Jubaland President Ahmed Madobe is engaged in discussions with the Ethiopian National Defence Forces (ENDF) regarding security threats along Ethiopia and Somalia’s shared border region. This follows increased activity by the al-Shabaab militant group. This follows as Ethiopia currently has an estimated 4,500 soldiers deployed in the African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM). The meeting has been attended by Madobe, a former Ras Kamboni Commander, ENDF Sector 3 and Sector 6 Commanders, Commander of the 5th Motorized Battalion, and the Head of Jubaland Security and Intelligence Unit. The participants have agreed to enhance cooperation efforts to ensure the security of areas within the border region.
