Suspect Agrinath Maluli has appeared at the Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court today, 10 March 2022, for being in possession of unwrought gold. This follows after Maluli had been arrested in Khuma in June 2021. The Illicit Mining Task Team followed up on information and found unwrought gold worth approximately R650,000. Maluli made a series of court appearances and pleaded guilty, resulting in her sentence of an R100,000 fine or five years imprisonment, as well as a further five years imprisonment.
