• EAST LONDON – 18 MAY 2022 (09H10) The ActionSA Provincial Chairperson, Athol Trollip, is expected to lead the official Provincial launch of ActionSA on Saturday, 04 June 2022, from 10H00 in the Buffalo City Metropolitan. ActionSA President Herman Mashaba is expected to address during the launch.
• PORT ELIZABETH/GQEBERHA – 18 MAY 2022 (16H45) UPDATE Police have dispersed the demonstrators on Gail Road near Malabar. A local ward councillor has addressed the demonstrators. Motorists are advised to remain vigilant. (09H50) Protest reported on Gail Road. The demonstrators are protesting due to poor service delivery. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with rocks and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.

SOUTH AFRICA – FREE STATE – 18 MAY 2022
• PHUTHADITJHABA – 18 MAY 2022 (15H30) Students from the University of the Free State (UFS) are expected to appear before the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate Court today, 18 May 2022, and Thursday, 19 May 2022, following violent protests at the Qwaqwa campus. The 12 suspects were arrested between Monday, 16 May and Tuesday, 17 May 2022. This follows after the UFS students barricaded roads and threw Police with stones outside the campus. The students have been protesting due to unpaid private accommodation allowances by the university.

• SOWETO – 18 MAY 2022 (09H30) UPDATE Reports indicate the two queue marshals and a passenger have been shot and injured. (08H15) Shooting reported on Moroka Nancefield Road in the vicinity of Nancefield Hostel in Klipspruit. The road has been closed for traffic. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use Chris Hani Road and Sofasonke Street as alternative routes. Police are on the scene.
• JOHANNESBURG – 18 MAY 2022 (10H45) The Government has announced that it has secured 20 million litres of jet fuel for OR Tambo International Airport. The consignment is expected to arrive at the National Petroleum Refiners of South Africa on Friday, 20 May 2022, with the first batch expected to arrive at the airport on Friday, 27 May 2022. It will add to the 16 million litres transported weekly to the airport via the dedicated Transnet Jet Fuel Pipeline. The Central Energy Fund will also send an additional 1.5 million litres on Wednesday, 25 May.
• JOHANNESBURG – 18 MAY 2022 (12H50) Protest reported outside Palm Ridge Magistrates Court. The demonstrators are protesting in demand of justice for Sechaba Rakoloti. The demonstrators have obstructed the area. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police are on the scene.
• JOHANNESBURG – 18 MAY 2022 (13H15) Protest reported at the Netcare Milpark Hospital. The demonstrators are protesting against King Mswati, the third’s family members who are there for their routine medical check-ups. The demonstrators have blockaded the area. • ALEXANDRA – 18 MAY 2022 (16H30) UPDATE Demonstrators have dispersed at the East Bank High School in Alexandra. Gauteng Education Spokesperson Steve Mabona stated that they are aware of the challenges at the school and are waiting for a full report. (12H40) Protest reported outside East Bank High School. Learners are protesting over the lack of quality learning and teaching and poor sanitation at the school. The demonstrators have disrupted classes at the school and obstructed the entrance of the school. Members of the public are advised to be vigilant. Police have been dispatched.
• TSHWANE/ PRETORIA – 18 MAY 2022 (17H00) The City of Tshwane announced that the energy and electricity teams that had suspended operations in Mamelodi East due to intimidation had resumed duties today, 18 May 2022. The City of Tshwane held a meeting with local Ward Councillors who engaged with community members to desist from interfering with operational teams. The community held the energy and electricity teams hostage and forced them to disconnect electricity at Nellmapius Extension 22 and 24. The electricity teams complied with the community for safety reasons. This follows after Mamelodi Substation tripped after loadshedding due to overload on the grid.
• SOWETO – 18 MAY 2022 (18H00) Protest reported on Chris Hani Road/ M68 between Abu Baker Asvat Drive and Midway Street near Protea Gardens Mall. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched to the scene.
• VANDERBIJLPARK – 18 MAY 2022 (18H00) Protest reported on Hertz Boulevard at Sasol Petrol Station. The demonstrators have blockaded the road towards ArcelorMittal South Africa. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Police are on the scene.

• LOUWSBURG – 18 MAY 2022 (07H10) Protest reported on the R69 in the vicinity of Enhlangwini Primary School. The demonstrators are protesting due to poor service delivery. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.
• ESCOURT – 18 MAY 2022 (07H50) UPDATE Looting reported on the N3. Residents and motorists are looting a truck following an accident on the N3 highway. (06H50) Road closure on the N3 Tugela River Bridge between Estcourt and Tugela Plaza due to four heavy motor vehicles. Reports indicate that two trucks are on fire. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Emergency services have been dispatched.
• ESHOWE – 18 MAY 2022 (09H40) UPDATE Road closure reported on the R102 between KwaGingindlovu and Mtunzini, Emoyeni, Masundwini and Delville due to ongoing protests. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. (05H55) Protest reported on the R66 between Eshowe and KwaGingindlovu. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. The demonstrators are protesting due to poor service delivery. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.
• STANGER/ KWADUKUZA – 18 MAY 2022 (15H40) UPDATE One victim has been fatally shot, and two others have been injured in a targeted shooting. The victims were seated in a vehicle when the suspects opened fire. Chief Albert Luthuli Street remain closed to traffic. Police have launched an investigation into the matter. (13H40) Shooting reported on Mahatma Gandhi Street and Chief Albert Luthuli Street intersection in KwaDukuza. The intersection is closed to motorists. The suspects fled the scene on the N2, heading towards Durban. Police are on the scene.

• ALLDAYS – 18 MAY 2022 (07H30) Protest reported at the intersection of R521 and R572. Previous demonstrations have been related to the demands of employment and business opportunities. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.
• PHALABORWA – 18 MAY 2022 (09H00) Protest expected by community members of Phalaborwa today, 18 May 2022, at the Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality. The demonstrators are expected to gather on Lekkerbreek Street in the vicinity of Molenaar Attorneys from 12H00 and march to the Municipality from 13H00. The demonstrators are expected to protest against poor service delivery. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police will be deployed to monitor the area.
• MUSINA – 18 MAY 2022 (15H15) Executive Mayor of the Vhembe District Municipality Anderson Mudunungu announced that the water service authority is handed over to Musina Local Municipality. However, the municipality still requires approval from various stockholders, including Water and Sanitation Minister Senzo Mchunu. The Minister is expected to visit the Vhembe District within the coming days. The transfer of responsibilities to the Musina municipality will ensure a faster turnaround time in responding to water issues faced by communities. This follows after the recent water-related protests leading to road closures and disruption of business operations and schooling

• STANDERTON – 18 MAY 2022 (12H10) Protest reported outside the Standerton Specialized Tuberculosis (TB) Hospital. The National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union (NEHAWU) are protesting to demand decent working conditions at the workplace. The demonstrators have obstructed the entrance of the hospital. Members of the public are advised to be vigilant. Police have been dispatched.

• MOOINOOI – 18 MAY 2022 (11H20) Protest expected by the members of the N4 Cluster Movement on Thursday, 19 May 2022, from 06H30 until 17H00. The demonstrators are expected to march in a motorcade on the N4 between Majakaneng and Mooinooi. The demonstrators are expected to protest against labour and employment matters between the movement and Sibanye Stillwater. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. • HARTBEESFONTEIN – 18 MAY 2022 (12H30) UPDATE Police have dispersed demonstrations. The R503 route has been reopened for traffic. The situation remains volatile. • VENTERSDORP – 18 MAY 2022 (15H50) UPDATE Road closure reported at the N14 and R30 intersection in Ventersdorp. The road is closed due to an ongoing protest. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. (14H00) Peaceful protest reported at the JB Mark Municipality in Ventersdorp. The Ventersdorp Anti-Amalgamation Steering Committee is expected to hand over a memorandum of demands to the Municipal Management. The demonstrators are calling for the demerging of Ventersdorp and the Potchefstroom municipality, previously named Tlokwe Municipality. Motorists are advised to be vigilant. • KAKAMAS – 18 MAY 2022 (06H15) The Provincial Government, in partnership with Raisins SA, will officially launch the Vine Academy and Model Farm at Martin Oosthuizen High School in Kakamas on Thursday, 19 May 2022. This follows after a Memorandum of Understanding that was signed between the Northern Cape Department of Education, Raisin SA and the Martin Oosthuizen High School aimed at addressing specific challenges faced by the industry, low production skills levels, employment equity, scarce and critical skills, black economic empowerment and the quality of skills delivery.
