• ALIWAL NORTH – 18 APR 2022 (06H00) The African National Congress (ANC) is expected to hold the Cadres Forum today, 18 April 2022, at the Joe Slovo Community Hall from 12H00. The ANC Provincial Convener, Oscar Mabuyane, is expected to address the ANC members during the Cadres Forum.
• PORT ST JOHNS – 18 APR 2022 (11H20) Premier Oscar Mabuyane is expected to visit Port St Johns today, 18 April 2022. Mabuyane is expected to assess the damage caused by floods in the area.
• MTHATHA – 18 APR 2022 (11H30) The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) is expected to hold its Workers Day Rally on Sunday, 01 May 2022, at the Mthatha Stadium. COSATU members are expected to hold a rally to recognise the union’s achievements. Motorists and members of the public are advised to be vigilant during the rally. Police will be deployed to monitor the area.
• QUEENSTOWN – 18 APR 2022 (11H40) The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) is expected to hold its Workers Day Rally on Sunday, 01 May 2022, at the Queenstown Indoor Sports Centre. COSATU members are expected to hold a rally to recognise the union’s achievements. Motorists and members of the public are advised to be vigilant during the rally. Police will be deployed to monitor the area.

SOUTH AFRICA – FREE STATE – 18 APR 2022
• BLOEMFONTEIN – 18 APR 2022 (08H45) The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has written to the office of the Public Protector (PP), Busisiwe Mkhwebane, to request an investigation to be launched against the Department of Police, Roads and Transport. This follows after the EFF accused the department of making upfront payments of R180 million for roads construction and maintenance in the province to various service providers to commence with the road construction projects and do the necessary maintenance.
• PHUTHADITJHABA – 18 APR 2022 (10H55) Protest reported at the intersection of Nkahloleng Road and Mota Road in the vicinity of Moteka Secondary School. The demonstrators are protesting due to poor service delivery related to electricity. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.

SOUTH AFRICA – GAUTENG – 18 APR 2022
• PRETORIA/TSHWANE – 18 APR 2022 (00H30) Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane is expected to assemble and deploy an investigations team to KwaZulu-Natal. The team is expected to monitor and investigate the delivery of public service deliveries and humanitarian aid projects. This follows the announcement that KwaZulu-Natal is expected to receive approximately R1-billion from the National Treasury. The money is expected to be delivered on Tuesday, 19 April 2022.
• VANDERBIJLPARK – 18 APR 2022 (14H45) Protest reported on Milton Road in the vicinity of Trip-Tiek Butchery. Residents are protesting due to poor service delivery. Demonstrators are throwing stones at passing vehicles. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Police are on the scene.
• TSHWANE/ PRETORIA – 18 APR 2022 (15H45) President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to address the nation at 20H00 today, 18 April 2022. The President is expected to discuss the Government’s response to the floods in KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape. The address follows a special Cabinet meeting on Sunday, 17 April 2022, where the Government assessed the social and economic affects of flooding in the two provinces and work underway to provide relief and rebuild.
• JOHANNESBURG – 18 APR 2022 (16H30) The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) called on the Government of Rwanda and President Paul Kagame to cancel an agreement with the United Kingdom (UK). The agreement includes that asylum seekers who will enter the UK from different counties will be deported to Rwanda and kept there until the situation in their countries has improved. The EFF is expected to write letters to the Government of Rwanda and all relevant institutions to address the matter.

• KLOOF – 18 APR 2022 (08H20) Protest reported on Wyebank Road. The demonstrators are protesting due to poor service delivery. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.
• VERULAM – 18 APR 2022 (07H25) Protest reported on Old Inanda Road. The demonstrators are protesting due to poor service delivery. • WESTVILLE – 18 APR 2022 (09H10) Protest reported in Dawncrest. The demonstrators are protesting due to poor service delivery. Reports indicated that gunshots are being fired in the area. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police are on the scene.
• NTUZUMA – 18 APR 2022 (14H00) UPDATE Police have dispersed the looters with warning shots. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. (12H20) Looting reported on Dumasani Makhaya Drive. The demonstrators are looting a truck. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. (11H05) Protest reported at the intersection of Dumisani Makhaye Drive and Malendela Road. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. The demonstrators are protesting due to poor service delivery related to water and electricity. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.
• ISIPINGO – 18 APR 2022 (14H15) Protest reported on Inwabi Road at the Restoration Ministries turn-off in Isipingo Rail. Demonstrators are barricading the road with burning tyres. Residents are protesting due to a 7-day water and power outage in the area. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Police are on the scene.
• DURBAN – 18 APR 2022 (14H30) The South African Army stated that it had deployed 10,000 troops to help KwaZulu-Natal recover from storms that have claimed 443-lives and damaged infrastructure. Some of the troops include plumbers and electricians to help restore power and water, which have been cut off in some areas for a week. The troops are also providing field accommodation and water purification systems. Approximately 40,000 people have been left without residences, and more than 550 schools and 60 health care facilities have been damaged.
• DURBAN – 18 APR 2022 (15H00) Transnet announced that Bayhead Road is open under the strict supervision of Law Enforcement Authorities. Pier 1 will commence with appointments slots for specific blocks from 12H00 today, 18 April 2022. The availability of slots is being restricted due to the limited access on Bayhead Road to avoid creating congestion. Import will be released for blocks A1, A2, A3, F2, D2, G2, G3, all reefers and empties. Thirty slots will be allocated per hour. Import storage’s last free day will be communicated as per the published import storage schedule and extensions granted when necessary. Export stacks will be communicated.
• ILFRACOMBE – 18 APR 2022 (15H45) Road closure reported on the N2 in Ilfracombe. The road is closed due to flooding. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
• DURBAN – 18 APR 2022 (15H45) Road closure reported on Quarry Road near the M19 intersection. The Quarry Road bridge is damaged and is expected to collapse. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Emergency services are on the scene.
• DURBAN – 18 APR 2022 (18H40) Protest reported on Shallcross Road near the Ridge Shopping Centre. Demonstrators are barricading the road with burning tyres. Residents are protesting due to power and water outages. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched to the scene.

SOUTH AFRICA – LIMPOPO – 18 APR 2022
• POLOKWANE – 18 APR 2022 (03H20) The Police have announced the arrests made during the Easter holiday. Police have confirmed the arrests of approximately eleven motorists for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. The motorists have been arrested during a road safety operation campaign on various roads. The Police are expected to continue their operations until after the Easter holiday.

SOUTH AFRICA – MPUMALANGA – 18 APR 2022
• NELSPRUIT/MBOMBELA – 18 APR 2022 (01H55) The Provincial Commissioner of the Mpumulanga South African Police Services (SAPS), Semakaleng Manamela, is expected to visit various roadblocks on Monday, 18 April 2022, at approximately 10H00. The visit is expected to increase discipline and compliance by SAPS members in addition to the community. Additionally, the visit is expected to assure the safety of travellers.
• MALELANE – 18 APR 2022 (12H40) The South African Police Service (SAPS) has issued a warning to motorists of spiking incidents on the N4 between Malelane and Komatipoort. Law enforcement officers have advised motorists to remain vigilant when travelling on the roadway and avoid suspicious objects.
• KOMATIPOORT – 18 APR 2022 (17H25) A Mozambican national is expected to appear at Komatipoort Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 19 April 2022, on charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and the possible smuggling of firearms and ammunition. Police arrested the suspect at the Lebombo border post on Thursday, 14 April 2022, on suspicion of trafficking AK-47 assault rifles and ammunition. The arrest took place during the inspection of a silver Toyota Hilux pickup truck with Mpumalanga registration crossing from Mozambique into South Africa. The Police have seized two AK-47 rifles and two magazines with ammunition.

• GANYESA – 18 APR 2022 (07H15) The African National Congress (ANC) Youth League in the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompait District has called for the removal of the Municipal Manager of Kagisano Molopo Local Municipality, Olaotse Bojosinyane, in Ganyesa near Vryburg. The ANCYL has allegedly accused Bojosinyane of sowing divisions in the municipal council, maladministration and corruption.

SOUTH AFRICA – NORTHERN CAPE – 18 APR 2022
• KLEINSEE – 18 APR 2022 (04H50) A Mine has collapsed in the Northern Cape town Kleinsee. Three miners have been fatally injured and ten miners injured after a tunnel collapsed at the Nuttaboy Mine. The miners are allegedly illegal miners, as community leader Paul Swartbooi requested that the Government to legalise mining in the area.
• BARKLY WEST – 18 APR 2022 (08H05) Road closure reported on the R31 Barkly West and Kimberley due to flooding. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Emergency services have been dispatched.
• CAMPBELL – 18 APR 2022 (11H05) Protest reported on the N8 between Campbell and Kimberley. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. Previous demonstrations have been related to poor service delivery. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Police have been dispatched.

• MOSSEL BAY – 18 APR 2022 (07H50) The Minister of Small Business Development, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams and Deputy Minister Sidumo Dlamini are expected to lead the countrywide roadshows scheduled in the province from Wednesday, 20 April 2022, until Friday, 22 April 2022, from 09H00. The roadshows are expected to begin at the Mossel Bay Town Hall and end at the Solomon Mahlangu Sports and Recreation Centre. The purpose of the roadshows is to showcase the work of the Department of Small Business Development (DSBD), its agencies and other strategic government departments involved in the development of Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs), monitor the support and impact on SMMEs through the interventions by the Government, share challenges and listen to success stories of entrepreneurs in various districts across the country to improve government support and to better coordinate support for SMMEs through partnerships with the private sector and various departments and agencies.
• CAPE TOWN – 18 APR 2022 (18H00) Western Cape Human Settlements Members of Executive Council (MEC) Tertius Simmers has officially been elected Democratic Alliance (DA) interim provincial leader. Simmers has been acting as interim leader since the resignation of former provincial leader Albert Fritz. DA Western Cape Provincial Chairperson Jaco Londt stated that Simmers was the only nominee for the position. This follows after Fritz resigned due to allegations of sexual misconduct.
