Protest expected at the Department of Sports and Recreation office on Thursday, 20 January 2022. Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) supporters will be demanding the immediate reopening of stadiums for spectators. EFF supporters are expected to hand over a memorandum of demands to Sports Minister Nathi Mthethwa. EFF leader Julius Malema stated that if there is no progress on the matter after their protest, they will move to the offices of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) and the South African Football Association (Safa). Motorists are advised to be vigilant during the protest. Police will be monitoring the situation.
