• MTHATHA – 08 JUL 2022 (08H30) The Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) is expected to visit King Sabatha Dalindyebo (KSD) Local Municipality today, 08 July 2022, to conduct an oversight visit to an initiation school. This follows eight initiates that died during the initiation season on 17 June 202. The committee is expected to be provided with additional information on the cause of the deaths.

• BLOEMFONTEIN – 08 JUL 2022 (08H00) The Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Police, Road and Transport, William Bulwane, is expected to conduct an oversight visit at the Odendaalsrus Police Station today, 08 July 2022, from 11H00. The visit follows after the Department of Labour closed the Odendaalsrus police station due to negligence.

• TSHWANE/ PRETORIA – 07 JUL 2022 (20H10) The City of Tshwane Municipality paid R876 million today, 07 July 2022, of its debt owed to Eskom, which was due and payable by 17 June 2022. The payment comes after Eskom rejected the City’s offer to enter into payment settlement arrangements. The matter escalated to the Tshwane Executive Mayor, Randall Willians, requesting his intervention in the City’s erratic payments.
• BOKSBURG – 08 JUL 2022 (07H00) Protest reported on Wit Deep Road. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. Previous demonstrations have been related to poor service delivery. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.

SOUTH AFRICA – KWAZULU-NATAL – 08 JUL 2022
• DURBAN – 08 JUL 2022 (01H30) The African National Congress (ANC) Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) announced that their general meeting is expected to be held on 10 July 2022 at the Olive Convention Centre. The ANC stated that they are expected to elect delegates and nominate leadership for the province during the meeting.
• DURBAN – 08 JUL 2022 (01H40) The African National Congress (ANC) announced their ninth KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) conference is expected to be held on 20 July 2022 at the Olive Convention Centre. The ANC stated that during the conference, the party will elect the Chairman for the ANC in the KZN province. This meeting follows after several branches in the province conducted general meetings to select their delegates for the conference and endorse their preferred top five leaders and additional members.
• MAWOZINI – 08 JUL 2022 (07H10) Protest reported on the R33 in the vicinity of Bhambatha Secondary School. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. • LADYSMITH – 08 JUL 2022 (09H10) Protest reported on Helpmekaar Road in the vicinity of Dunlop. The demonstrators are protesting due to poor service delivery and the failure of the Mayor to address the community. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. SOUTH AFRICA – LIMPOPO – 08 JUL 2022
• MASERUMO – 07 JUL 2022 (20H25) The Nebo Magistrate Court has postponed the murder case of Refiloe Malope to 28 July 2022. The two accused are facing charges of defeating the ends of justice, kidnapping, and murder of Malope. The accused will remain in custody. This follows after Malope was kidnapped at Kgaphamadi village outside Groblersdal on 09 May 2022. Malope’s body was discovered in a mine shaft in Benoni, by a team of police units from Limpopo and Gauteng.

• EMALAHLENI/ WITBANK – 07 JUL 2022 (19H00) Protest reported on the N4 near Kwa-Guqa Mall. The demonstrators are barricading the road. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Police are on the scene.

• MBOMBELA/ NELSPRUIT – 07 JUL 2022 (20H30) UPDATE The demonstrators have set a truck alight on the N4 between Matsulu and Kaapmuiden. The situation is volatile. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Police are on the scene. (19H00) Protest reported on the N4 at the Krokodilpoort Nature Reserve between Nsikazi and Matsulu. • EMALAHLENI – 07 JUL 2022 (22H30) Protest reported on the N4 at the Mathews Phosa and Kroomdraai intersection. The demonstrators are barricading the road with burning tyres and are throwing stones at vehicles. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched to the scene.
• MBOMBELA/ NELSPRUIT – 08 JUL 2022 (06H00) Premier Refilwe Mtshweni Tsipane is expected to lead a delegation of the Members of the Executive Council (MECs) and economic experts in discussion with a delegation of the United States of America’s (USA) investors today, 08 July 2022, from 16H00. The discussion is expected to be held to promote investment opportunities in the province. Premier Tsipane is expected to outline the opportunities for trade by foreign investors in the following sectors, agro-processing, renewable energy, mining, forestry, infrastructure and tourism. The initiative is geared towards a commitment of the Provincial Government to increase foreign direct investment to boost the economy.
• NGODWANA – 08 JUL 2022 (06H20) Motorists travelling on the N4 in the vicinity of SAPPI Ngodwana are advised to be cautious due to a heavy motor vehicle that has barricaded the road. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Police are monitoring the situation.
• BARBERTON – 08 JUL 2022 (09H00) Protest reported outside the Umjindi Municipality offices. Employees are protesting due to labour-related disputes. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with rocks and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.

• POTCHEFSTROOM – 07 JUL 2022 (23H20) UPDATE Reports indicate that the Police have disbursed the demonstrators. Motorists are advised that traffic is moving as per usual. (21H55) Authorities announced that the protest action has commenced again. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes for the duration of the protest. (20H50) Police are attempting to disperse the demonstrators on the N12 near Sarafina Street with rubber bullets. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes and avoid the area. (19H00) Stone-throwing reported on the N12 in Ikageng. The N12 remain open to traffic. This follows after residents held a service delivery protest earlier today, 07 July 2022. Motorists are advised to be vigilant. Police are on the scene.
• WOLMARANSSTAD – 08 JUL 2022 (07H40) Protest reported on the N12 towards the R34 turnoff to Bloemhof. Residents from Extension (EXT) 10 are protesting due to service delivery related to water outages. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. • RUSTENBURG – 08 JUL 2022 (09H45) Minister of Transport Fikile Mbalula is expected to undertake an Imbizo follow-up and oversight visit on the developments of the Rustenburg Integrated Public Transport Network Corridor (IPTN) today, 08 July 2022, from 10H00 at the Rustenburg Civic Centre. The National Department of Transport intercepted the IPTN corridor development in 2011, and the objective of the IPTN project is to improve access to public transport in Rustenburg. However, the project has been stalled due to allegations of corruption.

• RICHMOND – 08 JUL 2022 (08H40) The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) is expected to meet with the community of Richmond and surrounding areas in the province on Tuesday, 12 July 2022, as part of engagements with the public on the published Unconventional Gas Regulations. The DWS has met with internal and external stakeholders on the published Unconventional Gas Regulations, which were developed in line with Section 38 of the National Water Act of 1998. The regulations prescribe requirements and procedures when using water for unconventional gas activities.

• CAPE TOWN – 07 JUL 2022 (22H40) Road closure reported on the R310 Baden Powel Drive between Strandfontein Pavillion towards Mitchell’s Plain. Reports indicate that rocks have been placed on the highway. Emergency services have been dispatched. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes during the clean-up process.
• HERMANUS – 08 JUL 2022 (08H30) UPDATE Demonstrators are expected to gather at the Zwelihle sports fields from 10H00 and march to the Mayoral offices. The following roads will be affected by the march, Main Road, the R43 and routes in the industrial area. The demonstrators are expected to disperse from 16H00. (06H05) Protest expected at the Overstrand Municipality office on Friday, 08 July 2022, by the Land Party. The demonstrators will hand over a memorandum to the Overstrand Executive Mayor regarding service delivery, as it relates to access to water, electricity and land availability. Motorists are advised to be vigilant. Police will be deployed to monitor the protest.
