• MHLAKULO – 11 MAY 2022 (06H50) Protest reported on the N2 between Mthatha and Qumbu in the vicinity of Mhlakulo. The demonstrators are protesting due to poor service delivery. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.

SOUTH AFRICA – FREE STATE – 11 MAY 2022
• BLOEMFONTEIN – 11 MAY 2022 (08H40) Premier Sisi Ntombela is expected to hold a meeting with the Members of the Executive Council (MECs) today, 11 May 2022, at the Civic Centre from 19H00. The meeting is expected to be held to address issues of poor service delivery highlighted during the recent Presidential Imbizo and address solutions to resolve the issues.
• WEPENER – 11 MAY 2022 (15H00) Police have launched a search operation for suspects involved in a business robbery at the Sarbonia Supermarket in Wepener. One Police officer has been fatally shot and another injured. The two officers responded to information about the robbery. The suspects opened fire on the officers. The suspects stole the Police officers’ weapons and fled the scene.

• VANDERBIJLPARK – 11 MAY 2022 (06H05) Protest expected by members affiliated with the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) at the ArcelorMittal South Africa in Vanderbijlpark today, 11 May 2022, from 10H00. The NUMSA members are expected to protest to demand 10% wage increases, housing allowance, 80% medical aid contribution from the employer and the removal of Labour Brokers and insourcing of temporary employees. The demonstrators are expected to disperse from 12H00. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police will be deployed to monitor the area.
• TSHWANE/PRETORIA – 11 MAY 2022 (07H20) Protest expected by members affiliated with the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) at Xtremetec Management and Consulting offices today, 11 May 2022. NUMSA members are expected to protest at the Xtremetec Management and Consulting offices, which is responsible for the Areyeng Tshwane Rapid Transit (BRT) bus system in the City of Tshwane. The demonstrators are expected to protest to demand a transport allowance of R2500 and a nightshift allowance of R60 per hour. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police will be deployed to monitor the area.
• SANDTON – 11 MAY 2022 (10H50) The Eskom Group Executive, Andre de Ruyter, is expected to hold a media brief today, 11 May 2022, from 12H30 until 15H00. Eskom’s management is expected to provide an update on the company’s operational performance.
• SANDTON – 11 MAY 2022 (12H15) Eskom has announced that stage 2 of loadshedding will be implemented today, 11 May 2022, from 17H00 until 22H00. Eskom stated that two generation units at Hendrina Power Station and one at Matimba Power Station have been taken offline for repairs. A generation unit each at the Kusile and Tutuka power stations are expected to return to service today, 11 May 2022.
• TSHWANE/PRETORIA – 11 MAY 2022 (13H20) UPDATE Demonstrators have handed over their petitions to an official from the Office of the Presidency. (12H20) Demonstrations reported at Church Square. The DIA members and APC members are marching to the Union Buildings. The demonstrators are expected to hand over signed petitions calling for load-shedding to end. (08H00) Protest expected by the African People’s Convention (APC) members today, 11 May 2022, at the Union Buildings. The demonstrators are expected to gather at Church Square from 10H00 and march to the Union Buildings. The demonstrators are expected to protest against the privatisation of Eskom and demand the end of loadshedding and demand Minister Pravin Gordhan to resign. (06H00) Protest expected at the Union Buildings today, 11 May 2022. The Democracy in Action (DIA) members are expected to march against loadshedding. Demonstrators will gather at Church Square at 10H00 and march to the Union Buildings. Motorists are advised to be vigilant during the march. Police are aware of the protest.
• JOHANNESBURG – 11 MAY 2022 (16H10) The African National Congress (ANC) has postponed the elective conference for the Greater Johannesburg region to 27 May 2022 until 29 May 2022. This follows after the former Mayor of Johannesburg, Mpho Moerane, was hospitalised due to a motor vehicle accident. This allows branches to re-run and appeal Regional Dispute Committee decisions.

• DURBAN – 11 MAY 2022 (17H10) Road closure reported on the N2 Southbound in Umdloti. The road is closed due to a crime scene. Suspects attempted to hijack a vehicle. One person has been shot and injured. Emergency services are on the scene. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
• NEWCASTLE – 11 MAY 2022 (17H30) Protest reported on Allen Street in Madadeni industrial area. Demonstrators are barricading the road with burning tyres. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched to the scene.

• MOKOPANE/ POTGIETERSRUS – 11 MAY 2022 (13H50) The Mokopane Magistrate Court has postponed the murder case of Mogalakwena Councillors Valtyne Kekana and Ralph Kanyane to 17 May 2022 for a formal bail application. The four accused made their first court appearance today, 11 May 2022. This follows after the accused allegedly shot and killed the Councillors on 23 July 2019. The accused have been remanded in custody.

• NELSPRUIT/MBOMBELA – 11 MAY 2022 (11H20) The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (DENOSA) is expected to hold a rally in commemoration of the International Nurses Day on Thursday, 12 May 2022, at the Church Unlimited near the R40 towards Barberton.
• LYDENBURG – 11 MAY 2022 (12H00) Fire reported at the Kellysville sub-station. The fire is due to a system overload caused by illegal electricity connections and a high electricity usage which exceeds the sub-stations supply capacity. The following areas have been affected, Duma Village, Kellysville, Beverly Hills, Ext 6, Majubane, New Stand, Crossroads, Duduza and Rockville. Technical teams are on the site.
• WITBANK/ EMALAHLENI – 11 MAY 2022 (13H45) The Police have issued a warning to motorists of an increase in spiking incidents in Mpumalanga. Hotspot routes for spiking include the N4 Pretoria to Mpumalanga between Bronkhorstspruit and Balmoral off-ramp and the N12 between Witbank and Delmas. Motorists are to treat any unusual objects on the road as dangerous and avoid using these routes during the night.
