demonstrators are expected to disperse from Tshwane Automotive Special Zone at 14H00. Tshwane Metro Police have stated that officers will be deployed to monitor the march and all affected streets. Motorists are advised to avoid the area during the demonstration and use alternative routes.
• BENONI – 13 JUN 2022 (21H50) UPDATE Police have confirmed that one officer has succumbed to injuries following the shooting incident on the N12. The other officer has been airlifted to the hospital. Motorists are advised that the N12 approaching Daveyton currently remains closed to traffic. (20H50) Road closure reported on the N12 in the Etwatwa area. The road is closed due to a crime scene. Two officers have been shot and injured. A helicopter is expected to airlift the officers to a hospital. Emergency services are on the scene. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes and avoid the area.
• BOKSBURG – 13 JUN 2022 (23H10) Vehicle fire reported on the R554 between Trichardts Road and Barry Marais Road in Boksburg. Motorists are advised that a truck is currently on fire on the roadway. The reason for the fire remains undetermined at this time. The incident is causing ground travel disruptions. However, the road currently remains open to traffic. Motorists are advised to exercise caution when travelling in the area.

• TSHWANE/ PRETORIA – 14 JUN 2022 (08H40) Road closure reported on Kgosi Mampuru Street due to a heavy motor vehicle accident. N14 southbound has been affected due to the accident. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use Roger Dayson Road and other alternative routes. Emergency services are on the scene.
• MABOPANE – 14 JUN 2022 (09H00) UPDATE Demonstrations reported on Molefe Makinta Highway and 11th Road in Winterveld. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. (07H20) Protest reported in Winterveldt and Mabopane areas. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. The demonstrators are protesting due to poor service delivery. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.

SOUTH AFRICA – KWAZULU-NATAL – 14 JUN 2022
• DURBAN – 13 JUN 2022 (22H30) Motorists are advised to exercise caution when travelling on the N2 Northbound between the Umgeni Interchange and the M21 turnoff in the vicinity of Newlands West, Durban. This follows reports that rocks have intentionally been positioned on the roadway by unknown suspects earlier this evening, 13 June 2022. Motorists are advised to remain alert for possible protest action and subsequent travel disruptions in the area. Authorities are aware of the situation.
• WESTVILLE – 14 JUN 2022 (07H50) Protest reported in the vicinity of the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) Westville Campus. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.

• MOOKGOPHONG/ NABOOMSPRUIT – 13 JUN 2022 (19H30) Police have issued a warning of stone-throwing on the N1 near Naboomspruit off-ramp by the bridge. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Police are monitoring the situation.
• MOTETEMA – 14 JUN 2022 (06H10) Protest expected by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) members today, 14 June 2022, at the Hlogotlou Police Station from 10H00. The demonstrators are expected to protest to demand the arrest of suspects linked to the case of Gift Malope. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police will be deployed to monitor the area.

SOUTH AFRICA – MPUMALANGA – 14 JUN 2022
• TJAKASTARD – 13 JUN 2022 (19H45) The Mpumalanga Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) Department is accused of failing to address a chieftaincy dispute, among the Malaza royal family, in Tjakastard near eManzana, Mpumalanga. This came after some family members expressed concerns about the appointment of 26-year-old Nhlanhla Malaza as successor. Malaza is the grandson of the late Chief Khokhayi Malaza. The Malaza Royal family handed over a memorandum of grievances directed to the CoGTA Member of Executive Council (MEC), Mandla Ndlovu. Some members of the family have already announced Nhlanhla Malaza as the new Chief of Mandlamakhulu Tribal Authority. However, others stated that Khokhayi’s son, Mlamuli Malaza, should ascend to the throne.

SOUTH AFRICA – NORTH WEST – 14 JUN 2022
• KHUMA – 13 JUN 2022 (22H10) Eskom has announced that load reduction is expected to be implemented in several areas of the North West province between 05H00 and 09H00 on Tuesday, 14 June 2022. The load reduction is expected to prevent the overloading of the power network and damage to infrastructure in high-density areas. Areas that are expected to be affected include Klerksdorp, Khuma, Mmabatho, Vryburg and Rustenburg. Eskom has noted that relevant updates will be issued to the public as the situation progresses.

SOUTH AFRICA – NORTHERN CAPE – 14 JUN 2022
• BETHULIE – 13 JUN 2022 (22H00) Eskom has announced that load reduction is expected to be implemented in the Northern Cape’s Xhariep District between 06H00 and 09H00 on Tuesday, 14 June 2022. This aims to prevent overloading of the Eskom network and possible damage to infrastructure in high-density areas. The load reduction is expected to affect residents from Zwallum and the Lephoi informal settlement. Eskom has noted that relevant updates will be issued to the public as the situation progresses.
• KURUMAN – 14 JUN 2022 (05H55) The Ga- Segonyana Local Municipality announced a scheduled electricity interruption on Tuesday, 14 June 2022, from 08H00 until 17H00. The time will be used to upgrade the Maffat Substation. Areas that will be affected include Kuruman Town, Kuruman Central Business District, Industrial, Wrenchville, Promiseland, Mogaswa, Thuli Madonsela and Obama.

• SEDGEFIELD – 13 JUN 2022 (20H30) Bush fire reported in the Rondevlei area in the Knysna Local Municipal area. Knysna Municipality Firefighters are currently on the scene. The firefighters requested assistance from Garden Route District Municipality (GRDM) firefighters, who are now en route to the incident. The public is advised to be vigilant.
