SOUTH AFRICA – EASTERN CAPE – 03 FEB 2022.

  • EAST LONDON – 03 FEB 2022 (07H30) Protest expected by the members of The Green Connection on Sunday, 06 February 2022 from 10H00 at Nahoon Corner. The demonstrators are expected to protest against Shell’s seismic survey along the Wild Coast. Members of the public are advised to be vigilant. Police are aware of the protest.
  • STEYNSBURG – 03 FEB 2022 (13H50) Flooding reported on the R390 between Steynsburg and Venterstad. The flooding is caused by an agriculture holding dam wall that has broken. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
  • BELLEVUE – 03 FEB 2022 (15H00) Road closure reported on the N10 on Olifantskop pass. The road is closed due to a truck that has overturned. Bystanders are looting the truck. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Emergency services have been dispatched to the scene.
  • PORT ELIZABETH/GQEBERHA – 03 FEB 2022 (16H00) UPDATE Demonstrators have dispersed outside the Integrated Public Transport System (IPTS) offices in Greenacres. Motorists are advised to be vigilant. Police are monitoring the situation. (12H50) The demonstrators have handed over their memorandum of demands to the Nelson Mandela Metro Petition Manager. (12H20) Protest reported outside The Integrated Public Transport System (IPTS) offices in Greenacres. The Algoa Taxi Association and the Northern Areas Taxi Operators Association (NATOA) are protesting due to outstanding compensation fees and demand the Directors to step down due to mismanagement of IPTS funds. The demonstrators are expected to hand over their memorandum of demand and give them two days to respond to their demands.

 

SOUTH AFRICA – FREE STATE – 03 FEB 2022

  • ZASTRON – 03 FEB 2022 (08H20) Centlec power utility has called an urgent meeting with officials of Mohokahare local municipality following allegations of poor service delivery due to dilapidated infrastructure. Centlec Spokesperson, Lele Mamatu, stated that the meeting will be held to ensure that a sustainable solution to service delivery challenges is identified.

  • ASPEN LAKES – 03 FEB 2022 (02H35) Road closure reported at the corner Swartkoppies road and Kliprivier drive near Mall of the South, Johannesburg. The road has been closed due to a tanker that has overturned and exploded. Recovery is in progress.
  • TSHWANE/ PRETORIA – 03 FEB 2022 (06H00) President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to undertake a working visit to the Republic of Mozambique today, 03 February 2022, at the invitation of President Filipe Nyusi, President of the Republic of Mozambique. Ramaphosa will participate in the 53rd Commemoration of the assassination of Eduardo Mondlane, the founder and first President of the Mozambique Liberation Front (FRELIMO). Ramaphosa will also visit military troops that are part of the SADC Mission in Mozambique (SAMIM). The President will undertake this visit in his capacity as Chair of the South African Development Community (SADC) Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation. President Ramaphosa will be accompanied by the Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Candith Mashego-Dlamini, and Deputy Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Thabang Makwetla.
  • EDENVALE – 03 FEB 2022 (13H40) Fire reported at the Fahrenheit Seafood & Grill restaurant on Terrace Road in Edenvale. The road is closed to traffic. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Emergency services are on the scene. The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.
  • SPRINGS – 03 FEB 2022 (14H20) Cash-in-transit (CIT) robbery reported at the Palm Spring Mall in East Rand. Several suspects robbed an armoured vehicle of an undisclosed amount of money. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Police are on the scene.
  • TSHWANE/ PRETORIA – 03 FEB 2022 (14H45) Road closure reported on the N1 before Garsfontein Road off-ramp in Menlyn. The road is closed due to a motor vehicle accident. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Emergency services are on the scene. Recovery is in progress.
  • CENTURION – 03 FEB 2022 (16H15) UPDATE Demonstrators have dispersed on Venturi Crescent in Hennopspark. Motorists are advised to remain vigilant. Police are monitoring the situation. SOUTH AFRICA – KWAZULU-NATAL – 03 FEB 2022

  • DURBAN – 03 FEB 2022 (10H50) The Portfolio Committee on Public Enterprises is expected to conduct a two-day oversight visit at Transnet operations at the Port of Durban from today, 03 February 2022, until Friday, 04 February 2022. Transnet has undergone a restructuring process to incorporate the National Ports Authority, and the Minister of Transport has recently unveiled the private sector investment at the port. The purpose of the visit is to assess and understand how this incorporation will affect the financial viability and efficiency of the port.
  • KWADUKUZA – 03 FEB 2022 (14H00) KwaDukuza Municipality announced the closure of all beaches until further notice. This is due to the category 4 tropical cyclone, Batsirai, expected in Mozambique next week. The Shark Bord has removed all shark safety gear from protected beaches today, 03 February 2022, due to the effects Batsirai may have on the coast and weather conditions from Sunday, 06 February 2022.
  • UMLAZI – 03 FEB 2022 (16H30) UPDATE Demonstrators have dispersed on the M30 between Umlazi and Isipingo. Motorists are advised to remain vigilant. Police are monitoring the situation. The demonstrators are protesting to demand justice for three African National Congress (ANC) members who were shot and killed during a branch meeting in 2021 before the Local Government Elections. SOUTH AFRICA – LIMPOPO – 03 FEB 2022

  • POLOKWANE/ PIETERSBURG – 03 FEB 2022 (15H25) Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) announced an unplanned outage at the Olifantspoort plant. The interruption is due to a burst along the Specon pipeline. The repairs on the line are estimated to take about eight hours. LNW will continue pumping once all repairs have been completed.

  • KARINO– 03 FEB 2022 (07H50) Cash-in-transit (CIT) robbery reported at Sasol Emkhatsini filling station. Reports indicate that unidentified suspects have robbed an armoured vehicle of an undisclosed amount of money. No injuries have been reported. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Police have been dispatched.
  • EVANDER – 03 FEB 2022 (15H45) Road closure reported on the N17 between Sasol N17 Plaza and Leandra toll gate. The road is closed due to a motor vehicle accident. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Emergency services are on the scene. Recovery is in progress.

  • ITSOSENG – 03 FEB 2022 (09H20) The Itsoseng Regional Court has postponed the case of four suspects and one minor accused of murder to Friday, 18 February 2022, for bail judgement. The suspects have been arrested for killing two Police officers in Mareetsane with their remains discovered at the back of a State vehicle on Tuesday, 27 July 2021, in Ganyesa.
  • GANYESA – 03 FEB 2022 (11H30) Protest reported outside the Kagisano Molopo Local Municipality Offices. The demonstrators are protesting against maladministration in the municipality. The demonstrators have barricaded the entrance of the offices with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.

  • KATHU – 03 FEB 2022 (12H00) UPDATE Demonstrations reported on the intersection of Kathu Village Mall and Hendrik Van Eck Road towards the Zanray Fuel station. (11H20) The R380 has been re-opened for traffic flow. The situation remains volatile. Motorists are advised to be vigilant. (07H10) Stone-throwing reported. Motorists are advised to avoid Hendrick Van Eck Road and Ian Fleming Street. (06H20) Protest reported on the R380 near Kathu Village Mall towards Sishen Mine.   • CAPE TOWN – 03 FEB 2022 (07H00) Protest expected by the members of The Green Connection on Sunday, 06 February 2022 from 10H00 at Muizenburg Beach. The demonstrators are expected to protest against Shell’s seismic survey along the Wild Coast. The demonstrators are expected to disperse from 12H00. Members of the public are advised to be vigilant. Police are aware of the protest.
  • CAPE TOWN – 03 FEB 2022 (14H40) UPDATE The Potsdam Road has been re-opened to traffic. Motorists are advised to remain vigilant. SBV Services responded to the attack on an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) team outside the Shoprite Centre. The CIT was unsuccessful. SBV Service officers are searching for the suspects involved in the CIT. (09H00) Road closure reported on Potsdam Road due to CIT robbery. One injury has been reported. Explosive devices have been found. (08H10) Cash in Transit (CIT) robbery in progress reported on Potsdam Road in near Shoprite Store in Du Noon. Reported indicated that unidentified suspects have bombed an armoured vehicle. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.
  • CAPE TOWN – 03 FEB 2022 (15H15) Students held a peaceful protest at the Belhar High School today, 03 February 2022. The students have been protesting against violence in the community. This follows after a student have been assaulted while walking home. Two armed suspects have approached the student. The suspects robbed him of his belongings and stabbed him. The student is in stable condition. Police have addressed the students during the protest.
