SOUTH AFRICA – EASTERN CAPE – 28 JUN 2022
• GQEBERHA/PORT ELIZABETH – 28 JUN 2022 (00H25) UPDATE The Municipality has announced additional areas set to be affected during the outage. The areas include Korsten, Holland Park, Steytler Township, Macleanville, Adcockvale, Sydenham, Neave Industrial, and Part of New Brighton. Furthermore, the areas are to be disrupted due to the integration of groundwater supply into the Fairview Reservoir and will allow the installation of necessary outlet valves and metres. (22H40) The Municipality has announced expected service disruptions in the area of Gqeberha on Tuesday, 28 June 2022. This follows after Eskom announced a six-hour power outage due to maintenance works on their infrastructure. Furthermore, the disruption is set to affect the operations of the Nooitgedagt Water Treatment Works. The affected areas include Rowallan Park, Francis Evatt Park, Hunters Retreat Bay West, Parsonsvlei / Westbrook, Morningside, Kabega Park Sherwood, Westering, Cotswold, Helenvale, Malabar, Parts of Schauderville, Framesby, Sunridge Park, Parts of Lorraine, Parts of Theescombe, Kamma Park, and Bethelsdorp. • PORT SHEPSTONE – 28 JUN 2022 (06H20) Protest reported on the N2 in the vicinity of Bhobhoyi towards Paddock. The demonstrators are protesting due to poor service delivery related to water and electricity. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.

SOUTH AFRICA – FREE STATE – 28 JUN 2022
• BLOEMFONTEIN – 28 JUN 2022 (07H20) The Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality has announced that Bloemwater is expected to undertake emergency repair work on a bulk water pipe leak which may result in water supply interruptions. The repair work on the Lourierpark 600mm OD line is expected to begin today, 28 June 2022, from 23H59 for a period of 24 hours. The following areas will be affected, Pellissier, Lourierpark, Fauna, Wilgehof, Part of Universitas, Gardenia Park, Dewet park, Bainsvlei, Langenhoven Park and Spitskop N1 near Heuwelsig area.

SOUTH AFRICA – GAUTENG – 28 JUN 2022
• BENONI – 27 JUN 2022 (22H05) The South African Police Services (SAPS) has announced the discovery of Refiloe Malope in a Benoni mine shaft. This follows after the kidnapping of Malope that occurred on 09 May 2022. The body has been recovered using specialised equipment by members of the Lesotho and Gauteng SAPS. During the search, the SAPS discovered an additional body. SAPS will launch search operations to identify the body and the cause of death. Sergeant Thabo Letudi Moses Mokoana and Modirela Maxwell Mokoana, charged with kidnapping, murder and defeating the ends of justice in the Malope case, will appear before the Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 30 June 2022, for their formal bail application hearing.
• JOHANNESBURG – 27 JUN 2022 (23H15) Power outage reported in the Hillbrow area. The affected areas include Koch street, Banket Street, Claim street, Quatz street and Twist street. The disruption has followed due to the theft and vandalisation of power cables in the area. City Power Johannesburg has deployed technicians to repair and replace the cables. Furthermore, the South African Police Services are expected to launch search operations to apprehend the suspects. Further updates will be provided as received.
• TSHWANE/ PRETORIA – 28 JUN 2022 (05H40) Protest reported on Hornsnek Road intersecting with the R514/ Van der Hoff Road. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. The demonstrators are protesting due to poor service delivery. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched
• BOKSBURG – 28 JUN 2022 (06H00) Protest reported on Wit Deep Road in the vicinity of Jerusalem informal settlement. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. The demonstrators are protesting due to poor service delivery. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.

SOUTH AFRICA – KWAZULU-NATAL – 28 JUN 2022
• EMAQELENI – 27 JUN 2022 (20H50) Protest reported on the R66 at Emaqeleni outside Eshowe. The demonstrators are barricading the roads with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched to the scene.
• PHOENIX – 28 JUN 2022 (02H30) KwaZulu-Natal business entities have acquired private security companies to operate along the N2 and N3 highways. This follows after truckers protested against the employment of foreign national drivers on the N3 between Johannesburg and Durban. Reports indicate that the truckers caused the loss of approximately R300 million due to looting activities and delays caused in transporting goods. Security companies have been hired to prevent the looting of trucks along the roads. Additionally, the companies are set to avoid the disruption of transporting goods along the highways. Anti-riot teams have been deployed to the Mariannhill and Mooi River tolls on the N3, as well as on the N2 between Phoenix.
• BUHEMDLE – 28 JUN 2022 (09H05) Protest reported on the R66 between Eshowe and KwaGingindlovu in the vicinity of Wombane Mountain Peak. The demonstrators are protesting due to poor service delivery. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with rocks and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.

SOUTH AFRICA – LIMPOPO – 28 JUN 2022
• MUSINA – 28 JUN 2022 (08H00) Premier Stanley Mathabatha and the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Fikile Majola, are expected to conduct an oversight visit today, 28 June 2022, from 10H00 to the North Site of the Musina Makhado Special Economic Zone (MMSEZ) at the Antonvilla Farm.

SOUTH AFRICA – MPUMALANGA – 28 JUN 2022
• BELFAST – 27 JUN 2022 (23H05) The Belfast Magistrate Court has postponed the hearing of Carlos Bernardo Guambe and Gabriele Bernardo Guambe to 27 July 2022. The case has been postponed for further investigations and for the suspects to obtain legal representation. The suspects are expected in court after the South African Police Services’ Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), Hawks, arrested the suspects over human trafficking allegations. The arrests followed a search operation conducted on Friday, 24 June 2022, at a farm in the Belfast area. During the operation, the Hawks rescued 39 kidnapped civilians. Reports indicate that the suspects brought the civilians into South Africa using a taxi travelling from Mozambique to Lydenburg. Furthermore, the son of the farmer allegedly met and paid the taxi driver for the civilians.
• MALELANE – 28 JUN 2022 (06H10) Protest reported on the N4 in the vicinity of the Boulders Safari Lodge. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. The reason for the protests is unknown at this stage. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police are on the scene.
• WITBANK/EMALAHLENI – 28 JUN 2022 (08H40) Protest reported on the R547/ Bailey Avenue in Clewer. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. The demonstrators are protesting due to power outages. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.

• RUSTENBURG – 27 JUN 2022 (20H45) Protest reported on the corner of Tuin Road and Ridder Street in the Rustenburg Oos-Einde area. The demonstrators are barricading the roads with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched to the scene.

SOUTH AFRICA – NORTHERN CAPE – 28 JUN 2022
• CARNARVON – 28 JUN 2022 (00H55) Northern Cape Premier Zamani Saul will deliver the Premiers Office 2022/23 Budget speech today, 28 June 2022. Premier Saul will deliver the speech at Carnarvon Primary school at 10H00. During the speech, Saul is set to announce various projects set up by the Government and the allocation of Government funds. The Budget speech will be broadcasted live across community radio stations.

SOUTH AFRICA – WESTERN CAPE – 28 JUN 2022
• TULBAGH – 28 JUN 2022 (00H15) The Western Cape Police has announced a R100,000 reward for information on the mass shooting that occurred in Tulbagh on Saturday, 25 June 2022. This follows after nine civilians gathered at a house on Jooste street. Four civilians had been killed and another injured after the unknown gunmen fired sporadically at the members. The injured civilian has been transferred to a Hospital.
