SOUTH AFRICA – EASTERN CAPE – 28 JUN 2022
• GQEBERHA/PORT ELIZABETH – 28 JUN 2022 (00H25) UPDATE The Municipality has announced additional areas set to be affected during the outage. The areas include Korsten, Holland Park, Steytler Township, Macleanville, Adcockvale, Sydenham, Neave Industrial, and Part of New Brighton. Furthermore, the areas are to be disrupted due to the integration of groundwater supply into the Fairview Reservoir and will allow the installation of necessary outlet valves and metres. (22H40) The Municipality has announced expected service disruptions in the area of Gqeberha on Tuesday, 28 June 2022. This follows after Eskom announced a six-hour power outage due to maintenance works on their infrastructure. Furthermore, the disruption is set to affect the operations of the Nooitgedagt Water Treatment Works. The affected areas include Rowallan Park, Francis Evatt Park, Hunters Retreat Bay West, Parsonsvlei / Westbrook, Morningside, Kabega Park Sherwood, Westering, Cotswold, Helenvale, Malabar, Parts of Schauderville, Framesby, Sunridge Park, Parts of Lorraine, Parts of Theescombe, Kamma Park, and Bethelsdorp. • PORT SHEPSTONE – 28 JUN 2022 (06H20) Protest reported on the N2 in the vicinity of Bhobhoyi towards Paddock. The demonstrators are protesting due to poor service delivery related to water and electricity. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. • EAST LONDON – 28 JUN 2022 (16H50) Community members are gathering next to the Scenery Park Business Hub, in East London. The community are meeting to discuss the challenges facing the area. Part of the challenges includes underage drinking following the death of 21 youth members at Enyobeni Tavern.

• BLOEMFONTEIN – 28 JUN 2022 (07H20) The Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality has announced that Bloemwater is expected to undertake emergency repair work on a bulk water pipe leak which may result in water supply interruptions. The repair work on the Lourierpark 600mm OD line is expected to begin today, 28 June 2022, from 23H59 for a period of 24 hours. The following areas will be affected, Pellissier, Lourierpark, Fauna, Wilgehof, Part of Universitas, Gardenia Park, Dewet park, Bainsvlei, Langenhoven Park and Spitskop N1 near Heuwelsig area.

• BOKSBURG – 28 JUN 2022 (06H00) Protest reported on Wit Deep Road in the vicinity of Jerusalem informal settlement. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. • RANDFONTEIN – 28 JUN 2022 (10H45) Protest reported on Desert Street in the vicinity of Nola Manufacturer. The demonstrators are protesting to demand salary increases. • CENTURION – 28 JUN 2022 (13H00) Protest expected on Wednesday, 29 June, from 08H00 at the Automobile Association of South Africa (AASA). The demonstrators are expected to gather on the corner of John Vorster Drive and Lenchen Avenue and march to the AASA offices. The demonstrators are expected to protest to demand sustainable and fair work distribution and allow all small, medium and large towing companies onto the AASA and Hollard panels. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police will be deployed to monitor the area.
• JOHANNESBURG – 28 JUN 2022 (16H50) The Church Unity Commission is expected to commemorate the eSwatini massacre at Constitution Hill on 02 July 2022 from 10H00. A large gathering of community members is expected at the event. Motorists are advised to be vigilant during the protest. Police will be dispatched.
• TSHWANE/ PRETORIA – 28 JUN 2022 (17H05) UPDATE Police are attempting to disperse the demonstrators with rubber bullets. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. (16H40) Road closure reported on the R514/ Van der Hoff Road at the Hornsnek Road intersection. Demonstrators are calling on Mayor Randall Williams to respond to their grievances. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Police are on the scene. (14H50) The Police have arrested ten demonstrators for public violence following the service delivery protest. (13H50) The Police restored calm at the demonstration. A heightened Police presence is reported. Motorists are advised to avoid Hornsnek Road intersecting with the R514/ Van der Hoff Road. (10H35) Demonstrators have set two buildings alight in Hercules. The situation is volatile. Motorists are advised to avoid the Van der Hoff Road. Police are on the scene. • SANDTON – 28 JUN 2022 (18H00) Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan announced that an agreement had been reached with unions to end the industrial strike at Eskom. This follows after the Eskom management and unions held a meeting today, 28 June 2022. The parties reached an agreement on a wage settlement that both parties will commit themselves to in due course. This follows after Eskom announced the implementation of Stage 6 loadshedding from 16H00 until 22H00 today, 28 June 2022.

SOUTH AFRICA – KWAZULU-NATAL – 28 JUN 2022
• PHOENIX – 28 JUN 2022 (02H30) KwaZulu-Natal business entities have acquired private security companies to operate along the N2 and N3 highways. This follows after truckers protested against the employment of foreign national drivers on the N3 between Johannesburg and Durban. Reports indicate that the truckers caused the loss of approximately R300 million due to looting activities and delays caused in transporting goods. Security companies have been hired to prevent the looting of trucks along the roads. Additionally, the companies are set to avoid the disruption of transporting goods along the highways. Anti-riot teams have been deployed to the Mariannhill and Mooi River tolls on the N3, as well as on the N2 between Phoenix.
• BUHEMDLE – 28 JUN 2022 (09H05) Protest reported on the R66 between Eshowe and KwaGingindlovu in the vicinity of Wombane Mountain Peak. The demonstrators are protesting due to poor service delivery. SOUTH AFRICA – LIMPOPO – 28 JUN 2022
• MUSINA – 28 JUN 2022 (08H00) Premier Stanley Mathabatha and the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Fikile Majola, are expected to conduct an oversight visit today, 28 June 2022, from 10H00 to the North Site of the Musina Makhado Special Economic Zone (MMSEZ) at the Antonvilla Farm.
• GIYANI – 28 JUN 2022 (14H20) Community members have suspended their protest on the R81 in Giyani. Residents of Giyani Section B1, Section A, F and E, and surrounding villages were protesting against load reduction and the Eskom offices not being accessible. The Greater Giyani Local Municipality, Eskom and community representatives held a meeting on Monday, 27 June 2022. Eskom indicated that it had to implement load reduction due to the high rate of illegal connections in those areas. Municipal Spokesperson Steven Mabunda stated that in addition to re-opening its local office, Eskom will also be embarking on a mass audit campaign to disconnect illegal connections.

• RIETFONTEIN – 28 JUN 2022 (11H10) The Minister of Water and Sanitation, Senzo Mchunu, and the Deputy Minister, David Mahlobo, are expected to engage stakeholders on the Loskop Pipeline Project today, 28 June 2022, at the Forever Resort Loskop Conference Centre from 11H30. The Loskop Pipeline Project is a cross-border project that will benefit communities in both Mpumalanga and Limpopo provinces. The Ministry working visit will include engagements with both the Provincial Governments and the affected local and district municipalities. The Ministry will also have stakeholder engagements in Moutse in Elias Motswaledi Local Municipality and Verena in the Thembisile Hani Local Municipality.

SOUTH AFRICA – NORTHERN CAPE – 28 JUN 2022
• CARNARVON – 28 JUN 2022 (00H55) Northern Cape Premier Zamani Saul will deliver the Premiers Office 2022/23 Budget speech today, 28 June 2022. Premier Saul will deliver the speech at Carnarvon Primary school at 10H00. During the speech, Saul is set to announce various projects set up by the Government and the allocation of Government funds. The Budget speech will be broadcasted live across community radio stations.
• KIMBERLEY – 28 JUN 2022 (15H20) Speaker Newrene Klaaste delivered the 2022/23 budget speech for the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature (NCPL). Klaaste announced that the new closed-circuit television (CCTV) equipment and biometric access control systems will be installed at the NCPL. The legislature has managed to secure funds to implement the first phase of the electronic security systems upgrades at this national key points strategic installation. Critical security infrastructure, including the fire detection and prevention system, would be upgraded in phase two. The total budget allocation is R210.7 million.

SOUTH AFRICA – WESTERN CAPE – 28 JUN 2022
• TULBAGH – 28 JUN 2022 (00H15) The Western Cape Police has announced an R100,000 reward for information on the mass shooting that occurred in Tulbagh on Saturday, 25 June 2022. This follows after nine civilians gathered at a house on Jooste street. Four civilians had been killed and another injured after the unknown gunmen fired sporadically at the members. The injured civilian has been transferred to a Hospital.
• CAPE TOWN – 28 JUN 2022 (15H40) The City of Cape Town announced the implementation of Stage 4 loadshedding instead of Stage 6 loadshedding in the Metropolitan area. Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis stated that technicians have been saving up reserves at Steenbras Hydroelectric Power Station over the last few days. Stage 2 loadshedding will then be implemented overnight.
• CAPE TOWN – 28 JUN 2022 (17H50) The Ministry of Health announced that the second case of monkeypox has been reported. The patient is a 32-year-old male from Cape Town with no travel history. The Ministry stated that there is a high possibility of local transmission.
