African National Congress (ANC) Councillors in the uMhlathuze Municipality have obtained a court interdict to stop the appointment of the acting Deputy Municipal Manager for Infrastructure and Technical Services, Sbusiso Ngcobo, at the Pietermaritzburg High Court. The ANC Councillors stated that the appointment of Ngcobo, who was due to resume his duties from 01 January 2022, was done without following the basic recruitment policy. The ANC Councillors stated that the decision to appoint Ngcobo contravened the Local Government Municipal Structures Act.
