The East African Court of Justice has taken legal action against the Governments of Uganda and Tanzania in connection with their involvement in the recent oil pipeline agreement. The applicants are reportedly seeking to halt the construction of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline until concerns regarding the livelihoods of citizens in the affected region and the environment are addressed. This follows after Uganda and Tanzania recently entered into an agreement to commence the construction of the 1445 kilometre (km) crude oil pipeline.
