Stolen Transnet railway tracks, valued at R1-million, have been recovered from three vehicles apprehended near Camperdown in KwaZulu-Natal today, 12 January 2022. Magma Security & Investigators received information regarding three pick-up trucks travelling from the Richmond area to Durban on Umlaas Road that have been suspected of carrying the stolen tracks. Two vehicles have been stopped, both carrying railway tracks cut into lengths of about 2 metres each. A third vehicle on the N3 towards Durban has been intercepted shortly thereafter. Four gas bottles and a blow torch have also been recovered. Seven suspects and three vehicles have been handed over to the Police in Camperdown, and the Directorate For Priority Crime Investigation in Pietermaritzburg and Transnet investigators have also been involved.
