National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) Spokesperson Livhuwani Mmamburu has announced that union members have rejected an R700 offer per year for three years by Sibanye-Stillwater. The Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) and NUM members are demanding an R1,000 increase per year for three years. This follows after the involved parties failed to reach an agreement at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA). Mmamburu has further stated that 79% of NUM members have voted in favour of the launch of industrial action in protest against the offer. AMCU Treasurer-General Jimmy Gama has urged Sibanye to review the offer to avoid industrial action. Sibanye Gold operations include the Driefontein, Kloof, Cook, and Beatrix mines.
