Students have been protesting at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN). About 250 first-year students have been sleeping at the security gates outside the UKZN Pietermaritzburg campus. The students stated that the university has failed to provide them with accommodation. Student Representative Council President Malusi Zuma stated that negotiations with the university management had yielded no positive results on campus. The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) student Command Secretary Akhona Jali called for Student Housing Managers to prioritise negotiations with private accommodation landlords to resolve the challenges.
