SOUTH AFRICA – EASTERN CAPE – 06 MAY 2022
• PORT ELIZABETH/GQEBERHA – 05 MAY 2022 (23H30) Planned Service Disruption expected in the Gqeberha region on 07 May 2022 or alternatively 14 May 2022. The electrical disruption is expected to affect areas connected to the N01 and N02 lines. These include Zwide, KwaZakhele, New Brighton and others. The disruption is expected to last from 08H00 until 17H00. No reason has been confirmed for the planned disruption. The public has been advised to handle all outlets as live during the electrical disruption.
• EAST LONDON – 06 MAY 2022 (07H10) The African National Congress (ANC) is expected to hold its Provincial Conference from Friday, 06 May 2022, until Sunday, 08 May 2022, at the International Convention Centre.
• EAST LONDON – 06 MAY 2022 (07H20) Road closures expected today, 06 May 2022, until 18H00 on Sunday, 08 May 2022 from 05H00. The road closures are expected to be implemented for the Provincial Conference at the International Convention Centre (ICC). The road closures include the corner of Fitzpatrick Road and Esplanade Road, the end of the ICC yard next to Kennaway, the corner of Clifford Street and Rees Street and the traffic circle at the back of Kennaway Hotel. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes for the duration of the scheduled road closures.

SOUTH AFRICA – FREE STATE – 06 MAY 2022
• SASOLBURG – 05 MAY 2022 (20H20) Road closure reported on the R59 in Vaalpark. The road is closed due to a motor vehicle accident. A traffic delay is expected. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Emergency services are on the scene.
• BETHLEHEM – 05 MAY 2022 (21H00) The six suspects arrested for their involvement in a cash-in-transit (CIT) robbery are expected to appear in the Bethlehem Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 06 May 2022. The Hawks, along with Public Order Policing (POP) and the Tactical Response Team (TRT) in Phuthaditjhaba, detained the six suspects on Tuesday, 03 May 2022. This follows after two EFS Security Officials were delivering money at the Post Office in Paul Roux. One of the security officials exited the armoured vehicle with a bag containing the undisclosed amount of money. The driver, who was inside the vehicle, saw a number of suspects who then started to shoot at the security vehicle. The security officer, who had been outside the vehicle with the money, was able to gain entry to the vehicle again. The security official escaped the scene, and they drove to the Paul Roux Police Station for assistance. An intelligence-driven operation was conducted by the Police, which led to the arrest of the suspects.
• ZASTRON – 05 MAY 2022 (23H45) The Zastron Magistrate Court has postponed the hearing of the Zama Public Primary School incident to 06 May 2022. This follows after the suspect did not have a social worker to have a consultation. Reports indicate that the suspect had no social worker as no worker was available.

SOUTH AFRICA – GAUTENG – 06 MAY 2022
• EDENVALE – 05 MAY 2022 (19H15) City Power announced that the Sebenza power station tripped in Edenvale on Thursday afternoon, 05 May 2022. The suburbs affected include Bramley, Kew, Atholl, Observatory, Orange Grove, Kensington, Bertrams, Yeoville, Melrose, Greenstone, Modderfontein, Lyndhurst and surrounding areas. Technicians are attending to the matter.
• SPRINGS – 05 MAY 2022 (19H30) Protest reported on Welgedacht Road and Main Street between Taxi Rank and Slovo Park. Demonstrators are barricading the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched to the scene.
• TSHWANE/ PRETORIA – 05 MAY 2022 (19H30) Protest expected at the Union Buildings on Wednesday, 11 May 2022. The Democracy in Action (DIA) and community members are expected to march against loadshedding. Demonstrators will gather at Church Square at 10H00 and march to the Union Buildings. Motorists are advised to be vigilant during the march. Police are aware of the protest.
• PRETORIA/TSHWANE – 05 MAY 2022 (22H25) The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) and Eskom are expected to collaborate on State Capture cases. The NPA and its Investigating Directorate (ID) are set to collaborate with Eskom and their legal team. The announcement follows after a meeting between the National Director of Public Prosecutions, Shamilia Batohi and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Eskom, Andre de Ruyter, at the NPA offices. During the meeting, the members discussed appropriate collaborations regarding the State Capture and organised crimes cases against Eskom. The NPA and Eskom agreed to increase existing collaborations which expectedly includes expanding the sharing of high-level and operational coordination. Furthermore, the two entities are expected to continue their collaborations with the Law enforcement authorities regarding cable thefts, damage to essential infrastructure and others.
• PRETORIA/TSHWANE – 05 MAY 2022 (22H40) The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is expected to handle cases of the 2022 State Capture. The NPA noted that they are not expected to provide impunity for crimes committed against State-owned enterprises, including Eskom. Eskom has allegedly established a project team supported by its internal and external lawyers. The team is set to ensure that the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into Allegations of State Capture, Fraud and Corruption report is reviewed and understood. Furthermore, the team is set to provide appropriate actions to protect Eskom’s interests. The team, led by Eskom’s Group Executive for Legal and Compliance, is set to assist the NPA by providing information to prosecute State Capture crimes.
• TSHWANE/PRETORIA – 06 MAY 2022 (06H30) Protest expected by members of the Fire Professions Council of South Africa today, 06 May 2022, at the Union Buildings. The demonstrators are expected to gather at the corner of Kgosi Mampuru Street and Madiba Street and march to the Union Buildings. The demonstrators are expected to protest to demand permanent employment of all the reservists who have been working for more than three months. The demonstrators are expected to hand over a memorandum of demand. The demonstrators are expected to disperse from the Union Buildings from 13H00. The following intersections will be affected during the march, Kgosi Mampuru Street, Sophie De Bruyn Street, Bosman Street, Paul Kruger Street, Thabo Sehume Street, Lillian Ngoyi Street, Sisulu Street, Du Toit Street, Nelson Mandela Drive, Steve Biko Street, Hamilton Street, Zeederberg Street. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police will be deployed to monitor the area.
• RANDBURG – 06 MAY 2022 (08H00) The Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) Commander in Chief (CIC), Julius Malema, is expected to appear at the Randburg Magistrate Court today, 06 May 2022, from 09H00. Malema is expected to appear for the hearing on the matter of the Police officer who allegedly denied Malema entry into the final resting place of Winnie Madikizela-Mandela in 2018.

SOUTH AFRICA – KWAZULU-NATAL – 06 MAY 2022
• DURBAN – 05 MAY 2022 (19H00) President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to launch an international conference at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre (ICC) in Durban from 15 May 2022 until 20 May 2022. Ramaphosa is expected to be accompanied by Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera, International Labour Organisation (ILO) Chairperson Guy Ryder and Argentina President Alberto Perez. Reports indicated that 4,000 delegates are expected to attend the conference, which is expected to discuss child labour-related matters.
• VERULAM – 06 MAY 2022 (04H50) Protest reported on the R102 and Old Inanda Road intersection. The demonstrators are protesting due to poor service delivery related to water outages. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police are on the scene.
• PIETERMARITZBURG – 06 MAY 2022 (08H50) UPDATE Demonstrations reported at Promed Road and Old Bishopstowe Road. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. (06H45) Protest reported on Royston Road in Sobantu. The demonstrators are protesting due to issues between taxi operators and meter taxi operators. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.

SOUTH AFRICA – LIMPOPO – 06 MAY 2022
• THOHOYANDOU – 05 MAY 2022 (19H30) The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) in Limpopo announced that it has given the Vhembe District Municipality until Friday, 06 May 2022, to submit a plan to address water and sanitation issues raised by the commission. This follows after the SAHRC’s two-day visit this week to areas in the district municipality to inspect and monitor the provision of clean drinking water. The areas that the commission visited include, amongst others, Thohoyandou and surroundings, Ha Mutoti, ka Mhinga, and Matiyani Villages. The municipality made a commitment to repair some of the issues raised before Friday, 13 May 2022.
• VUWANI – 05 MAY 2022 (23H15) The former Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Collins Chabane Municipality has been arrested on 05 May 2022. The CFO has been arrested regarding his alleged involvement in investing municipal funds with VBS mutual bank. The investment of approximately R120 million with VBS on 23 October 2017 is set to be in violation of the Municipal Finance Management Act. Hawks Spokesperson Brigadier Thandi Mbambo noted that the CFO is expected to appear before the Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Friday, 06 May 2022. The Hawks agency is expected to continue investigations regarding the illegal usage of Municipal funds.
• MOKOPANE – 06 MAY 2022 (07H55) The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) is expected to hold its 9th Provincial Conference today, 06 May 2022, until Sunday, 08 May 2022. The conference is expected to be held at the Oasis Hotel in Mokopane.
• MOHLOTLO – 06 MAY 2022 (08H40) President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to officiate the launch of Anglo American’s NuGen Zero Emission Haulage Solution today, 06 May 2022, from 11H00. The launch of the haulage solution, a hydrogen-powered, ultra-class mine haul truck, will take place at the Mogalakwena PGM mine in Mokopane. Anglo American’s NuGen Zero Emission Haulage Solution is designed to operate fully laden with a payload of 290 tonnes in conventional mine conditions. Ramaphosa is also expected to observe the working demonstration of the NuGen hydrogen-powered truck and join a guided tour of Anglo American’s on-site hydrogen production, storage and refuelling complex, which incorporates the largest electrolyser in Africa.

• MIDDELBURG – 06 MAY 2022 (02H25) The National Health Department has announced the corrected statement regarding the updated COVID-19 safety precautions. The Department noted that children in schools are still required to wear face masks when attending class. Furthermore, spectators attending school events are not required to provide a COVID-19 vaccination certificate or a negative Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test. The announcement is set to adapt the COVID-19 safety measures announced on Wednesday, 04 May 2022.

• MAFIKENG – 05 MAY 2022 (21H55) The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has announced that the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) won the by-elections for Ward 5. This follows after the EFF party accumulated approximately 42% of the voters in the Ward 5 area.
• WOLMARANSTAD – 06 MAY 2022 (08H35) The Provincial Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Premier, Finance, Cooperative Governance, and Human Settlements is expected to hold a follow-up meeting with Maquassi Hills Local Municipality over issues of governance that were raised during the previous oversight meeting with the municipality in Wolmaransstad. The meeting is expected to be held today, 06 May 2022, from 09H00 at the Legislature Committee Room.

• PRIESKA – 06 MAY 2022 (06H00) Peaceful protest expected today, 06 May 2022, at the Gariep High School from 11H30. The former Democratic Alliance (DA) and Leader of One South Africa Movement, Mmusi Maimane, is expected to lead a march against the illegal African National Congress (ANC) power grab in Prieska.
