Clover has condemned the acts of violence affecting their staff and operations committed during the industrial strike actions. Communications between Clover and Trade unions are being facilitated by the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation, and Arbitration (CCMA) to resolve the strike action. Clover has reported approximately 200 acts of violence which include; two murder charges, three attempted murder charges, 109 cases of malicious damage to property, seven attacks made on staff members’ residences, 12 assault charges, 40 intimidation cases, 15 cases of invasion of retail premises in addition to a robbery case. Clover Spokesperson Steven Velthuysen reported that 16 of the suspects had been identified in addition to four arrests. Velthuysen has stated that weekly meetings are being held with police to receive progress reports. Furthermore, Clover has stated that internal disciplinary actions are being conducted towards the appropriate employees.
