Mozambique’s Electricity Company (EDM) has signed a new contract to supply power to the Kingdom of Eswatini. The contract has a duration of about 17 months and will provide for EDM to supply 20-megawatts (MW) of power, revised depending on the needs of Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC). During a signing ceremony, discussions focussed on analysing future projects between the two companies, particularly the Temane Thermal Power Plant, which is being built in southern Mozambique. The Chairperson of EDM, Marcelino Alberto, has stated that the Temane Thermal Power Plant project includes a transmission line between Vilanculos [Inhambane province] and Maputo, which will interconnect to the Motraco system, the same one that makes the interconnection between Mozambique and the Eswatini Kingdom.
