• PORT ELIZABETH/ GQEBERHA – 03 MAY 2022 (02H15) The Nelson Bay Municipality is expected to host an information session on Thursday, 05 May 2022, at 18H00. The session is expected to discuss the drought crisis in the area. This follows as the City’s dam level has been reported at approximately 14%. Residents are urged to gather at the Despatch Town Hall, Uitenhage Town Hall, Gelvandale Community Hall and others. The session is set to be provided to the public virtually.
• BISHO – 03 MAY 2022 (06H30) The former Buffalo City Speaker Luleka Simon-Ndzele, former Mayor Zukiswa Ncitha, former Deputy Mayor Themba Tinta, former Member of the Executive (MEC) for Health, Sindiswa Gomba and the Municipality’s former Supply Chain Manager, Thembelani Sali are expected to appear at the Bisho High Court, today 03 May 2022. The accused have been charged with fraud, money laundering and contravention of the Municipal Finance Management Act. The charges are related to R10 million that was allegedly misused from the Buffalo City Metropolitan funds during the memorial and funeral of former President Nelson Mandela in 2013.
• IDUTYWA – 03 MAY 2022 (07H50) UPDATE Police have dispersed the demonstrations. The N2 routes has been reopened for traffic flow. Motorists are advised to be vigilant. (06H50) Protest reported on the N2 from Idutywa towards Mthatha. The demonstrators are protesting due to poor service delivery. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police are on the scene.
• EAST LONDON – 03 MAY 2022 (12H20) Armed robbery reported at the Gonubie Post Office. Reports indicate that unidentified suspects have robbed the Post Office of an undisclosed amount of money. One security officer has been shot. The suspects have fled the scene wearing South African Police Service (SAPS) uniforms. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.

SOUTH AFRICA – FREE STATE – 03 MAY 2022
• DENEYSVILLE – 03 MAY 2022 (09H35) Armed robbery reported at the Deneysville Post Office. Reports indicate that unidentified suspects have robbed the Post Office of an undisclosed amount of money. No injuries have been reported. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police are on the scene.
• PAUL ROUX – 03 MAY 2022 (11H35) Attempted Cash in Transit (CIT) robbery reported at Paul Roux Post Office. Reports indicate that five suspects attempted to rob an armoured vehicle (AV). However, the suspects had failed to steal an undisclosed amount of money. Firearms have been taken. No injuries have been reported. The suspects have fled the scene. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police are on the scene.

• GA-RANKUWA – 03 MAY 2022 (10H00) Protest reported at the Pick n Pay Store at the Ga-Rankuwa City Shopping Centre. The employees are protesting to demand R8000 salaries. The demonstrators have blockaded the entrance of the Store. Members of the public are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.
• SHOSHANGUVE – 03 MAY 2022 (11H25) Protest reported at Filadelfia Secondary School. Security Officers are protesting due to unpaid salaries for three months. The demonstrators have blocked the entrance of the school with debris and have blocked educators from entering the school premises. Members of the public are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.
• KRUGERSDORP – 03 MAY 2022 (12H10) Protest reported at the Mogale City Municipality Offices. The Municipal employees are protesting due to salary disputes and demand the council to address the issue of a wage gap. The demonstrators have blockaded the area. Members of the public are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police are on the scene.
• CARLETONVILLE – 03 MAY 2022 (14H00) Sibanye-Stillwater employees held a meeting today, 03 May 2022, at one of Sibanye-Stillwater’s operation sites. This follows after unions, the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) and Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU), held meetings with Sibanye-Stillwater’s management on 02 May 2022. The employees are intensifying their strike action from today after an impasse has been reached in the negotiations. The employees are demanding an R1,000 increase. However, Sibanye-Stillwater’s offer remains at R850. The employees have been on strike for three months.
• SANDTON – 03 MAY 2022 (14H10) Eskom announced the implementation of Stage 2 loadshedding from today, 03 May 2022, 17H00, until Monday, 09 May 2022, 05H00. The loadshedding has been caused by a shortage of generation capacity owing to delays in returning generators to service and breakdowns of nine generators. A generation unit each at Lethabo, Tutuka, Ingula, Drakensberg, Arnot and two units each at Hendrina and Matla power stations have experienced breakdowns. Further, delays in returning generators to service at Arnot, Kendal and three units at Tutuka power station have added to the capacity constraints.
• ROODEPOORT – 03 MAY 2022 (15H45) Courier robbery reported on Mimosa Street in Wilro Park. Suspects robbed a courier vehicle of an undisclosed amount of money and items. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Police are on the scene.

• UMLAZI – 03 MAY 2022 (05H50) Protest reported on Griffiths Mxenge Highway/M30 in the vicinity of Mega City. The demonstrators are protesting due to poor service delivery. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.
• PINETOWN – 03 MAY 2022 (06H05) Protest reported on Intake Road. Residents of Enteke in Marianhill are protesting due to poor service delivery related to water outages. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.
• DURBAN – 03 MAY 2022 (06H40) Road closure reported on the N3 near Shongweni due to a truck that overturned. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Emergency services are on the scene. Recovery is in progress.
• DURBAN – 03 MAY 2022 (08H20) Minister of Tourism, Lindiwe Sisulu, is expected to officiate the opening of Africa’s Travel Indaba 2022 today, 03 May 2022, at the Durban Exhibition Centre. The indaba is expected to generate R 72.5 million in income for the City’s economy and will focus on recovery from the pandemic, opportunities to combine business and leisure tourism, and enhancing intra-African travel and tourism.
• SAND RIVER VALLEY – 03 MAY 2022 (17H40) Road closure reported on the N3 between Sand River Valley and Estcourt near Tugela River. The road is closed due to a diesel spillage. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Clean-up is in progress.
• LADYSMITH – 03 MAY 2022 (18H15) Protest reported in Ezakheni. Residents are protesting due to unanswered water issues in the Ezakheni area. Demonstrators are barricading roads with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

• BURGERSFORT – 03 MAY 2022 (09H30) Protest reported at the Thaba Moshate Hotel Casino and Convention Resort. Employees are protesting to demand salary adjustments for workers who have served the company for over five years and a 7% wage increase. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with stones and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.
• PIETERSBURG/POLOKWANE – 03 MAY 2022 (12H00) Protest reported outside the Seshego Magistrate’s Court. Residents are protesting to demand the court to deny bail for three accused suspects in the alleged murder of Ronald Makgato, who went missing in 2006. Three suspects are expected to appear in the court for bail application hearings. The demonstrators have blocked the area. • NELSPRUIT/MBOMBELA – 03 MAY 2022 (10H30) Premier Mtshweni-Tsipane is expected to address the 5th annual opening of the Mpumalanga House of Traditional and Khoisan Leaders (MPHTKL) at the Provincial Legislature today, 03 May 2022. The function will mark the official opening of the Provincial House and further serve as an opportunity for the Premier to strengthen the working relations between the Provincial Government and the institution of traditional leadership that represents the aspirations of communities in rural areas.
• KRIEL – 03 MAY 2022 (12H50) Protest reported on the R547 in the vicinity of Exxaro Dorstfontein West Mine. Previous demonstrations have been related to employment-related matters. • MIDDELBURG – 03 MAY 2022 (15H20) The National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union (NEWAWU) is holding a meeting at the Middelburg Pharmaceutical Depot. The union is discussing challenges the employees are facing regarding their workplace.
• SABIE – 03 MAY 2022 (17H45) UPDATE Minister Cele and Police management are receiving a report from the investigating team at the crime scene where the body of Hillary Gardee was found. The body was found in the Sabie area outside Mbombela. (16H50) Police Minister Bheki Cele and National Commissioner, Fannie Masemola have arrived in Mbombela, following the murder of Hillary Gardee. (16H00) Police have launched a murder investigation after former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Secretary-General Godrich Gardee’s daughter, Hillary Gardee, was found near Mbombela. Police had been called by residents, informing them that they had found the body of a woman. The body was later identified as Hillary Gardee. Hillary went missing on Friday, 29 April 2022, after she was last seen at the Nelspruit Plaza Super Spar in the Central Business District around 17H30. The circumstances surrounding Hillary’s disappearance are not yet known.

• RUSTENBURG – 03 MAY 2022 (12H30) Protest reported at Freedom Park, Shaft number 8. Contractors from Impala Platinum mine under Bidvest Prestige. The demonstrators are protesting due to labour-related matters. The demonstrators have blockaded the area. Members of the public are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. SOUTH AFRICA – NORTHERN CAPE – 03 MAY 2022
• JAN KEMPDORP – 03 MAY 2022 (16H30) The Jan Kempdorp Magistrate’s Court has postponed the case against accused Aobakwe Johnny to Monday, 09 May 2022. The accused is facing charges of sexual assault. The accused appeared in court today, 03 May 2022, where he applied for bail. The accused will remain in custody until his next court appearance. Community members held a protest outside the court during the proceedings. The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Regional Spokesperson, Mojalefa Senokoatsane, stated that the state would oppose bail.

SOUTH AFRICA – WESTERN CAPE – 03 MAY 2022
• CAPE TOWN – 03 MAY 2022 (05H00) Planned service disruption is expected in areas of Cape Town. The Knole park area is set to experience service disruptions from approximately 08H00 until 13H30. The Panorama area is set to be disrupted from approximately 08H00 until 14H00. Furthermore, the Robinville area is expected to experience service disruptions from approximately 09H00 until 16H00. The public is advised to handle all outlets as live in addition to disconnecting electrical appliances.
• CAPE TOWN – 03 MAY 2022 (08H30) Premier Alan Winde, along with the United States (US) Consulate General, Todd Haskell, and the US Trade and Development Agency’s (USTDA) Regional Director for Sub-Saharan Africa, Heather Lanigan, are expected to sign the R20 million broadband feasibility study agreement, today 03 May 2022 from 10H00. The study aims to look at solutions to bridge the digital divide and strengthen internet access in marginalised and rural communities. This will bolster the Province’s broadband infrastructure by providing affordable high-speed broadband networks throughout the Province.
• CAPE TOWN – 03 MAY 2022 (16H40) UPDATE Four people, including a Police officer, have been shot and wounded in a shootout between a group of armed robbers and the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Eerste River. The Kleinvlei Crime Prevention Unit received a complaint about a business robbery at 12H45 today, 03 May 2022. Armed suspects allegedly entered the post office in City Centre and demanded money. The suspects fled the scene. No arrests have been made. The Kleinvlei Police Station is investigating cases of attempted murder, attack on the Police and business robbery. (13H40) Business robbery reported at the Eersterivier Post Office on Main Road in the Eerste River area. Several people have been shot and injured. The public is advised to avoid the area. Police and emergency services are dispatched to the scene.
