Religious leaders in Tanzania have called on President Samia Hassan to order the case against Chadema chairman, Freeman Mbowe and co-accuse, who begin their defence on 04 March 2022. This follows after a meeting held between the religious leaders and Hassan on Wednesday, 02 March 2022, at the State House in Dar es Salaam, where different requests, including Mbowe’s case, had been presented. The High Court’s Corruption and Economic Crimes Division had found Mbowe and three accused to appear for a hearing after being charged with six counts, which include conspiracy to commit acts of terrorism, whereas Mbowe alone faces a separate charge of financing acts of terrorism in the Economic Sabotage Case Number 16 of 2021.
