• BENSONVALE – 27 APR 2022 (06H00) The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is expected to hold its EFF Freedom Day Rally on Wednesday, 27 April 2022, from 14H00. The rally is expected to be held at the Bensonvale College Hall.
• UGIE – 27 APR 2022 (08H30) Premier Oscar Mabuyane is expected to deliver a keynote address at the Freedom Day commemoration event today, 27 April 2022, from 10H00 at the Entokozweni Stadium. The event is expected to be held under the theme, Consolidate our Democratic Gains, to mark the country’s transition from the oppressive apartheid regime to a free democratic country.

• BLOEMFONTEIN – 26 APR 2022 (22H20) Free State Police, Roads and Transport Member of Executive Committee (MEC) William Bulwane has officially closed a collapsed low-level bridge in Glen outside Bloemfontein. The closure aims to allow the launch of reconstruction efforts. The bridge recently collapsed during floods in the area. This follows after local residents requested assistance and immediate intervention from the provincial Government. The MEC has subsequently conducted an inspection visit of the bridge, stating that efforts are underway to ensure the reconstruction of the bridge.
• BOTHAVILLE – 27 APR 2022 (06H20) The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) is expected to hold its Freedom Day Rally on Wednesday, 27 April 2022, from 10H00. The rally is expected to be held at the Boneni Hall under the theme Going back to Basics.
• FRANKFORT – 27 APR 2022 (07H10) The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is expected to hold its EFF Freedom Day Rally today, 27 April 2022, from 09H00. The rally is expected to be held at the Namahadi Community Service Centre.
• BLOEMFONTEIN – 27 APR 2022 (07H40) Protest expected by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) today, 27 April 2022, from 10H00. The EFF members are expected to gather at the Freedom Square Park and march to the Municipality offices. The demonstrators are expected to protest over service delivery. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police will be deployed to monitor the area.

• SOWETO – 26 APR 2022 (18H45) Cash in transit (CIT) robbery reported on Nicholas Street in Orlando East. The road is closed to traffic. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Police have been dispatched to the scene.
• BENONI – 26 APR 2022 (19H20) Explosion reported at the substation in Actonville, Benoni. The fire department has been dispatched to the scene. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Areas that are experiencing power outages include Benoni Central Business District, Farrarmere, Lakefield, Alphen Park, Rynsoord, Mackenzie Park Northmead and Airfield.
• JOHANNESBURG – 26 APR 2022 (20H30) The African National Congress (ANC) Treasurer General Paul Mashhatile is expected to conduct a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting media briefing on Thursday, 28 April 2022, at 11H00. The briefing follows a two sat special sessions of the NEC, which took place from Sunday, 24 April, until Monday, 25 April 2022.
• JOHANNESBURG – 26 APR 2022 (23H40) The City of Johannesburg Council has approved the implementation of the Informal Trading Policy. The policy, which has been in draft since 2018, has been endorsed by the Economic Development Section 79 Oversight Committee to be tabled at the ordinary sitting of the Council. The policy has since been adopted into law, allowing for the establishment of an organised informal trade sector within the City. The policy provides for informal traders to be represented across various City structures in the decision-making process through the Informal Trading Stakeholder Committee. In addition, the policy provides for an effective and streamlined application process that is expected to utilise modernised technology, which is in line with the Multi-Party Government’s Mayoral priority of a Smart City.
• JOHANNESBURG – 26 APR 2022 (23H30) The South African Petroleum Industry Association (SAPIA) has announced that jet fuel shortages are being experienced at the OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. This follows after the transportation of the product had been affected by flood damage to railway lines. The SAPIA has confirmed that jet fuel reserves at the OR Tambo International Airport are low but not critical. The Association has further noted that there is an adequate amount of jet fuel to meet current demand. However, delayed rail deliveries as a result of the flood damage are expected to lead to a supply deficit in the following days. SAPIA and its members are evaluating alternative options to ensure jet fuel supply to OR Tambo International Airport and mitigate the risk of stock shortages. Supply to all other airports across the country currently remains constant.
• TSHWANE/PRETORIA – 27 APR 2022 (09H20) The Commander in Chief (CIC), Julius Malema, of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), is expected to address the EFF Freedom Day Rally today, 27 April 2022, from 11H00 at the Moretele View Park in Mamelodi.

• PORT EDWARD – 26 APR 2022 (19H45) Cash in transit (CIT) robbery reported between Mzamba and Wild Coast outside Port Edward. The road is closed to traffic. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Police have been dispatched to the scene.
• DURBAN – 26 APR 2022 (19H00) Targeted murder reported on the M7 in the Rossburgh area south of Durban. One person has been shot and killed in a drive-by shooting. The victim is found seated in his vehicle. The motive for the murder is unknown at this stage. Police are investigating the matter.
• DURBAN – 27 APR 2022 (04H40) Protest reported on the N2 Northbound approaching the M4 offramp in the vicinity of Umlazi, Durban. Community members have barricaded the roadway in protest against service delivery related issues in the area. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Authorities are aware of the situation.
• DURBAN – 27 APR 2022 (08H50) UPDATE Police have dispersed demonstrations. The N2 Northbound approaching the M4 offramp route has been reopened for traffic flow. The situation remains volatile. Motorists are advised to be vigilant. Police are monitoring the area. (04H40) Protest reported on the N2 Northbound approaching the M4 offramp in the vicinity of Umlazi, Durban. Community members have barricaded the roadway in protest against service delivery related issues in the area. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Authorities are aware of the situation.

SOUTH AFRICA – LIMPOPO – 27 APR 2022
• MUSINA – 26 APR 2022 (21H50) The Vhembe District Municipality has announced that efforts are underway to address the current water supply challenges affecting residents in Musina and surrounding communities. This follows after borehole pumps in the area had been damaged during the recent overflowing of the Limpopo river, further deteriorating the water situation. Residents in the local town and surrounding areas rely on boreholes as a primary water source. In addition, further challenges are being experienced regarding the water tankering services, with several residents reporting delays in the delivery of water. The Municipality has stated that discussions are underway to resolve the matter.
• MUSWODI – 27 APR 2022 (06H30) The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is expected to hold its EFF Freedom Day Rally today, 27 April 2022, from 10H00. The rally is expected to be held at the Muswodi Community Hall.

SOUTH AFRICA – MPUMALANGA – 27 APR 2022
• MALELANE – 27 APR 2022 (00H40) Road closure reported on the N4 highway between Malelane and Hectorspruit. The road has been closed to motorists to allow recovery operations following a heavy motor vehicle accident involving a truck. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes for the duration of the road closure. Authorities and emergency services are on the scene.
• MIDDELBURG – 27 APR 2022 (06H50) UPDATE Road closures expected in the vicinity of Taljaard Stadium ahead of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s visit. The following roads will be affected, Doctor Beyers Naude Street, Protea Road and Lillian Ngoyi Street. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police are expected to monitor the area. • RUSTENBURG – 26 APR 2022 (22H00) The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) is expected to launch a National Workers Day Rally at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Phokeng, Rustenburg, on 01 May 2022. During the event, participants are expected to hold a demonstration in demand of several issues, including additional employment opportunities, the implementation of a living wage in all sectors, the security of collective bargaining and workers’ rights, as well as an end to mass retrenchments, among others.
• RUSTENBURG – 27 APR 2022 (06H05) Unrest expected at the Olympia Park Stadium by Operation Dudula members today, 27 April 2022, from 09H00. Demonstrators will be protesting against the illegalities of narcotics and substance abuse, illegal immigration and the marginalising of South African informal business sectors. Demonstrators are demanding the employment of South Africans first. Motorists are advised to avoid the area during the gathering. Police are aware of the situation.
• MAHIKENG – 27 APR 2022 (07H00) The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is expected to hold its Freedom Day Rally today, 27 April 2022, from 10H00. The rally is expected to take place in Ward 5 open field near Magogoe.

• DANIELSKUIL – 26 APR 2022 (21H00) Road closure reported on the R31 between Danielskuil and Barkley West. The road is closed due to a motor vehicle accident. Three vehicles are involved in the accident. Three casualties have been reported. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Emergency services are on the scene.
