• TSHWANE/ PRETORIA – 28 APR 2022 (20H00) Protest reported on the N4 near Lotus Gardens Pretoria. Demonstrators are barricading the road with rocks. Residents are protesting due to poor service delivery regarding electricity. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Police are on the scene.
• VANDERBIJLPARK – 28 APR 2022 (19H30) Protest reported at the Westinghouse Boulevard, Frikkie Meyer Boulevard and Faraday Boulevard Circle in Vanderbijlpark. Previously, residents have been protesting due to poor service delivery. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Police have been dispatched to the scene.
• BOKSBURG – 28 APR 2022 (20H30) Explosion reported at the transformer on Dart Road in Impala Park. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. The fire department has been deployed to the scene.
• CENTURION – 28 APR 2022 (20H30) UPDATE The suspects attempted to hijack a vehicle. One person has been fatally shot. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Police are investigating the matter. (19H00) Armed robbery reported on Jewel Street in Laudium. Two victims have been shot and wounded. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Police have been dispatched to the scene.
• TSHWANE/ PRETORIA – 28 APR 2022 (21H30) The Department of Health has announced that Minister Joe Phaahla and Deputy Minister of Health, Sibongiseni Dhlomo, are scheduled to convene a media briefing at 08H00 tomorrow, 29 April 2022. During the briefing, Phaahla and Dhlomo are expected to provide an update on Government efforts to address COVID-19 and progress on the national vaccination rollout programme.
• JOHANNESBURG – 28 APR 2022 (22H10) South African Airlines (SAA) has announced that interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Thomas Kgokolo is scheduled to depart the airline at the end of April 2022. Kgokolo had been appointed in April 2021 on an interim basis when SAA exited business rescue. John Lamola is expected to assume the role of CEO as well as Executive Chairperson with effect from 01 May 2022.
• BRONKHORSTSPRUIT – 29 APR 2022 (02H50) UPDATE The N4 between Bossemanskraal and the Bapsfontein interchange has been reopened to traffic. (00H15) Road closure reported on the N4 Westbound between Bossemanskraal and the Bapsfontein interchange in the vicinity of Bronkhorstspruit. The road has been closed to allow recovery operations following a motor vehicle accident involving a minibus. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Emergency services are on the scene.
• SOWETO – 29 APR 2022 (05H10) Fire reported on Mayekiso Street in Moroka. Reports indicate that a South African Police Service (SAPS) barracks has caught fire. The reason for the fire is unknown at this stage. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Emergency services are on the scene.
• TSHWANE/PRETORIA – 29 APR 2022 (06H00) The Presidency is expected to publish the fourth part of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into Allegations of State Capture, Corruption and Fraud in the Public Sector, including Organs of State, report at 10H00 today, 29 April 2022. This follows after the Presidency recently stated that it is set to formally receive the section of the report on 29 April 2022. Chief Justice and Commission Chairperson Judge Raymond Zondo presented the first part of the report to President Cyril Ramaphosa at the Union Buildings on 04 January 2022. The Presidency formally received the third section of the report on Tuesday, 01 March 2022.
• SOWETO – 29 APR 2022 (09H00) Premier David Makhura is expected to sign the Township Economic Development Bill into law today, 29 April 2022, from 09H00 at the Orlando Community Hall. The Act aims to promote the economic transformation to enable meaningful participation of previously excluded people in the economy. It will also provide a regulatory framework that will allow people living in townships to establish viable and thriving businesses in the areas.

• UMLAZI – 29 APR 2022 (04H30) Protest reported on Rana Road in the vicinity of Umlazi V, Umlazi. Demonstrators have barricaded the roadway with burning tyres and debris. Community members are protesting against service delivery related issues being experienced in the area. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Authorities are aware of the situation.
• PIETERMARITZBURG – 29 APR 2022 (06H10) Protest reported on the R33 in the vicinity of Copesville. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with stones and debris. SOUTH AFRICA – LIMPOPO – 29 APR 2022
• LEPHALALE – 28 APR 2022 (20H00) UPDATE The Lephalale Magistrate’s Court has granted R1,000 bail to Paul Hendriks, who allegedly shot and injured two people that were fishing along the Mogol river next to Rietspruit Plot in Lephalale on Tuesday, 26 April 2022. (16H00) A suspect is expected to appear at the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court today, 28 April 2022, on charges of attempted murder. The suspect shot at two people who were fishing, mistaking them for a hippopotamus near the Rietspruit farm. One of the individuals has been shot and injured. The Police seized two rifles, one revolver, one pistol and two airguns.

• MIDDELBURG – 28 APR 2022 (20H00) Protest reported on the R555 at the Nkangala Further Education and Training (FET) College. The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) are protesting. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Police are on the scene.

• POTCHEFSTROOM – 28 APR 2022 (20H05) Motorists are advised to be vigilant for hijackings on the N12 between Potchefstroom and Carletonville and Kraalkop at Fochville’s four-way stop. Several hijacking incidents have been reported by criminals operating in the area. The criminals are allegedly wearing Police uniforms and have blue lights on their vehicles.
• MAHIKENG – 29 APR 2022 (07H50) The Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Health, Madoda Sambatha, is expected to receive a Cold Chain Vaccine storage equipment from Vodacom today, 29 April 2022, from 10H00 at the Gelukspan Hospital. Vodacom, in collaboration with the National Department of Health, has unveiled the multi-million rand cold chain equipment donation to boost vaccine storage and delivery to local communities.
• POTCHEFSTROOM – 29 APR 2022 (08H50) Protest reported at Promosa Secondary School. Learners are protesting due to the shortage of Educators in the school. • KURUMAN – 28 APR 2022 (23H00) Eskom has announced the planned implementation of load reduction in the John Taolo Gaetsew District on Friday, 29 April 2022. The measure aims to avoid overloading of the Eskom network and damage to infrastructure in high-density areas that are prone to network overloading. The load reduction is scheduled to be implemented between 06H00 and 19H00. The regions that are expected to be affected by the load reduction include Kanana, Gatsikedi, Maiping, Magojaneng, Magobing, Sedibeng, Mokalawanoga, Gasese, Bosra, Geelboom, Masankong, Dinokaneng, Mmatoro, Penryn, Tsineng, Tsinengkop, Laxey, Rustfontein, Wyk 8, Wyk 9, Wyk 10. The power utility has stated that relevant updates regarding the situation will be issued to the public as the matter progresses.

SOUTH AFRICA – WESTERN CAPE – 29 APR 2022
• CAPE TOWN – 28 APR 2022 (21H50) Kleinvlei Police Services has confirmed the arrests of two suspects on allegations of being in possession of stolen property and attacking a Police officer at the corner of Baden Powell Drive and Japhta Masemula Drive in Khayelitsha. The arrests follow after officers received intelligence regarding the whereabouts of a vehicle involved in the robbery of a delivery vehicle. Upon locating the vehicle, a chase and shootout ensued between Police and the suspects. The vehicle halted in Khayelitsha, and the officers proceeded to conduct a search. A 9 mm pistol and 17 containers of cigarettes had been found and seized by the officers. The suspects are set to appear before the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ Court in due course.
