SOUTH AFRICA – EASTERN CAPE – 19 APR 2022
• TARKASTAD – 19 APR 2022 (07H45) The African National Congress (ANC) in the Chris Hani region is expected to hold the Siyabonga Rally today, 19 April 2022, at the Zola Sports Stadium from 14H00. The ANC members are also expected to hold a political briefing from 10H30 at the Zola Hall, followed by a door-to-door campaign at 11H00 in Tarkastad before proceeding to the stadium. The ANC Provincial Convener, Oscar Mabuyane, and the Regional Chairperson, Wongama Gela, are expected to address during the rally. Members of the public are advised to be vigilant.

SOUTH AFRICA – FREE STATE – 19 APR 2022
• HARRISMITH – 18 APR 2022 (20H45) Six suspects are expected to appear in the Harrismith Magistrate Court on Tuesday, 19 April 2022, on charges of cable theft and illegal immigration. Police have arrested the suspects at Makgolokweng Village outside Harrismith on Wednesday, 13 April 2022. Police responded to information provided by community members. The Police discovered that the suspect did not have documentation allowing them in South Africa and that they were in possession of copper cables. The Police seized a total of 44 copper cable rolls valued at R1-million and two vehicles.

SOUTH AFRICA – GAUTENG – 19 APR 2022
• SOWETO – 18 APR 2022 (20H15) Clashes have been reported at a poultry farm in Kliptown between Operation Dudula members and residents of an informal settlement in Soweto today, 18 April 2022. One person has been fatally shot, and one other person has been injured during the altercation. Members of Operation Dudula members have been marching to the informal settlement raising concerns about cable theft by residents. A case has been opened at the Kliptown Police Station.
• TSHWANE/ PRETORIA – 18 April 2022 (21H07) President Cyril Ramaphosa has begun to address the nation. (20H00) President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to address the nation at 21H00. The time has been adjusted. (15H45) President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to address the nation at 20H00 today, 18 April 2022. The President is expected to discuss the Government’s response to the floods in KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape. The address follows a special Cabinet meeting on Sunday, 17 April 2022, where the Government assessed the social and economic aftermath of flooding in the two provinces and work underway to provide relief and rebuild.
• JOHANNESBURG – 18 APR 2022 (22H30) Demonstrations are expected to be held at Amic Deck on Thursday, 21 April 2022, at approximately 16H30. Members are expected to engage in flag demonstrations in support of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Palestine. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
• TSHWANE/PRETORIA – 18 APR 2022 (23H40) President Cyril Ramaphosa has addressed the nation regarding the recent adverse weather in South Africa (SA). Ramaphosa declared Kwazulu-Natal a provincial disaster area. Additionally, SA has been under a National Disaster Condition. Ramaphosa noted that the floods caused damages valued at approximately R1 billion, including 1600 Durban roads. The country is expected to approach the Disaster Conditions in phases. First, the Government is set to provide humanitarian aid. Second, the Government is expected to increase service deliveries. Third, the country is expected to repair infrastructure. Furthermore, The Government is expected to provide housing for the affected civilians within several days. The National Government is set to provide R1 billion for infrastructural repairs and others. The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SASSA) is set to increase the auxiliary allowance from R700 to an estimated R1,980 for civilians who lost all their belongings during the floods. Avbob allegedly provided R7 million and additional funeral coverage valued at approximately R20,000 for affected members. Patrice Motsepe has allegedly provided R30 million towards the flood relief fund. The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) is expected to assist with service deliveries and repair operations. The parliament is expected to set apart repair operations on Tuesday, 19 April 2022.
• JOHANNESBURG – 19 APR 2022 (00H10) Gauteng Provincial Government has announced the passing of Acting Director-General Thabo Masebe. Masebe has worked in the Presidency as former Deputy President, Kgalema Motlanthe’s Spokesperson. Following this, he was appointed as the Head of Communications in the Gauteng Provincial Government. The Government is expected to nominate a successor.
• BOKSBURG – 19 APR 2022 (06H20) Protest expected by the community members of Dawn Park today, 19 April 2022, from 17H00. The demonstrators are expected to gather on the corner of Sable Street and West Central Street and march to Sunward Park High School. The demonstrators are expected to protest against poor service delivery related to power outages and infrastructure. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police will be deployed to monitor the area.
• SANDTON – 19 APR 2022 (08H20) Eskom has announced that stage 4 load shedding will be implemented from today, 19 April 2022. Eskom stated that the implementation of stage 4 followed after Majuba Unit 5 and Tutuka Unit 4 tripped.
• JOHANNESBURG – 19 APR 2022 (08H00) Fire reported on Claim Street in Hillbrow. Reports indicate that a building has caught fire. The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage. Members of the public are advised to avoid the area. Emergency services have been dispatched.

SOUTH AFRICA – KWAZULU-NATAL – 19 APR 2022
• DURBAN – 18 APR 2022 (19H40) UPDATE Quarry Road near the M19 intersection has been reopened to traffic after being assessed by an engineer. The engineer stated that the bridge is safe for motorists. Motorists are advised to remain vigilant. (15H45) Road closure reported on Quarry Road near the M19 intersection. The Quarry Road bridge is damaged and is expected to collapse. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Emergency services are on the scene.
• DURBAN – 18 APR 2022 (21H05) UPDATE The Link Road/ Shallcross Road has been reopened to traffic. Motorists are advised to remain vigilant. Police are monitoring the situation. (19H50) Residents from the Bottlebrush Informal Settlement are barricading Link Road/ Shallcross Road in the Shallcross area. Chatsworth Police and Public Order Policing Unit are in attendance. (18H40) Protest reported on Shallcross Road near the Ridge Shopping Centre. Demonstrators are barricading the road with burning tyres. Residents are protesting due to power and water outages. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched to the scene.
• DURBAN – 18 APR 2022 (22H05) Justice Minister Ronald Lamola noted that the African National Congress (ANC) leaders are expected to seek inconsistencies in the step-aside rule. The rule requires members charged with serious criminal offences to vacate their positions in the Government and political parties. This follows after the elected ANC eThekwini Chairperson Zandile Gumede stepped aside due to her corruption charges. In addition to the expected conference set for December.
• GOLELA – 19 APR 2022 (06H05) Protest expected by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) today, 19 April 2022, from 10H00 at the Golela Border Post. Demonstrators are expected to protest in demand for democratic reforms and the release of political prisoners in eSwatini. Motorists are advised of potential ground travel disruptions during the demonstration. Police are expected to be deployed in the area during the event.
• KWAMASHU – 19 APR 2022 (06H45) Protest reported at the intersection of Malendela Road and Queen Nandi Drive. The demonstrators are protesting due to poor service delivery. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.
• TONGAAT – 19 APR 2022 (09H30) Protest reported on Genazzano Road towards the M4. Residents of Seatides informal settlement are protesting due to poor service delivery. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the scene and use alternative routes. Police are on the scene.

SOUTH AFRICA – LIMPOPO – 19 APR 2022
• PIETERSBURG/POLOKWANE – 19 APR 2022 (08H40) The Seshego magistrate’s court is expected to hand down the court trial date of Themba Prince Willard Dube, who is accused of kidnapping and murdering seven women, on Tuesday, 26 April 2022. The case will then be moved to the Polokwane High Court to begin the trial.

SOUTH AFRICA – MPUMALANGA – 19 APR 2022
• MANANGA – 19 APR 2022 (06H00) Protest expected at the Mananga border post between Lubombo, eSwatini and Mpumalanga, South Africa, from 09H00 on today, 19 April 2022, by members of the Economic Freedom Fighters of Swaziland (EFFSWA). Demonstrators are expected to protest in demand for democratic reforms and the release of political prisoners in eSwatini. Motorists are advised of potential ground travel disruptions during the demonstration. Authorities are expected to be deployed in the area during the event.

• DEELPAN – 18 APR 2022 (19H55) Protest reported on P183-1 near Deelpan. Demonstrators are barricading the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes and avoid the area. Police have been dispatched to the scene.
• POTCHEFSTROOM – 18 APR 2022 (20H30) The National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union (NEHAWU) is calling for an immediate investigation into a shooting that occurred at the Witrand Hospital protest on 07 April 2022. The union has requested information on who called the Police and instructed the officers to shoot rubber bullets at the crowd. The union has given Commissioner Sello Kwena until Wednesday, 20 April 2022, to respond to the letter NEHAWU has submitted.

SOUTH AFRICA – NORTHERN CAPE – 19 APR 2022
• STRYDENBURG – 19 APR 2022 (09H15) The Strydenburg community members have announced plans to protest at the Strydenburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 20 April 2022. This follows after the community postponed their planned march on Wednesday, 13 April 2022. The community is expected to protest to demand justice for Natasha Goeieman, who was killed by Anthony Harris Samson. The community also demands the accused be denied bail. Members of the public are advised to be vigilant during the protest. Police will be deployed to monitor the area.

SOUTH AFRICA – WESTERN CAPE – 19 APR 2022
• CAPE TOWN – 19 APR 2022 (06H15) Peaceful protest expected at Kromboom Bridge today, 19 April 2022, from 17H00. Demonstrators are expected to protest in solidarity with the Palestinians. The demonstrators are expected to disperse from 18H00. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police will be deployed to monitor the area.
