Huawei Digital Power Technologies and Meinergy Technology have signed a cooperation agreement to develop a one-gigawatt (GW) photovoltaic (PV) power plant in Ghana. The signing ceremony has been attended by Huawei Ghana Office Representative, Managing Director Zhou Wei, and Meinergy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Wu Guangwen. The facility is expected to be equipped with a 500 megawatt-hour (MWh) battery system. Huawei is reportedly expected to supply the solar power technology and the storage system. The signing of the agreement comes as Ghana aims to achieve a 10% share of renewable energy in its energy mix by 2030, in addition to promoting green energy and increasing the availability of power across the country.
