Deputy President David Mabuza will, on Thursday, 18 August 2022, from 14H00, respond orally to questions in the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), in line with the constitutional provision that members of the Executive are accountable to Parliament for the exercise of their powers and the performance of their functions. The Deputy President will apprise Parliament on measures the Government has taken to process flood-relief funds in eThekwini. In efforts to intensify the fight against corruption and maladministration, Deputy President Mabuza will further outline the progress made in the appointment of the National Anti-Corruption Advisory Council as announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa. As Chairperson of the Political Task Team on Eskom, Deputy President Mabuza will update members on progress made in improving energy security following the President’s announcement on the National Energy Crisis Committee, as well as interventions undertaken to implement a targeted programme to address rising municipal debt to Eskom. The Deputy President will also update the National Council of Provinces on steps taken to strengthen the capacity of municipalities, and outline actions taken to revive, restore and fulfil the economic potential of small towns and rural areas.
