Kebbi State Police authorities have confirmed that an unknown armed group has attacked and killed more than 60 members of a volunteer vigilante group in Nigeria’s northwestern Sakaba area. Reports have indicated that the vigilante group, known as Yan Sa Kai, had planned to ambush the armed group in the Sakaba area. However, the armed group reportedly received prior intelligence of the planned offensive and immediately launched an attack on the vigilante group. Kebbi Police Spokesperson Nafiu Abubakar has stated that an estimated 62 people have sustained fatal injuries during the incident. Abubakar has noted that further assessments of the matter are ongoing.
