The Mogalakwena Mining Communities (MMC) have announced that it is prepared to have discussions with Ivanplats mine and find amicable solutions on the land owned by the community which the mine wants allegedly wants to occupy. The announcement follows after the members postponed a planned protest at the mine on Monday, 10 January 2022. The MMC Chairperson, Motea Rafapa, stated that the protest has been postponed to allow the mine to engage with the community. Rafapa added that the community demands the mine to hold public participation engagements with the community and have the community’s consent before working on their land.
