The Southern African Development Community (SADC) has appointed a four-member Panel of Experts (PoE) to advise the region on political and conflict resolution issues. The PoE includes Tanzania’s former President, Jakaya Kikwete, former Mauritian Vice-President Paramasivum Pillay Vyapoory, former Zimbabwean Justice Minister Patrick Chinamasa, and former Botswana Foreign Minister Charles Tibone. The PoE is expected to be led by Kikwete, with Vyapoory as his Deputy. The outgoing Head of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defense, and Security Cooperation, Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi, has stated that the panel members are expected to serve a four-year term.
