The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) has attended the inauguration ceremony of the recently constructed bridge under the Berbera-Hargeisa corridor project in Somaliland. This strategic initiative has been financed from the AED330,5 million grant programme provided by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the country in 2017. The grant is managed by the ADFD and aims to finance various projects to strengthen sustainable development in Somaliland. Republic of Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi has inaugurated the project in the presence of Abdullah Muhammad Al Naqbi, Director of the UAE Trade Office in Somaliland, and several Ministers and senior Government officials. The bridge is estimated to be 105 metres (m) in length, connecting several major cities and regions in the country. The Berbera-Hargeisa corridor project contributes to facilitating traffic and passenger movement, reducing time and costs and decreasing carbon emission.
