• GQEBERHA/ PORT ELIZABETH – 01 JUL 2022 (08H20) Fire reported on Newton Street in Newton Park. Reports indicate that a mechanical workshop has caught fire. The reason for the fire is unknown at this stage. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Emergency services have been dispatched.

• BLOEMFONTEIN – 01 JUL 2022 (07H45) Protest reported outside the Central University of Technology (CUT). Students are protesting to demand that exams be written online and that their allowances be paid. The demonstrators have blockaded the entrance of the campus. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. A heightened police visibility has been reported in the area.
• WELKOM – 01 JUL 2022 (09H45) Protest reported on Mothusi Road in the vicinity outside the Central University of Technology (CUT). Students are protesting to demand that exams be written online. The demonstrators have blockaded the entrance of the campus. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police are on the scene.

• LENASIA – 30 JUN 2022 (19H15) Protest reported on Bangalore Street, the M10/ Klipspruit Valley Road, Komati Crescent and Volta Street in the Thembelihle area. Community members are protesting due to power outages. The demonstrators are barricading the roads with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Police are on the scene.
• TSHWANE/ PRETORIA – 30 JUN 2022 (20H40) UPDATE The Station Commander at the Hercules Police Station addressed the community members. The Mayor, Police Commander and District Commander are expected to hold a meeting on Friday, 01 July 2022, regarding the protest in the Hercules area. After the meeting, the Mayor is expected to provide a solution to the challenges faced by the community. The Gomora informal settlement community have been demanding that the Municipality formalise the area to receive services such as electricity. (20H00) Community members are expected to march to the Hercules Police Station on Gustav Adolf Street tonight, 30 June 2022. The community members are demanding security against the Gomora informal settlement protest on Van Der Hoff Road. The demonstrators are damaging infrustructure and private property. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. The situation is volatile. (15H50) Road closure reported on Theo Slabbert Avenue, Market Street at Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa and SaveMor on Van Der Hoff Avenue. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. (14H20) Protest reported on Van Der Hoff Avenue at Impala Truck City in the Hercules area. The demonstrators are barricading the road with burning tyres. Community members are protesting due to service delivery-related matters. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes and avoid the area. Police and security services are monitoring the situation.
• GERMISTON – 30 JUN 2022 (22H00) Protest reported on the N3 road to Durban. Reports indicate that the protestors are barricading the road with burning tyres and debris. Furthermore, the members are throwing stones at passing vehicles. The members are expected to protest due to the area’s poor service delivery. The South African Police Services are expected to deploy officers to the scene. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
• SANDTON – 01 JUL 2022 (06H00) Protest expected at members affiliated with various Political parties today, 01 July 2022, at Eskom Megawatt Park in the Sunninghill area from 12H00. The demonstrators are expected to gather at Woodmead Retail Park and march to Eskom offices. The demonstrators are expected to protest to demand the resignation of Eskom Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Andre De Ruyter. Motorists are advised to avoid the area during the protest. Public Order Police will be dispatched to monitor the march.
• RANDBURG – 01 JUL 2022 (06H05) The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Commander in Chief (CIC), Julius Malema, is expected to appear at the Randburg Magistrates Court today, 01 July 2022. The court is expected to hear the matter of the policeman who denied the President entry into the final resting place of Mama Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, in 2018. Possible protests are expected during the court proceedings. Motorists are advised to be vigilant. Police will be deployed to monitor the area.
• TSHWANE / PRETORIA – 01 JUL 2022 (09H15) The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) and the National Mineworkers Union (NUM) are expected to meet with Eskom at the Central Bargaining Forum today, 01 July 2022, to discuss a wage proposal tabled by the power utility. This follows after ongoing protests by employees to demand a 12% salary increase.
• SANDTON – 01 JUL 2022 (09H30) The Eskom Group Chief Executive, Andre de Ruyter, is expected to hold a media brief today, 01 July 2022, from 11H00 until 12H00. Eskom’s management team is also expected to provide an update on the challenges of the current system.

• DURBAN – 01 JUL 2022 (02H10) Inkosi Shinga has been sworn in as the Chairperson for the House of Traditional and Khoi-San leaders. This follows after the Municipal Elections held in Durban. Additionally, Inkosi Nqayizivele Wiseman Sithole has been elected as the Deputy Chairperson of the House of Traditional Leaders. The positions have been acknowledged by the Kwazulu-Natal Democratic Alliance (DA) Spokesperson on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) Martin Meyer.

• POLOKWANE/PIETERSBURG – 01 JUL 2022 (04H45) Premier Chupu Staley Mathabatha has confirmed the additional adjustments of Members of the Executive Council (MEC). MEC Phophi Ramathuba has been appointed to the Department of Health. MEC Seaparo Sekwati has been elected to the position of the Department of Provincial Treasury. MEC Nandi Ndalane has been transferred to the Department of Agriculture. MEC Thabo Mokone will be appointed to the Department of Economic Development. MEC Basikopo Makamu will be transferred to the Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism. Additionally, MEC Thandi Morake is set to be transferred to the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture.

SOUTH AFRICA – NORTH WEST – 01 JUL 2022
• WOLMARANSSTAD – 01 JUL 2022 (08H50) The Portfolio Committee on Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development and the Portfolio Committee on Employment and Labour is expected to embark on a three-day oversight visit to farms in the province from today, 01 July 2022, until Sunday, 03 July 2022. The Portfolio Committee is expected to visit the Bona Bona Game Farm, Haartebeespoortfontein Farm and the JF Cronje, Herbenia Farm. This joint oversight follows the National Assembly’s resolution, adopted on 10 November 2020, for the two committees to assess the impact of legislation and explore opportunities for legislative review. The resolution instructs the committees to focus on the following, comprehensive oversight of executive action in the implementation of legislation aimed at improving the living and working conditions of farm workers, farm dwellers and farmers, Government’s commitments toward improved living and working conditions in the farming communities, including work done by stakeholders in the agricultural sector and impact assessment of legislation affecting farm workers and make recommendations for legislative amendments.

SOUTH AFRICA – NORTHERN CAPE – 01 JUL 2022
• HOTAZEL – 30 JUN 2022 (19H45) UPDATE Kalagadi mine workers and community members are stopping trucks coming out of the Kudumane mine to force drivers to offload material and block the Kudumane / Kalagadi entrance road. The demonstrators have closed the Tsineng turn-off, Kudumane/ Kalagadi mines road, the bridge, and seven turn off. Kalagadi and Kudumane mine employees cannot access the two mines. The day shits workers still remain inside the two mines. There is an indication that the protesters intend to continue into the night with their action until BaMmu Development Association leaders are released. (15H20) Protest reported on the R31 outside Hotazel at Fouries Fuel. The demonstrators are barricading the road with two trucks. A bus has been set alight. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes and avoid the area.
• KIMBERLEY – 01 JUL 2022 (09H40) The Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Health, Maruping Lekwene, and the Managing Executive of the Central Region for Vodacom, Evah Mthimunye, are expected to handover cold chain equipment to the Provincial Department of Health today, 01 July 2022, from 10H00 at the Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe Hospital. This follows after the donation of R74 million by Vodacom Group and Vodafone Foundation to procure cold chain equipment to ensure that vaccines are delivered to several countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

• CAPE TOWN – 30 JUN 2022 (23H00) Shooting reported on Jalist Street, Bloekombos. The South African Police Services has been notified and are expected to deploy officers to the area. The public is advised to avoid the area.
• CAPE TOWN – 01 JUL 2022 (01H05) Fire reported on Gqoloma street. Reports indicate that local shacks have been set alight in the area. The cause of the fire has not been identified. Emergency services have been deployed to the scene. Fire and Rescue services are expected to launch search operations to identify the cause of the fire.
• GEORGE – 01 JUL 2022 (08H55) Protest reported on Nelson Mandela Boulevard by members of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). The demonstrators have blockaded the road. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.
