SOUTH AFRICA – EASTERN CAPE – 28 APR 2022
• KIRKWOOD – 27 APR 2022 (20H30) Police remain on high alert after a farmhouse and vehicle have been set alight in Kirkwood. The situation remain volatile. Police deployment have been increase and 38 cases have been registered. The cases include public violence, malicious injury to properties, assault, and one murder case. Police have arrested one person and other arrests are possible as investigations continue.

SOUTH AFRICA – FREE STATE – 28 APR 2022
• FOURIESBURG – 27 APR 2022 (20H00) The Fouriesburg Magistrate’s Court has postponed the fraud case of former Dihlabeng Local Municipality Klerk, Heleen Kapp, to Friday, 29 April 2022. Kapp is facing charges of fraud, theft and money laundering after allegedly stealing R190,000 from the municipality. Kapp was arrested on Tuesday, 26 April 2022, by the Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation team.

SOUTH AFRICA – GAUTENG – 28 APR 2022
• JOHANNESBURG – 27 APR 2022 (19H20) Parliament has approached the Constitutional Court to request a six-month extension to amend the Electoral Act, which will allow independent candidates to stand as Members of Parliament (MP) and Member of the Provincial Legislature (MPL). The current deadline for Parliament to amend the Electoral Act is 10 June 2022. The New Nation Movement approached the Constitutional Court two years ago in an effort to have the Electoral Act declared unconstitutional as candidates cannot stand as lawmakers in the National Assembly and Provincial Legislatures. However, the National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula and National Council of Provinces Chairperson Amos Masondo have raised concern that the required public participation process has not been followed. The Bill was presented in January 2022, leaving Parliament with five months to meet the deadline.
• KRUGERSDORP – 27 APR 2022 (19H30) The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) and the South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) are expected to march to Coronation Park on Thursday, 28 April 2022, at 09H00. Demonstrators will be protesting against wage gaps. Motorists are advised to be vigilant. Police will be dispatched.
• TSHWANE/PRETORIA – 28 APR 2022 (06H00) President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to host the President of Guinea Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, on a State Visit to Pretoria today, 28 April 2022, from 08H30. This visit by President Embaló will provide an opportunity for South Africa and Guinea Bissau to strengthen bilateral, political, and socio-economic relations. The visit will also be a platform to reinvigorate several bilateral agreements that require closer implementation.
• SOWETO – 28 APR 2022 (06H05) Police Minister, Bheki Cele, is expected to lead a Ministerial Street Imbizo today, 28 April 2022, from 10H00 at the Pimville Community Centre. Cele, along with the National and Provincial management of the South African Police Service (SAPS), will engage the community of Pimville and surrounding areas to find lasting solutions to their crime concerns. The Ministerial Street Imbizo seeks to provide residents with a platform to discuss and engage the SAPS on identified crimes plaguing the community and promote and improve relations between police and the community.
• KRUGERSDORP – 28 APR 2022 (07H00) Protest expected by members affiliated with the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) and the South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) today, 28 April 2022, from 09H00 at the Coronation Park. The demonstrators are expected to protest to demand wage gap payments. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police will be deployed to monitor the area.
• KRUGERSDORP – 28 APR 2022 (08H15) Protest reported at the Krugersdorp License Department. The demonstrators have blockaded the area with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.

SOUTH AFRICA – KWAZULU-NATAL – 28 APR 2022
• QUEENSBURGH – 28 APR 2022 (05H50) Protest reported on Burlington Drive and Shallcross Road in Shallcross. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. Previous demonstrators have been related to poor service delivery. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.
• PINETOWN – 28 APR 2022 (07H20) Protest reported on Hansdettman Highway and Wiltshire Road in the vicinity of Clover. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.

SOUTH AFRICA – LIMPOPO – 28 APR 2022
• MODJADJISKLOOF – 27 APR 2022 (22H35) Truck hijacking reported on the R36 in Modjadjiskloof, Limpopo. Reports indicate that a white Volvo truck and two trailers have been hijacked. Authorities are on the lookout for the truck.
• LEBOWAKGOMO – 28 APR 2022 (09H30) Protest expected by the Defender of the People (DOP) members at the Pick n Pay Store from 11H00. The demonstrators are expected to protest against sexual assault and other complaints from employees working at Lebowakgomo Mall. The demonstrators are expected to hand over a memorandum of demands to the Management. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police will be deployed to monitor the area.

SOUTH AFRICA – MPUMALANGA – 28 APR 2022
• MBOMBELA/ NELSPRUIT – 27 APR 2022 (20H15) The Mpumalanga High Court is expected to resume the treason case against Harry Knoesen on Thursday, 28 April 2022. The accused also face charges of incitement to carry out terrorist attacks in South Africa, soliciting support, recruiting persons to carry out terrorist attacks in South Africa, and the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. Knoesen was charged along with Errol and Eric Abrams who had pleaded guilty to the charges and were jailed for an effective eight years for their role in the terror plot. The State alleges that he had recruited people to join the National Christian Resistance Movement, also known as the Crusaders, and appointed himself as Commander-in-Chief.
• MARITE – 28 APR 2022 (06H40) Protest reported on the R40 between Marite and Bushbuckridge. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. The demonstrators are protesting due to poor service delivery. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.
• KAMAQHEKEZA – 28 APR 2022 (07H15) UPDATE Demonstrations reported at the intersection of Mananga Road and the R571. The Malelane taxi association demand the Government to fix road infrastructure in the area. (06H20) Protest expected in Nkomazi South today, 28 April 2022. The demonstrators are expected to protest due to poor service delivery. All roads in Nkomazi, which include the R570 and R571 towards the N4, are expected to be blocked by demonstrators. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police will be deployed to monitor the area.

• RUSTENBURG – 28 APR 2022 (09H10) The South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU) is expected to hold its May Day celebrations on Sunday, 01 May 2022, from 10H00. The celebrations are expected to be held at the Civic Centre in Rustenburg.

SOUTH AFRICA – NORTHERN CAPE – 28 APR 2022
• BARKLY WEST – 28 APR 2022 (08H40) The Barkly West Magistrate’s Court has postponed the case of Sandile Vaaibooi, to Monday, 23 May 2022, for further Police investigations. Vaaibooi has been arrested and charged with the murder of Patrick Vaaibooi, Angelina Kgatlane, and a South African Police Service (SAPS) member, assault and malicious property damage.

SOUTH AFRICA – WESTERN CAPE – 28 APR 2022
• PIKETBERG – 28 APR 2022 (06H50) Protest expected by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) today, 28 April 2022, at the Piketberg District Court. The EFF members are expected to protest to call for Justice for Natasha Booise, who was killed by a former Police officer. The demonstrators demand no bail for the former Police officer. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police will be deployed to monitor the area.
