The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) has announced that disaster management teams have been placed on high alert to address expected adverse weather conditions across the province. This follows after the South African Weather Service issued a warning of inclement weather conditions that are expected to affect several districts in the province, including Harry Gwala, uThukela, Umgungundlovu, Amajuba, Umzinyathi and Zululand. The adverse weather is expected to include increased rainfalls and thunderstorms with the possibility of localised flooding, hail, and excessive lightning activity from today, 01 March 2022. Residents are advised to exercise caution and avoid travelling on bridges and roads in low-lying areas.
