• TSHWANE/ PRETORIA – 24 AUG 2022 (00H25) South Africa and Lesotho will sign various Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) on Wednesday, 24 August 2022. The members will gather from 09H00 to sign the MoUs at The Maslow Time Square, Pretoria. Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will sign an MoU with Lesotho. The sectors included in the MoU are Fiscal decentralisation, Integrated development planning and Development of Local Government and Governance institutions and structures, among others. Additionally, a technical MoU on disaster management will be signed by the Acting Head of the National Disaster Management Centre in South Africa and the Head of the Disaster Management Authority of Lesotho. The technical MoU will provide a framework for a collaborative arrangement, which includes preventing and mitigating risks related to disasters.
• JOHANNESBURG – 24 AUG 2022 (01H25) Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) leader Julias Malema has announced that the EFF will halt operations of the Pick and Pay (PnP) supermarkets Nationwide. Malema noted that the party will halt operations should the PnP management ignore the party’s third request for a meeting. This follows as the EFF, through Parliament, delivered two letters requesting a meeting with PnP executives. The EFF is requesting a meeting with the executives following reports of PnP allegedly turning against certain franchisees. The PnP executives have not yet responded to the letters.
