• HOOPSTAD – 31 MAY 2022 (07H30) Premier Sisi Ntombela and Members of the Executive Council (MEC) are expected to visit Hoopstad today, 31 May 2022, from 10H00 to conduct an oversight inspection of the P21/4 road. The road links Hoopstad and Bloemhof in the North West province.

• SANDTON – 30 MAY 2022 (19H30) Protest expected in Sandton on Tuesday, 31 May 2022, by the South African Jobseekers Movement from 09H00 until 13H00. Demonstrators are expected to march through Sandton. Roads that will be affected include Grayston Drive, Katherine Street, West Street, Rivonia Road and Maude Street. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes during the march. Police will be dispatched to the scene.
• TSHWANE/PRETORIA – 30 MAY 2022 (22H00) The African National Congress (ANC) announced the party’s expected plans for the 15th ANC Regional Conference, scheduled to take place from 03 June 2022 until 05 June 2022 at the Tshwane ANC Regional Office. The ANC stated that during the conference, the party is expected to discuss the agenda for the provincial elective conference at the end of June 2022.
• TEMBISA – 31 MAY 2022 (06H20) Protest reported on Olifantsfontein Road in the vicinity of Tembisa Mall. The demonstrators are protesting due to poor service delivery. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.
• GERMISTON – 31 MAY 2022 (06H40) Stones and debris reported on Main Reef Road between Stanley Street and Shamrock Road due to ongoing protests. Motorists are advised to be vigilant. Police are monitoring the area.
• MIDRAND – 31 MAY 2022 (07H00) Securex South Africa is expected to hold an expo at the Gallagher Convention Centre from today, 31 May, until Thursday, 02 June 2022. The expo will be open from 09H00 until 16H00. More than 160 quality exhibitors will be attending, with thousands of the continent’s security and fire protection professionals across both public and private sectors.
• TSHWANE/PRETORIA – 31 MAY 2022 (07H05) Protest expected by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) members today, 31 May 2022, at the Eswatini High Commission from 10H00. The EFF members are expected to protest in solidarity with the people of Eswatini and call for the democratization of Eswatini. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police will be deployed to the area.
• WESTONARIA – 31 MAY 2022 (08H40) The South African Police Service (SAPS) has issued a warning following a reported increase in motor vehicle-related crime and hijackings in Gauteng and Kwazulu-Natal. This comes as the SAPS issued a statement noting that between April 2021 to May 2022, Gauteng had 231 incidents and 186 incidents of hijackings following incidents that occurred between 06H00 and 09H00 and 18h00 and 00H00 on Thursdays and Fridays. The targeted vehicles include white or silver-grey Toyota Hilux, Volkswagen Polo, Toyota Quantum, and Nissan NP200. South African Police Service (SAPS) officials have noted that suspected traffic police officers carry out these criminal activities in the following areas, Bekkersdal on the R28 and N12, Carletonville on Blybank Road and Randfontein Road, Fochville on the N12 and R500, and Randfontein on the R559, R28 and N14. Motorists and truck drivers have been advised to remain cautious.
• TSHWANE/PRETORIA – 31 MAY 2022 (08H15) Protest reported at the Union Buildings. The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) and the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) members of Sibanye Stillwater are protesting in demand for salary increases. The demonstrators demand President Cyril Ramaphosa to intervene in the wage negotiations between unions and mine management. Members of the public are advised to be vigilant. Police are on the scene.

• NDUNDULU – 30 MAY 2022 (19H30) Protest reported on the R34 and R66 in Ndundulu. Demonstrators are protesting between Melmoth and the turn-off to Empangeni. Community members are protesting due to poor service delivery. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched to the scene.
• PIETERMARITZBURG – 30 MAY 2022 (19H50) Power interruptions are expected in parts of Sweetwaters, in Pietermaritzburg, on Tuesday, 31 May 2022, from 08H00 until 17H00. An alternative date is Thursday, 02 June 2022, from 08H00 to 17H00. The electricity will be switched off during the installation of a pole transformer. Areas that will be affected include parts of Sweetwaters, Madwaleni, Mbanjwa, Mvumbulukwana and Mayekeleni.
• MOOI RIVER – 30 MAY 2022 (20H15) KwaZulu-Natal Police are investigating a case of murder after a victim was shot and killed during a protest in Mooi River. Community members embarked on a protest action at Bruntville near the Mooi River Toll Plaza when the victim was shot by unknown suspects. The victim sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and was declared dead at the scene. The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage. Police are monitoring the Mooi River area, and the Mooi River Police Station is investigating charges of murder and public violence.
• CHATSWORTH – 31 MAY 2022 (06H15) Protest reported Crossmoor Road from High Terrace Road. The demonstrators have obstructed the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.
• ILLOVO SOUTH – 31 MAY 2022 (07H30) UPDATE Protest reported in the vicinity of Lower Illovo Business Park. The demonstrators have obstructed the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. (06H40) Protest reported on the R102 at the Illovo steel bridge. The demonstrators have barricaded the road with burning tyres and debris. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Police have been dispatched.

SOUTH AFRICA – LIMPOPO – 31 MAY 2022
• THOHOYANDOU – 30 MAY 2022 (20H30) The Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court has postponed the murder case of two South African Municipal Workers’ Union (SAMWU) leaders, over VBS Mutual Bank investments in the Vhembe District Municipality, to Monday 06 June 2022. The matter is being delayed due to outstanding ballistics results and cell phone recordings. The three accused allegedly shot and killed the victims in two separate incidents in Thohoyandou, 2020. The two victims were against the Vhembe District Municipality investing R300-million in the VBS Mutual Bank. The accused have been remanded in custody.

• HARTBEESPOORT – 31 MAY 2022 (09H00) The Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation, and Tourism is expected to participate in the North West International Market Access on Wednesday, 01 June 2022, until 02 June 2022 at the Three Oaks and Aloe Boutique Hotel from 10H00. The Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism, Kenetswe Mosenogi, is expected to provide a keynote address during the event. • KIMBERLEY – 30 MAY 2022 (20H00) The Democratic Alliance (DA) held a peaceful protest in Kimberley today, 30 May 2022. The DA protested against the fuel price increase that will come into effect on 01 June 2022. The DA had started a petition calling on the government to reduce taxes and lower fuel prices. DA Provincial Leader Harold McGluwa stated that people in Northern Cape have to travel long distances at high costs to collect their grants, access medical care or lay a criminal charge at a police station.

• CAPE TOWN – 31 MAY 2022 (06H00) Protest expected by members affiliated with the National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union (NEHAWU) today, 31 May 2022, at the Melomed Mitchells Plain Private Hospital from 12H00.
