• BENSONVALE – 27 APR 2022 (06H00) The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is expected to hold its EFF Freedom Day Rally on Wednesday, 27 April 2022, from 14H00. The rally is expected to be held at the Bensonvale College Hall.
• UGIE – 27 APR 2022 (08H30) Premier Oscar Mabuyane is expected to deliver a keynote address at the Freedom Day commemoration event today, 27 April 2022, from 10H00 at the Entokozweni Stadium. The event is expected to be held under the theme, Consolidate our Democratic Gains, to mark the country’s transition from the oppressive apartheid regime to a free democratic country.

• BOTHAVILLE – 27 APR 2022 (06H20) The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) is expected to hold its Freedom Day Rally on Wednesday, 27 April 2022, from 10H00. The rally is expected to be held at the Boneni Hall under the theme Going back to Basics.
• FRANKFORT – 27 APR 2022 (07H10) The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is expected to hold its EFF Freedom Day Rally today, 27 April 2022, from 09H00. The rally is expected to be held at the Namahadi Community Service Centre.
• PHUTHADITJABA – 27 APR 2022 (07H40) Protest expected by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) today, 27 April 2022, from 10H00. The EFF members are expected to gather at the Freedom Square Park and march to the Municipality offices. The demonstrators are expected to protest over service delivery. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police will be deployed to monitor the area.
• BLOEMFONTEIN – 27 APR 2022 (15H25) The Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality announced that it will pay outstanding salaries on Friday, 29 April 2022. The Municipal management held a meeting with the Acting City Manager (ACM) Tebogo Motlashuping and labour representatives on Tuesday, 26 April 2022. This follows after municipal workers protested due to the non-payment of salaries on Tuesday.

• TSHWANE/PRETORIA – 27 APR 2022 (09H20) The Commander in Chief (CIC), Julius Malema, of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), is expected to address the EFF Freedom Day Rally today, 27 April 2022, from 11H00 at the Moretele View Park in Mamelodi.
• MIDRAND – 27 APR 2022 (12H35) Minister of Transport, Fikile Mabalula, is expected to provide an update on the deadline for the extension of the Driving Licence Card validity, today, 27 April 2022, from 14H00 at the Licensing Department.
• SOWETO – 27 APR 2022 (12H40) Police Minister, Bheki Cele, is expected to lead a Ministerial Street Imbizo on Thursday, 28 April 2022, from 10H00 at the Pimville Community Centre. Cele, along with the National and Provincial management of the South African Police Service (SAPS), will engage the community of Pimville and surrounding areas to find lasting solutions to their crime concerns. The Ministerial Street Imbizo seeks to provide residents with a platform to discuss and engage the SAPS on identified crimes plaguing the community and promote and improve relations between police and the community.
• SOWETO – 27 APR 2022 (15H40) Residents in Kliptown have recovered stolen electricity cables. The residents stated that they had been without electricity for 14 consecutive days. This follows after community protest actions in Pimville and Eldorado Park due to power outages.
• JOHANNESBURG – 27 APR 2022 (17H40) Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula held a meeting with relevant stakeholders to discuss measures in place to address the jet fuel shortage experienced at OR Tambo International Airport. The stakeholders include the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, the Airport Company South African (ACSA), the Department of Transport and Mineral Resources and Energy. The shortage is due to the recent floods in KwaZulu-Natal that affected transport infrastructure and disrupted supply chains. The jet fuel supply to OR Tambo International Airport has been stabilised.

SOUTH AFRICA – KWAZULU-NATAL – 27 APR 2022
• DURBAN – 27 APR 2022 (08H50) UPDATE Police have dispersed demonstrations. The N2 Northbound approaching the M4 offramp route has been reopened for traffic flow. The situation remains volatile. Motorists are advised to be vigilant. Police are monitoring the area. (04H40) Protest reported on the N2 Northbound approaching the M4 offramp in the vicinity of Umlazi, Durban. Community members have barricaded the roadway in protest against service delivery related issues in the area. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Authorities are aware of the situation.
• UMGABABA – 27 APR 2022 (17H40) UPDATE Police have dispersed demonstrators on the N2. The road is open to traffic. Residents have been protesting due to water and electricity outages in the area. (14H00) Protest reported on the N2 in Umgababa. The road that traffic reroutes due to flooding damage is blocked off and barricaded. The demonstrators are protesting due to poor service delivery. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched to the scene.

• MUSWODI – 27 APR 2022 (06H30) The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is expected to hold its EFF Freedom Day Rally today, 27 April 2022, from 10H00. The rally is expected to be held at the Muswodi Community Hall.
• GIYANI – 27 APR 2022 (16H00) The office of the Public Protector is investigating the alleged irregular appointment of firefighters at the Mopani District Municipality in 2020. The office received a complaint from an anonymous person against the district municipality, claiming that more people than initially advertised were hired and that some recruits have close relations with the local councillors and officials. The municipality has been given until 06 May 2022 to respond to the issues raised in a letter from the Public Protector.

SOUTH AFRICA – MPUMALANGA – 27 APR 2022
• MALELANE – 27 APR 2022 (00H40) Road closure reported on the N4 highway between Malelane and Hectorspruit. The road has been closed to motorists to allow recovery operations following a heavy motor vehicle accident involving a truck. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes for the duration of the road closure. Authorities and emergency services are on the scene.
• MIDDELBURG – 27 APR 2022 (06H50) UPDATE Road closures expected in the vicinity of Taljiaard Stadium ahead of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s visit. The following roads will be affected, Doctor Beyers Naude Street, Protea Road and Lillian Ngoyi Street. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police are expected to monitor the area. • SABIE – 27 APR 2022 (16H20) Peaceful protest reported on Main Road/ R532 in Sabie. Community members are protesting due to poor service delivery in the area. Demonstrators are demanding to be addressed by President Cyril Ramaphosa. The demonstrators held a meeting on the road. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.

• MAHIKENG – 27 APR 2022 (07H00) The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is expected to hold its Freedom Day Rally today, 27 April 2022, from 10H00. The rally is expected to take place in Ward 5 open field near Magogoe.
• HARTBEESPOORT – 27 APR 2022 (11H20) Road closure reported on the R512 due to a Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA). Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Emergency services are on the scene.
• ATAMELANG – 27 APR 2022 (12H25) The Atamelang Regional Court has postponed that case against the Former Ratlou Local Municipality Acting Municipal Manager, Cassius Sejake, to Friday, 20 May 2022, for legal consultation. Sejake was arrested in September 2020 on charges related to the contravention of Section 173 of the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) after allegedly flouting tender processes to the value of R7.8 million between 2018 and 2019.
• RUSTENBURG – 27 APR 2022 (14H55) UPDATE Operation Dudula members have arrived at the local bus station. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. (14H25) Operation Dudula members are marching to the local bus station in Rustenburg. The demonstrators have given the Mayor 7 days to respond to their memorandum of demands. (13H40) The Acting Rustenburg Local Municipality Mayor, Lebogang Pule, has accepted a memorandum of demands from members of Operation Dudula at Olympia Stadium. (12H10) Leader of Operation Dudula, Nhlanhla Lux Dlamini, had arrived at the Olympia Stadium. (11H25) Members of Operation Dudula have started gathering ahead of the launch. (06H05) Unrest expected at the Olympia Park Stadium by Operation Dudula members today, 27 April 2022, from 09H00. Demonstrators will be protesting against the illegalities of narcotics and substance abuse, illegal immigration and the marginalising of South African informal business sectors. Demonstrators are demanding the employment of South Africans first. Motorists are advised to avoid the area during the gathering. Police are aware of the situation.

• KIMBERLEY – 27 APR 2022 (08H00) The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) are expected to hold its Freedom Day Rally today, 27 April 2022, from 10H00. The event is expected to be held at the Galeshewe Recreational Hall under the theme, Remembering the Political Freedom Fighters’ struggle towards Economic freedom in our lifetime.
• KIMBERLEY – 27 APR 2022 (15H50) Residents of Galeshewe informal settlement have raised concerns about an increase in crime in the area. Residents stated that crime has increased since the community anti-crime group stopped operating. The group suspended operations in the area after a foreign national was allegedly killed during one of their operations. Residents are calling for increased Police visibility in the area and a strong criminal justice system.

• MALMESBURY – 27 APR 2022 (07H15) The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is expected to hold its EFF Freedom Day Rally on Wednesday, 27 April 2022, from 14H00. The rally is expected to be held at the Lehana Hall Ilingelethu.
• CAPE TOWN – 27 APR 2022 (18H00) UPDATE The demonstration at Redhill informal settlement has caused vegetation to catch fire. The Fire Department and helicopter have been dispatched to the scene. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Police are on the scene. (12H55) Protest reported on Redhill Road in the vicinity of Redhill Camp in Simon’s Town. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.
