The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that Nigeria is expected to conduct elections on 25 February 2023 and 11 March 2023. This follows after President Muhammadu Buhari recently signed the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill 2022 into law. INEC National Chairperson Mahmood Yakubu has stated that the Presidential and National Assembly Elections are scheduled for 25 February 2023, while Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections are set to be held on 11 March 2023. This is expected to allow the Commission to ensure all procedures conform to the provisions of the new Electoral Law, which states that the election notice is published at least 260 days prior to the elections.
