SOUTH AFRICA – EASTERN CAPE – 30 JUN 2022
• MOUNT FLETCHER – 30 JUN 2022 (06H05) The Deputy Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Makhotso Sotyu, is expected to hand over forestry plantations to the Batlokoa Traditional Council and the Makhoba Traditional Council in Mount Fletcher today, 30 June 2022, from 09H00. The handover is part of the commitment made by Deputy Minister Sotyu during the Budget Speech presentation in Parliament that the Department would be transferring plantations to communities in the province and Limpopo. The transfer will be done through Community Forestry Agreements to communities in line with the National Forests Act. The handover will also include developing a Post-settlement Support Plan that will guide these communities and offer support once the plantations are transferred.

SOUTH AFRICA – FREE STATE – 30 JUN 2022
• BLOEMFONTEIN – 29 JUN 2022 (20H10) The African National Congress (ANC) interim leadership in the Free State is seeking to postpone the province’s elective conference to September 2022. This is due to infighting that has stymied the convening of branch and regional meetings and the election of leaders. The factional battles are between loyalists of suspended ANC Secretary-General Ace Magashule and the Interim Political Committee (IPC), led by Free State co-operative governance Member of Executive Council (MEC) Mxolisi Dukwana and IPC co-ordinator Paseka Nompondo.
• BLOEMFONTEIN – 30 JUN 2022 (09H50) Protest reported on President Brand Street in the vicinity of the Central University of Technology. Students are protesting due to unpaid allowances. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.

SOUTH AFRICA – GAUTENG – 30 JUN 2022
• TSHWANE/ PRETORIA – 29 JUN 2022 (19H00) UPDATE Road closure reported at the Van Der Hoff Road intersections with R55/ Bremer Street, Mahem Road, and Commercial Street. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. (17H20) Protest reported on R514/ Van Der Hoff Road and M17/ Hornsnek Road in the Hercules area. The demonstrators are barricading the roads. Community members are protesting due to land and housing-related matters. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes and avoid the area. Police and security services are on the scene and monitoring the situation. The situation is volatile.
• GERMISTON – 29 JUN 2022 (19H20) Looting reported on Knights Road at SA Metal Group. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes and avoid the area. Police have been dispatched to the scene.
• SANDTON – 29 JUN 2022 (22H30) Labour groups are expected to resume negotiations with Eskom on Friday 01 July 2022. This follows after Eskom offered a 5,3% wage increase to its employees. Furthermore, the offer had been increased to 7% due to the illegal protest action of the employees regarding salary disputes. The offer will be provided for one year. The labour groups have been instructed to provide their members with the revised offer ahead of the negotiation meetings.
• JOHANNESBURG – 29 JUN 2022 (23H15) Action South Africa (SA) President Herman Mashaba has requested that the Head of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Shamila Batohi provide the measures Batohi will take in prosecuting members named in the State Capture Report (SCR). Mashaba has provided the Head of NPA with seven days to respond to his request. Furthermore, Mashaba will obtain a private prosecution certificate if the NPA delays the prosecution of the members named in the SCR. Additionally, Mashaba will apply for a nolle prosequi certificate from the State. Relevant authorities are expected to arrest additional members named in the SCR in July 2022 to restore the rule of law.
• WESTONARIA – 30 JUN 2022 (03H20) Protest expected by the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) Today, 30 June 2022. The members are expected to gather from 15H30 at Old Vereeniging Road. Furthermore, the members will march to the South Deep mines. The members will be marching to hand over their Memorandum of Demands. The members are demanding organisational rights at the mines. This follows as NUMSA represents approximately 800 of the 2,200 employees. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes during the demonstrations.
• MIDRAND – 30 JUN 2022 (04H10) Member of Parliament (MP) Fortune Charumbira has been elected as the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) President. This follows the PAP elections held on Wednesday, 29 June 2022. Charumbira had been elected after receiving 161 votes. President Charumbira will chair elections to appoint a PAP Vice President to complete the bureau.
• TSHWANE/ PRETORIA – 30 JUN 2022 (06H00) Protest expected by members affiliated with the National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union (NEHAWU) today, 30 June 2022. The members are expected to protest at the High Commission of the Kingdom of eSwatini from 10H0 and proceed to protest at the Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe from 12H00. NEHAWU members are expected to protest in solidarity with Swaziland and Zimbabwe nationals. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police will be deployed to monitor the area.
• CENTURION – 30 JUN 2022 (06H30) The Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula, is expected to meet with the Board of the South African National Roads Agency SOS Limited (SANRAL) today, 30 June 2022, from 10H00 at the SANRAL Central Operations Centre. SANRAL is expected to provide an update on progress made on re-advertising SANRAL tenders amounting to R17.473 billion.
• RANDBURG – 30 JUN 2022 (08H10) The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Commander in Chief (CIC), Julius Malema, is expected to appear at the Randburg Magistrates Court on Friday, 01 July 2022. The court is expected to hear the matter of the policeman who denied the President entry into the final resting place of struggle stalwart, our mother, Mama Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, in 2018.
• TSHWANE/ PRETORIA – 30 JUN 2022 (08H30) UPDATE President Cyril Ramaphosa has departed for Gaborone in Botswana for a working visit where he is attending the 7th Southern African Customs Union Summit of Heads of State & Government. (06H40) President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to undertake a working visit to the Republic of Botswana to attend the 7th Southern African Customs Union (SACU) Summit of Heads of State and Government in Gaborone. The Summit is expected to take place today, 30 June 2022, at the Gaborone International Convention. The Summit is expected to be attended by Heads of State and Government and representatives of the SACU Member States. The 7th Summit is expected to consider the progress made on the implementation of the refocused Work Programme, whose priorities include industrialisation through the development of regional value chains, investment attraction and export promotion, Regional Financing Mechanism, Trade Facilitation and Logistics and Implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

SOUTH AFRICA – KWAZULU-NATAL – 30 JUN 2022
• DURBAN – 30 JUN 2022 (08H50) The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) has partnered with a community development organisation, Rhiza Babuyile, to provide funds of R2 million in relief aid for displaced families who were affected by the April and May 2022 floods in the province. The IDC stated that 2,500 people are expected to benefit from relief efforts over the next four months, with efforts focused on Umlazi, Inanda, Durban and surrounding areas. The support will include providing food, medical care and blankets. Rhiza Babuyile will oversee the distribution of rescue packs, including food and blankets, and deploy nurses and community healthcare workers to provide primary medical care to affected communities.

• VUWANI – 30 JUN 2022 (07H30) Deputy President David Mabuza, in his capacity as the Chairperson of the South Africa (SA) National Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) Council (SANAC), is expected to lead the official launch of the National Youth Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Prevention Strategy and Campaign today 30 June from 09H00 at the Mudavula Stadium under Collins Chabane Municipality in Vhembe District.

SOUTH AFRICA – MPUMALANGA – 30 JUN 2022
• EMALAHLENI/WITBANK – 30 JUN 2022 (00H25) A suspect is expected to appear before the Emalahleni Magistrates Court Today, 30 June 2022. This follows after the CSC Tactical Security Company, with the assistance of the South African Police Services (SAPS), arrested the suspect for being in possession of explosives. The CSC Tactical Security Company guards observed the suspect and his accomplices, via a Central Circuit Television (CCTV), in balaclavas at the Marelden Estate on Wednesday, 29 June 2022. Reports indicate that the Police arrested the suspect following armed clashes. Furthermore, the suspects’ accomplices escaped Police custody. The Police are expected to launch search operations to apprehend the suspects.

SOUTH AFRICA – NORTH WEST – 30 JUN 2022
• RUSTENBURG – 30 JUN 2022 (07H45) The Rustenburg Regional Court has postponed the fraud case against the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Member of the Provincial Legislature, Betty Diale, to Thursday, 04 August 2022, for pre-trial conferencing. Diale is facing six charges of theft, amounting to R700 000.00 allegedly stolen from the Road Accident Fund(RAF) claimants.

SOUTH AFRICA – NORTHERN CAPE – 30 JUN 2022
• KIMBERLEY – 29 JUN 2022 (19H50) Sol Plaatje Municipality is working to replace the mini sub-station that exploded on Aviva Road on Wednesday morning, 29 June 2022. Three municipal employees have been injured while working to repair a circuit breaker. The sub-station and its cables were damaged.

SOUTH AFRICA – WESTERN CAPE – 30 JUN 2022
• CAPE TOWN – 29 JUN 2022 (19H05) Protest reported on Valhalla Drive in Elsies Rivier. The demonstrators are barricading the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to remain vigilant. Western Cape Rapid Response Unit is monitoring the protest.
• CAPE TOWN – 29 JUN 2022 (21H05) Protest reported on Govan Mbeki Road and Sumphyony way. The members are expected to be protesting due to poor service delivery. Furthermore, the members are barricading the roads with burning tyres. The Western Cape Police have been deployed to the scene. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
