The German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has offered about R700 million grant funding support for a project, H2.SA. The project will assess the potential of green hydrogen production in several locations, such as Boegoebaai. This follows after the company had partnered with the Minister in the Presidency, Mondli Gungubele, to develop a green hydrogen economy at Port Nolloth in the Northern Cape. Furthermore, the German Government, through its development bank KfW, made a separate commitment of R3.5-billion of concessional loan finance for public and private sector green hydrogen projects.
