The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has announced an additional $10,6 million in development assistance to support the 2021 bilateral agreement between the US and Nigerian Governments. The funding is expected to finance efforts to enhance COVID-19 vaccination efforts to meet the target of 600,000 vaccinations a day. The funds are also expected to support integrating COVID-19 vaccinations into routine immunisation and primary health care systems, state-level data collections and analytics, health workers’ training, and the development of vaccination access points at the community level. This funding increases the total US assistance to the Nigerian Government to $179 million under the five-year $2,1 billion Development Objectives Assistance Agreement signed between USAID and the Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning.
