Overstrand Municipality officials have released a precautionary evacuation order for residents of Heuningkloof following a fire that started on Saturday, 08 January 2022. The order warns residents that they might have to evacuate their homes should the fire get out of control. Fire Chief, Reinard Geldenhuys, stated that the fire burning between the mountain and the R44 has reached Arabella, the R43, and is heading towards Hermanus. Firefighters are currently focussing on containing the fire at Arabella and Kleinmond.
