SOUTH AFRICA – LIMPOPO – POLOKWANE/ PIETERSBURG – ALERT 02 MAR 2022 (16:45)

The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (DENOSA) has called for people to be permanently employed by the Limpopo Department of Health. This follows after community members have raised concerns about an advertisement showing Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) workers in the Department will receive an R3,000 monthly salary. DENOSA Provincial Chairperson Lesiba Monyaki stated that R3,000 is not enough to cover employees living costs. Monyaki is proposing that EPWP workers be paid a basic salary as they are rendering essential healthcare services. DENOSA called on the Provincial Health Department and the Limpopo Provincial Government to discuss solutions around the contractual work of EPWP workers.
