Mozambique’s National Social Security Institute (INSS) in the northern province of Cabo Delgado has announced that it is expected to relaunch its services in areas that had previously been seized by Islamist terrorists. This follows after the Mozambican Defence and Security Forces, assisted by troops from Rwanda and members of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), previously secured areas surrounding the Palma and Mocimboa da Praia districts, including the Mocimboa da Praia town during various Military operations. The INSS has stated that a team led by the INSS Cabo Delgado Delegate Chomar Selemane recently conducted operations in the areas liberated from the terrorist to ascertain security on the ground and discuss with local authorities. The team has received assurances that district authorities will assist the INSS in re-establishing its services. The INSS has also stated intentions to resume services in Mocimboa da Praia, Mueda and Muidumbe in due course.
