State-owned regional airline, South Africa (SA) Express’s liquidation hearing has been postponed to 04 July 2022. SA Express was placed in provisional liquidation in April 2020, after its business rescue process failed. The airline’s provisional liquidators are trying to find a suitable buyer for the airline. This follows after the National Union of Metalworkers and the Cabin Crew Association submitted an application at the Constitutional Court to compel the National Assembly to debate whether the airline should be permitted to go insolvent. However, the Constitutional Court ruled that it cannot hear the unions’ application as the matter is not within its jurisdiction and mandate to hear directly.
