Political activist, Bon Kalindo, has called for the release of prisoners, including businessperson Thom Mpinganjira and Activist Christopher Mzomera Ngwira, as part of the amnesty following corruption-related offences. This comes after a press conference held in Lilongwe, where discussions focussed on the Government’s decision to issue a 60-day amnesty that allows people who stole Government funds to return the money. During the briefing, Kalindo has stated that the amnesty was unacceptable and aimed at protecting politicians in the Tonse Alliance Government. Kalindo has also announced that he will lead an anti-Government demonstration on Friday, 14 January 2022.
